I'm a Professor of Economics at Royal Holloway, University of London.
I study labour economics, in particular issues regarding education, family decisions, discrimination and crime.

Bio:
I obtained my PhD from the University of Birmingham in 2000 and had positions at the Centre for Economic Performance at the London School of Economics, University College Dublin and University of Kent, before moving to Royal Holloway in 2006, where I have been a Professor of Economics since 2016. I'm leading the group of applied economists at RHUL (ECHO) and co-direct the Centre for the Economics of Education (CREED) with my colleague Petar Stankov.
I am also affiliated with IZA in Bonn, the Rockwool Foundation in Berlin and with CESifo in Munich.
I am the Mercator Fellow at the RTG Regional Disparities and Economic Policies.
I'm also on the editorial board of the following journals:
