Music In The Park
Come by and stay awhile ...
We are happy to announce our Summer 2022 schedule!
Music in the Park
All Music in the Park concerts are FREE to the public. Our events are Tobacco Free.
Everyone’s invited to bring picnic suppers, lawn chairs and your own shade. Kids can enjoy the Markleeville Community Park playground (next to the library) while the bands play on. Donations to fund the Friends of the Library programs in support of Alpine County Libraries are always welcomed and appreciated!
2022 Musical Season:
Saturday, June 25, 5 pm
BUFFALO GALS
"Acoustic Eclectic String Band" from Grass Valley
Saturday July 30, 5 pm
OLD SOLES
"Moonshine Flavored Americana" from Grass Valley
This concert will be preceded by an "Old Time Music Workshop" at 3:30pm, also in the park.
Workshop info: Masha and Geff Crawford (Old Soles) will help you learn an old-time tune by ear and play well with others. Masha plays a driving clawhammer banjo style which balances both rhythm and melody, and she can teach you to do the same. Geff is known for his multi-layered traditional fiddling, beautiful and rhythmic, as well as playing guitar, banjo and mandolin. They are skilled and patient teachers, and fun people too! Both have over 40 years of experience teaching and performing at festivals. All traditional instruments are welcome. All levels are welcome. Bring an instrument, a tuner, capo for fretted instruments, and a recording device.
Friends of the Library is requesting a donation of $20/person to help cover the cost of the workshop.
