Project (SAICT-POL/23700/2016)

The project detains a holistic perspective of the "accessibility for all" and focuses on modal interfaces. It has as principal aim to develop a pilot study of an accessible, intelligent and sustainable bus stop in Faro, located at Faro Airport. Recommendations to improve universal design of an urban pedestrian infrastructure, located in the surroundings of Riverside Hotel & Spa (Ferragudo - Lagoa) are developed. The design was collaborative, it considered the human diversity and it was developed by students and researchers with the cooperation of people with disabilities and older tourists (experience/practice based research). These were inquired, at Faro airport, about their needs for accessible bus stops and environments. These data influenced an "age sensitive design" approach.

The implementation of the proposed solutions could contribute to promote sustainable and intelligent mobility, senior tourism and social inclusion, i. e. Accessible Tourism.
