Yeah, there are definitely some issues w/ desktop connector for standard users. I have to submit an enterprise support ticket soon to help get to the bottom of a few things, like why it spawns some child process which seems to be checking for reboot/installing C++ package.

The Microsoft .NET framework v4.7.1 must be installed on your system. Most Windows installations will already have this installed however if necessary it will be automatically downloaded for you as part of the installation of the desktop connector.

From time to time the connector will be updated to incorporate new features and/or improvements. This requires no user interaction. The new version will be downloaded automatically when you launch the connector.

The connector works on Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server 2019, and may not work correctly on earlier versions of Windows. Your customer will need administrator permissions on your computer to complete the installation.

The QuickBooks Desktop connector must be run on the same computer as the QuickBooks Desktop application. Advise your client to install the connector on the computer they normally use when working with QuickBooks Desktop.

Administrator privileges (admin rights) are required to run the connector. When you add a new company, a user with admin rights needs to run the installer, which will display the following dialog:

When your user runs the QuickBooksDesktopConnector.exe, it will launch the "QBWebConnector - InstallShield Wizard" to take them through the installation steps. It will be a fresh install or an update to the latest version if the web connector is already present on the machine.

If the SMB user isn't a Windows administrator on their own system, a different administrator must approve the installation and run Quickbooks Desktop using the Run as Administrator option. This applies both during the initial link and when adding companies to an existing connector. When installed in this way, the connector is only able to sync data while Quickbooks Desktop is closed.

Next, the user downloads the configuration file and runs it to create a connection to their QBD company via the web connector. The configuration file will detect and link to the open QBD company. QuickBooks Desktop will then display a prompt requesting to allow the application to read and modify the QuickBooks company file.

Once the user allows the connector access to the open QuickBooks Desktop company, they will see a new connection appear in the web connector. The user must then select the connection using the checkbox.

If you have chosen to install your connectors for ongoing synchronizations, the connector will periodically process any dataset syncs or pushes you have queued using the Codat Portal or API. The connector will also start automatically when the system reboots.

If your user wants to remove the web connector and disconnect the service, they should navigate to Windows Settings > Apps & features from the menu and search for Web Connector in the filter form.

Once the user has uninstalled the web connector, they may also want to remove the application certificate. To do this, they should open QuickBooks Descktop and navigate to Edit > Preferences > Integrated Applications > Company Preferences.

In v15.xx, all projects you can access will automatically be added to your connector. When you first sign in to Desktop Connector 16.1.1, you will be asked to make your initial project selections. All the projects you can access are listed in All projects. Select the projects and click Save. This can be updated later if desired.

If you have this problem that is a result of this, unsubscribe from the project and reset desktop connector (See Troubleshooting). Typical Windows message is "Addin Process.exe is downloading" followed by syncing errors and possibly a Desktop Connector crash.

Additionally, you can use the %userprofile% syntax to reference not only the sub-path to these Autodesk Docs files, but also to other folder path locations, such as One Drive that support local user desktop file storage.

Fixed a bug where an account that has Autodesk Docs subscriptions and other subscriptions and does not have any projects selected, the drive/connector drop-down menu is not selectable. Improved the drop-down dialog to be selectable in the workflow.

Using the Spotlight Desktop Connector, you can import from QuickBooks Desktop, MYOB AccountRight Desktop, and Sage 50 Accounts / Sage 50cloud Accounts desktop data, even if you're working on a different computer to where the accounting software and data is installed.

is there any API to retrieve all files/folders in BIM 360 & BIM 360 Team network drives on desktop? I tried different cmd and python approaches (e.g. os.walk) but they only list folder that users have manually opened (e.g. folders/subfolders/files are being listed with queries only after I double-click and open them manually).

I'm curious what version of App Volumes, Horizon, and guest OS are you using? I've had lots of problems with putting Autodesk apps in appstacks with version 2.18. I finally just installed all versions of Autodesk apps in the instant-clone pool parent VM, but even then I had to revert the App Volumes agent in the desktop pool back to version 2.16 in order to avoid errors when a user opens Revit and AutoCAD at the same time. I haven't started testing it yet, but I'm hoping App Volumes 4 will provide some relief. I'm not going to hold my breath, though....

@ms00560, Power BI desktop can connect to a local file or connect to an external source. So, Alteryx for instance can output the data as a CSV and then you connect to that CSV, or you could output the data to Power BI service using the tool @Felipe_Ribeir0 mentioned and connect to it there.

Hi lsjx. There will be a generally available build of the desktop connector published later this month that addresses the issue you describe. We do have a hotfix build of the Desktop Connector that you can use now if required that you can download at this link: :u:/g/personal/richard_parker_autodesk_com/Ef9Z79tlAupNjKuf2Dd1oaABj8UpJg2C_T5it2m-NDPlKw?e=4%3ae8djXt%3aorigemail&at=9

It looks like with the latest update, any Revit files connected to cloud collaboration projects are now hidden when viewing the folders via the desktop connector. This also includes the files placed in the Shared directory, is this by design?

Power Automate offers a rich experience when it comes to connecting to other services. With a toolkit of over 780 connectors, cloud flows can interact with the most popular services that are accessible by API.

The ability to have all cloud actions available through the designer eliminates the need to separate logic between cloud and desktop flows, considerably reducing development time and potential logic errors that might occur.

First of all, make sure you remove any previous version of the Portal QB connector from your computer. If you do have a previous version of the Portal QB Connector, you can save your item mappings to be used with this new version. To do this, you must:

Easily pull data directly into Tableau to create your visualizations using data.world's Tableau Desktop connector. By using the connector as your data source, Tableau can even keep the data in sync with data.world to ensure your visualizations are using the most accurate data.

Returning to Tableau, paste the connector URL into the input box. Note that when you enter the URL, the input box disappears and moves to the URL field so you'll just need to hit Enter on your keyboard to load the next page.

Well let me explain what it is. In a nutshell, desktop connector is a service that runs and it integrates an Autodesk data management source such as fusion lifecycle or BIM360 with your desktop folder or file structure, but also can be integrated with Autodesk Vault.

So summarising, do you need desktop connected? Only if you are collaborating with the cloud and sharing data sources. It is a fantastic leap forward in cloud collaboration and I am looking forward to more integrations.

so for enterprise customers with self-managed setup we can not use Desktop Modeller? and if i want to use(your recommended way) embedded .bpmn file in a microservice i can not design it with Desktop Modeller. i have to use WebModeler, download .bpmn file and then put it in a microservice? am i right? or connectors are not available for self-managed setup at all?

The only thing that Nico wanted to point out, is that the connector templates are not bundled with the desktop modeller out-of-the-box, you have to install them after installing the desktop modeler: Configuring templates | Camunda 8 Docs
