## Interview Log 01 - Elias Mercer - Lume
Date: 11/03/23
Interviewer: Riley Morgan
Interviewees: Elias Mercer, Garrett Holmes, Austin Martin, Christopher Vik
R: I'm glad you all could join me today. Want to start of by introducing yourselves?
E: I'm Elias, vocalist and lead guitar.
A: I'm Austin. I play the bass.
G: My name is Garrett, I hit things with a stick.
C: And I'm Chris, the lead vocalist and rhythm guitar player.
R: Great! What inspired you to start making music?
E: Well growing up, I have had a love for music. It calms my nerves and it's just something I simply can't live without. I went to a lot of live shows as a teenager, and thought to myself, "Wow if I could play like those guys, my life would be complete."
R: Sounds awesome, I love music myself but couldn't bear the thought of ever trying. Big crowds scare me.
C: It's just one of those things that you have to get out there and try. Can't let anyone stop you from chasing your dream.
R: So the name Lume, where does it come from?
A: We just wanted something short and simple. I had some inspiration from a funny little leaf and wrote it down when I thought of it. Just sounded cool at the time.
E: I remember hearing it for the first time and I told Austin he was a genius.
R: Sounds like an awesome story. When do you guys think you'll release your debut album?
G: We have been working on some stuff in the background, but obviously time is cut short due to us working so we only get together twice a week to write some stuff and maybe record. It's definitely costly with all of the gear and studio time.
R: Well, I can't wait to hear it! Unfortunately the time I reserved for this interview is over and I can't wait until I get the chance to listen to the album! I hope to see more of you all whenever you guys make it to the big leagues!

P: Good morning, Elias. I'm Dr. Ellery. Please, have a seat.
E: Thank you, doctor.
P: So what brought you in today?
E: I had a weird dream, though I didn't have it while I was asleep.
P: Care to explain?
E: I was just walking along the shoreline, and I suddenly blacked out.
P: Did you, feel anything happen?
E: No. When I came to, I was still standing.
P: Interesting. How long has this been happening?
E: They've been happening for a couple of weeks now.
P: Would you like to explain what these dreams were about?
E: I was surrounded by what seemed to be nothingness; just black all around. No sound, no imagery, nothing.
P: While that certainly can be-
E: I saw a blurry figure, it sounded just like me and knew who I was.
P: Mind explaining what it was saying to you?
E: It was beckoning me towards it.
P: As in what way?
E: It wanted to show me- nevermind. I've said too much.
P: Elias, I'm only-
E: Don't you DARE call me that. That's exactly what that "thing" was calling me. That's not who I am anymore. You all think you know me, but you don't. You wouldn't understand the shit I go through every day. I get that this is your job, to dig into peoples minds and try to find a so-called cure, but it's not something that'll just magically disappear.
P: Then what do you suggest I do?
E: Stay out of my damn mind. Stop digging. This is over.
