The plasma ball is a simple device that can be used to explain how plasma is generated. Find the answers to the questions in the video.
Activity 3. It's all about ionisation and heat
Plasma, known as fourth state of matter, is ionized matter which consists of positive ions and electrons.
Although the particles of which it is composed are electrically charged, plasma as a whole is electrically neutral.
But due to these particles, plasma is a good conductor of electric current and responds well to external magnetic and electric fields.

Summary
Plasma is ionized matter which consists of positive ions and electrons. It is a good conductor of electric current.
It has wide application (neon signs, fluorescent lamps, TV screen, industry, medicine and science research) and is widespread in space (visible matter, lightning, aurora).
In the plasma ball, plasma streamer extends from the central metal sphere (high-voltage electrode) to an outer glass balloon (ground electrode). This moving steamer emits the light depending on gas used in ball.
If we bring a conductive object, like a light bulb, close to the plasma ball the electric field can induce a current in that object which then lights up.
