When reporting an issue, include your device model, iOS version, app version and build number, what you expected to happen, what actually happened, and a screenshot or screen recording if helpful. Avoid including reflection text unless you want to share it.

Privacy Note

Saved history is stored on your device. Optional AI-assisted Deeper Reflections send current-session text through Cloudflare to OpenAI only with your permission. AboutMe remains usable without remote AI. The app does not use accounts, product analytics, tracking, advertising SDKs, or app-managed cloud sync. See the Privacy Policy below for processing, retention, and data controls.

Privacy Policy

AboutMe helps you reflect on your own experiences. Saved history is stored on your device. Optional remote AI processing is a separate choice and requires your permission. AboutMe remains usable without remote AI.

On-Device Storage

AboutMe stores ordinary reflections, Deeper Reflection sessions and summaries, tags, favorites, dates, journey focus, progress, preferences, onboarding state, and AI processing consent in local app storage. Ordinary reflection saving and local pattern summaries do not send reflection text to AboutMe's service. AboutMe has no account system or app-managed cloud sync. Device backups may include app data according to your Apple settings.

Optional Remote AI Processing

When you choose an eligible AI action in a Deeper Reflection, AboutMe asks for permission before sending reflection text. If you allow it, AboutMe sends current-session text over HTTPS to its service hosted on Cloudflare, which forwards the processing request to OpenAI.

Adaptive questions use the selected reflection pack, current question and answer, recent answered turns, opening-answer context, questions already asked, and routing context. What Came Forward summaries use the selected pack and that session's answered questions and answers. Text you write may identify you or other people.

These requests do not include unrelated archived reflections, selected past-history excerpts, profile information, settings, tags, favorites, or subscription information. AboutMe does not automatically upload your reflection archive.

Permission applies to later eligible AI actions until you change it in You > Privacy & Data. Choosing to keep reflection on-device uses local alternatives. Turning AI processing off prevents new reflection actions from using remote AI; an action already underway may finish or retry. Turning it off does not retract text already sent.

Processing and Retention

AboutMe does not maintain a server-side reflection archive. Cloudflare and OpenAI process requests, and infrastructure or security logs may be retained under their service policies and applicable account settings. AboutMe's service does not intentionally log reflection request bodies.

AboutMe requests OpenAI processing with response storage disabled. This is not a zero-retention guarantee. OpenAI's default abuse-monitoring logs may include prompts and responses and are retained for up to 30 days, with longer retention possible where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect its services or others from harm. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default unless the API customer opts in to sharing.

Contact AboutMe support with questions or requests concerning processing of text you have shared. Reset Local Data does not delete provider logs.

Sharing, Tracking, and Apple Services

AboutMe does not sell or rent reflection data. It shares current-session text with the processors above only when you allow remote AI. The app does not use advertising, advertising identifiers, tracking, or product analytics. It does not request location, contacts, or Health data access.

Export Reflections creates text from ordinary saved reflections; Deeper Reflections are not included. You choose where to share that export. The destination may store or send it outside AboutMe. If you contact support, the information you choose to include is sent through your email provider to AboutMe support; avoid including reflection text unless you want to share it.

Apple handles Plus purchases and restores through StoreKit. A subscription does not grant AI processing permission. Apple may also process download, TestFlight, diagnostic, or feedback information under its own policies and your settings. AboutMe's AI requests do not include subscription information.

Your Data Controls

You can delete reflections using the available in-app controls. Reset Local Data in You > Privacy & Data deletes ordinary and Deeper Reflections on this device and resets AI processing consent. It does not reset every app preference or cancel a subscription. Manage subscriptions in your Apple Account settings.

Deleting the app removes its local data. Neither app deletion nor Reset Local Data deletes copies in backups, shared exports, support correspondence, or provider logs, or undoes processing that already occurred. Manage backups and shared copies through the services holding them.

An earlier AI permission must be renewed when you next attempt remote AI after a material disclosure update. This does not remove history, affect Plus entitlement, or prevent ordinary local reflection use. An earlier choice to keep reflection on-device remains respected.

Children

AboutMe is not directed to children under 13.

Changes

We update this policy when the app's data practices change. Material changes to optional AI processing are explained before requesting the relevant permission.
