M.P. Ahammed, born on November 1, 1957, in Kozhikode, Kerala, is a prominent Indian businessman and the chairman of the Malabar Group of Companies. He is best known as the founder of Malabar Gold & Diamonds, one of the world's largest retail jewelry chains. Coming from a family involved in trade and agriculture, Ahammed began his entrepreneurial journey early by establishing an agro-products business at the age of 17. He later expanded into the spice trade but recognized the potential in the jewelry sector.
In 1993, with an initial capital of ₹50 lakh, he founded Malabar Gold & Diamonds in Kozhikode. Under his visionary leadership, the company has grown exponentially, operating over 340 showrooms in 13 countries and achieving multi-billion dollar revenues. His business philosophy emphasizes transparency, quality, and customer satisfaction, which has been key to building trust and establishing the brand globally.
Besides his business ventures, Ahammed is actively involved in philanthropy through initiatives such as the Malabar Charitable Trust.
