Videos will release Mondays at ELCA Sumud on Facebook, Instagram, and the Sumud website.
The ELCA's new initiative, Sumud: For Justice in Palestine and Israel, presents “Following the Way of Jesus: A Lenten Holy Land Journey.” This Lenten video series for individuals and congregations consists of six short videos that introduce people to the land, the theology of sumud and its significance through Scripture as the “way of Jesus.” Each video will be available in both English and Arabic.
While this Lenten journey is available for all, ELCA Young Adults will be hosting small groups each week to watch and reflect on the videos.
If you are outside of 35+ or if these times do not work for you, Sumud's all ages small group registration can be found here.

Britta Koenen (she/her) originally hails from the Twin Cities, Minnesota. After graduating from Saint Olaf College in 2020 with a double major in Gender/Women’s Studies and Biology, Britta has lived around the world and participated in a number of different communities and service organizations. Most recently, she spent a year in Palestine with the ELCA’s Young Adults in Global Mission program where she worked as a teaching assistant and kindergarten teacher. Her year in accompaniment and relationship with all kinds of Palestinians was among the most meaningful experiences of her life, particularly her understanding gained of Palestinian life, culture, faith, and resistance to Israeli occupation. Working towards a just, whole, and liberated world has been the guiding principle of her life, and so she is hopeful for a free Palestine in her lifetime.
#NoPlasticsforLent is back for its 4th year! This year, we are partnering with ELCA Advocacy and Lutherans Restoring Creation to bring you a Lenten series that focuses on advocacy in care for creation and what we as Christians can do about it this upcoming election year. Small groups will be released soon, but you can sign up to be emailed directly once the small group dates & times become available. If you are outside the age range of 18 - 35 or want to organize your own small groups, we encourage you to use this Lenten resource for yourself and your community!

Phoebe Morad has been drawn to the intersection of faith and environment since college, where she had an open-minded, agnostic poli-sci professor challenge her to explore how spirit-led movements could make impact on civic debates around eco-justice. She got to work with a citizen-science research organization (Earthwatch) and then got to help usher communities to build homes with their neighbors (South Shore Habitat for Humanity), until 2010 when she was introduced to Lutherans Restoring Creation (LRC). This grassroots movement in Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA); led by clergy, lay people, campus ministers, outdoor camp staff and seminary professors offers a support system to connect, empower and equip one another. In 2017, this network became an official non-profit with a vision to promote the integration of creation care into the full life of the church. Now, as Director of LRC, Phoebe gets to lift up stories from across the ELCA and help leverage the assets of affiliate organizations. She also facilitates a global, virtual certificate course at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary which encourages faith-based action as part of the Center for Climate Justice and Faith. When she's not on Zoom meetings; she's either walking her dog, petting a cat, carting her busy kids around, or watching a comedy with her husband. She lives just outside of Boston, where the Massachusett people originally and continually care for the land.
