About the Project
Aberdeen Soup is a community run live crowdfunding dinner held three times a year in Aberdeen city. It is a social revolution that provides a platform for local people to invest in local ideas. Each diner donates £5 that goes to the winning presentation on the evening. The project is run by Elaine Cleary with huge support from Lara Bishop, co-owner of Foodstory Cafe.
The project runs entirely on donations from the local community and delighted to be supported by CAMBLA and TESCO helping with food and marketing support and the attendees that donate to keep the project running at each event.
4 Presenters have up to 5 mins to speak about their projects, answering up to 3 questions from the audience. During the evening the diners have a chance to vote on their favourite project and there is 1 overall winner.
Over the evening guests have a bowl of soup, some bread, listen to some local entertainers and engage with local people and hear about positive projects throughout the city,
The first ever Aberdeen SOUP was held on the 20th November 2016, held 3 times a year in Food Story Cafe, it is creating real positive social impact throughout the city.
Originally set up in Detroit in 2012 the SOUP movement has become increasingly popular as a source of crowdfunding in communities throughout Scotland.
