If you want open-ear safety and extended battery life for active days or travel, choose ABCDONG Earbuds Open Ear; if you need a lightweight, noise-isolating solution designed specifically for side sleeping and restful nights, choose Niecase Sleep Earbuds.
• ABCDONG Earbuds Open Ear: Offers 42 hours of total playtime with an on-ear design that keeps you aware of your surroundings; the trade-off is it lacks deep isolation for noisy environments. This pick is for runners, cyclists, and travelers who prioritize situational awareness.
• Niecase Sleep Earbuds: Features ultra-lightweight in-ear construction under 10 grams with Bluetooth 6.0 for stable connection during sleep; the trade-off is shorter battery life per charge compared to open-ear alternatives. This pick is for side sleepers and those seeking quiet in bed.
The ABCDONG earbuds are engineered around a fundamental philosophy: you should hear your music without closing yourself off from the world. The clip-on design rests gently on the outer ear rather than plugging into the canal, which is a critical distinction for anyone who runs outdoors, cycles near traffic, or simply needs to stay alert while commuting. This open-ear architecture ensures that ambient sounds—like approaching cars, sirens, or colleagues calling your name—are never lost to a seal of silicone or foam. It is a design choice that prioritizes safety and comfort over absolute silence.
For the traveler, these earbuds offer a specific advantage when used for airplane travel or long flights. While they do not actively cancel noise like a dedicated headset might, their directional audio technology helps keep your sound private without creating the "pressure" feeling many people dislike in enclosed cabins. The 16.2mm vibrating diaphragm drivers deliver what the manufacturer describes as balanced audio with deep bass, utilizing advanced Bluetooth 5.4 to ensure a low-latency experience. Whether you are listening to a podcast in a busy airport terminal or enjoying a movie on a plane, the ability to hear announcements or talk to a seatmate without removing the headphones is a genuine benefit.

You should buy these if you spend significant time moving through public spaces or exercising. The IPX7 waterproof rating means sweat and rain won't stop them, making them durable for intense workouts or outdoor adventures. The charging case provides a massive 42 hours of total playtime, so you rarely have to think about recharging during a weekend trip. However, you should skip this model if your primary goal is to block out a snoring partner or loud office chatter. These earbuds rely on your environment being relatively quiet enough to hear your audio clearly, and they may require you to turn up the volume slightly to get the best experience in noisy settings.
Niecase has taken a different approach entirely by focusing on the physics of sleep. The S25 model is built for one purpose: staying comfortable while lying on your side. Most standard earbuds become painful after an hour of side sleeping because they protrude too far from the head, digging into the pillow. Niecase addresses this by engineering an ultra-low profile fit that weighs less than 10 grams for both earbuds combined. This minimal weight and ergonomic shape mean you can toss and turn throughout the night without feeling pressure points or waking up with sore ears.
The design includes passive noise isolation, which works differently from the active cancellation found in high-end travel headsets. By sealing the ear canal slightly, these earbuds block out disruptive environmental noises, such as a ticking clock or a distant fan, allowing for deeper rest. They also feature a high-sensitivity microphone, ensuring that if you wake up to take a call, the audio remains clear. The integration of Bluetooth 6.0 suggests a robust connection that minimizes dropouts, which is crucial when you are settling in for the night and don't want to fiddle with controls.
This product is ideal for anyone who struggles to fall asleep due to noise or discomfort from other devices. If you are a side sleeper, these are likely the only earbuds that will remain undisturbed all night. The 7-hour battery life is sufficient for a full night's sleep plus a nap, though it falls short of the multi-day endurance offered by open-ear models. You should consider skipping these if you plan to use them for high-intensity sports or running, as the in-ear design does not allow for the same level of environmental awareness as the ABCDONG model. They are a specialized tool for rest, not a general-purpose audio device.

In my opinion, if I were buying a pair of earbuds specifically for airplane travel, I would choose the ABCDONG Earbuds Open Ear. The combination of 42 hours of battery life, the ability to hear flight announcements, and the open-ear design that prevents ear fatigue makes it the superior choice for transit. While the Niecase earbuds are excellent for sleeping, they lack the versatility required for a journey where you need to be alert and connected. The ABCDONG model strikes the right balance between immersive audio and necessary environmental awareness, making it the more practical companion for the modern traveler.
Yes, the ABCDONG Earbuds Open Ear are particularly well-suited for air travel due to their open-ear design, which allows you to hear crew announcements while listening to content. The Niecase model is better suited for sleeping on the plane but lacks the situational awareness needed during the flight itself.
Neither model features active electronic noise cancellation (ANC). The Niecase Sleep Earbuds use passive noise isolation through a snug fit, while the ABCDONG model relies on directional audio and an open design to let ambient sound in.
The ABCDONG Earbuds Open Ear provide up to 4 hours of playtime on a single charge, extending to 42 hours with the case. The Niecase Sleep Earbuds offer approximately 7 hours of continuous playback on a single charge.
The ABCDONG Earbuds Open Ear are designed for sports with an IPX7 waterproof rating and a secure clip-on fit that handles sweat well. The Niecase Sleep Earbuds are lightweight but are primarily engineered for rest and are not marketed for high-intensity athletic activities.
