Prof. Sandhu is the Director of AI Hub, Chair of the Cybersecurity Leaders Alliance, an Honorary Distinguished Professor, and an internationally recognized research leader with over 28 years of experience in IT, and advanced expertise in Cybersecurity, Fintech, Venture Capital, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Quantum Computing, Metaverse, Data Analytics, and Digital Enterprise Innovations, that are modernizing societies, economies, businesses, universities, and governments. Editor of 8 Books and published internationally over 220 articles in peer-reviewed (refereed) journals (several high-ranking journals, A Rank, ABDC Journal Quality List), conferences, and book chapters.  He earned his Ph.D. from the Deakin University Melbourne campus. 

He serves on the board of reviewers for several top A Rank prestigious journals (e.g. International Journal of Consumer Studies, International Journal of Accounting & Information Management, Economics Letters, and several others) and is an invited guest editor for journals special issues in Cybersecurity and Blockchain FinTech Innovations (Guest Editor of International Journal of Accounting & Information Management, to lead the Special Issue: Blockchain and Fintech Innovation, on the invitation from the regular editor Prof. Han Donker, Central Washington University, USA; and Guest Editor of Emerging Applications of Information Security Technology in Digital Environment).

Dr. Sandhu’s research in digital innovation has gained him international acclaim and he received prestigious and competitive research grants, including a grant from the Australian Government to lead a world-first project aimed at preventing and detecting cybersecurity threats. Dr. Sandhu, named an Australian Principal Investigator (PI), was one of just twelve Australian researchers, and the only Cybersecurity project to receive this honor from the Australian government, ARCH-India, Australia India Institute, at the University of Melbourne. 

He is also the founder/Director and Chair of the Research & International Programs of the AI Hub for Cybersecurity and Digital Innovation which provides collaboration opportunities for scientists, researchers, academics, practitioners, universities, businesses, and government. He is the Chair, of the Australia-India Cybersecurity Leaders Alliance, and the Australia-India Cybersecurity International Symposiums hosted at Hilton Sydney, Hilton Melbourne, Hotel Leela Palace New Delhi, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) at Punjab India, and the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK), at Kerala India. 

The International Symposiums were attended by large numbers of senior delegates from the Australian-Indian universities, VC (PAU), PVCs, Deans, Heads, Directors of Research, Professors, Senior Ministerial Government delegations, and  Industry  Senior  Executives from Microsoft, IBM,  HCL  Technologies Limited, Amazon Web Services, Ernst & Young Australia, CSIRO, ING Australia, Deloitte (San Francisco), Grant Thornton LLP, Arlington, Virginia, United States, LogRhythm, Gulf & India, Paramount Doha Qatar, VARINDIA, Former National Cyber Coordinator India, Defence Services Australia-India, Indian Administrative Services, Power Grid Corporation of India, Western Australia Police Force, IIT Delhi, Scientist G- DST India, and IWA Digital Water India.

Throughout his advanced career, Dr. Sandhu has held several senior academic teaching and research positions at leading universities across the world, including Professor at the University of Northern British Columbia Canada, Senior Research Fellow at the University of South Australia, and other Senior Academic positions at the University of Wollongong, Charles Darwin University, Deakin University, & University of South Pacific at Fiji. He is a Visiting Professor at Punjab Agricultural University, and Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode and an Honorary Distinguished Professor of Cybersecurity at Swami Vivekananda University. 

Having extensive expertise as a Ph.D. Principal Supervisor (Advisor & Ph.D. thesis examiner), and mentored several Ph.D. Research students to successful completion with the highest merit award of the Chancellor’s Doctoral Research Medal, and students have successfully gained academic and research appointments at leading international universities. 

He is the recipient of the Vice Chancellors & Pro Vice Chancellors Teaching Commendation Awards. Enjoy teaching international and local students and have multidisciplinary experience working across different Faculties such as Business, Accounting, Finance, Management, IT & IS, Software, and Computer Science. Before that having held industry Senior Consulting positions in Sydney & India.

Serves on committees at the university and professional associations, editorial boards (editor), and working with industry leaders.
