Abbas is a highly skilled expert in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), specializing in speech and language processing, computer vision, and machine learning. Currently serving as the AI leader at PwC UK, he previously held the position of Applied Sciences Leader with the Government of UAE. Before that, he led the Cognitive & Analytics competency at IBM.

Abbas earned his Ph.D. in Machine Learning from Bournemouth University, UK, and further expanded his expertise through a Post-doctoral fellowship in Explainability and Generative Pretrained Transformers at the Data Science and AI lab, New York University, UAE. He has authored over a dozen papers published in refereed conferences and holds a patent. His current research interests encompass meta-reinforcement learning, deep learning, ethical AI & explainability, and generative AI.

Since 2017, Abbas has been a Chartered Statistician with the Royal Statistical Society and a Chartered IT Professional with the British Computer Society since 2010. He is also a fellow of the Operational Research Society and the Science Society.

Having extensively traveled across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia Pacific, Abbas's experience working with global teams has enhanced not only his technical understanding but also his management and planning skills. Beyond his professional pursuits, Abbas is a right-arm fast-medium bowler and middle-order batsman who played for Corfe Mullen Cricket Club, UK, from 2013 to 2016.
