FORGIVING THE PAST

Torn between the pain of her past and the future that won’t let her live.

Claire McGuire a divorced thirty-five-year-old workaholic finds herself full of anger after her mother’s unexpected death instead of sadness. She struggles internally so much so that it causes her to collapse, almost having a heart attack. Even with such challenges before her. She ignores the pain of what her past has caused her. She continues to work long hours as her mother did as head of the marketing department with a well-known company Brown and Jones Agency. Pretending everything is fine, she tries to hide the fact that she can no longer deal with her pain by herself. She knows she needs help but is unsure of what to do.

She finds herself drawn to going to church, which is something she’s not accustomed to doing. The church she chooses is her parents old church where they are now buried. Her first visit is awkward and gives her no relief from her pain. The anger within is more than she can handle. She knows she needs a miracle to overcome her grief—so she prays to God.

On one of her visits to her parents church she meets an older gentleman named Joe Bradford who is a businessman. He owns a civil engineering company called Bradford Development. She learns that he too is looking for resolution from living a past of regret. He worked so much to build his company. In the routine of working day and night he lost sight of what it was doing to his family. Only in his old age did he see the damage it had caused. He feels so alone. He never hears from his two children and after his wife died, he realizes he is left with the pain of not being a good father. Overtime they become friends and with twist and turns Claire soon learns they have more in common then she first realizes.

Further complicating her emotional pain, she feels physical pain and suffers a heart attack which is the same thing that took her mom from this world. She is rescued by a stranger. Claire isn’t prepared to fall in love with a stranger, but after their first encounter she finds herself captivated by him in a way she cannot explain. The more she gets to know him, the more she can see something in him she can’t ignore.

But as time passes, she is once again faced with a harsh reality that she’s not in control. Is it too late or will she learn to move forward with forgiveness in her heart and defeat the war within that wants to take her under?
