Hello! I’m Evan, a ceramic artist and designer based in Speyside, Scotland.
My journey with clay began in high school, where ceramics gave me a space to explore my creativity. I later spent a short but hugely influential apprenticeship with John Christie of Blackhills Pottery, which encouraged me to pursue art school.
I went on to study Three Dimensional Design at Gray’s School of Art, including a year abroad at PXL in Hasselt, Belgium. Moving between a design-focused course and a fine art environment shaped the way I work today, blending both approaches within my ceramic practice.
I graduated from Gray’s in June 2026 with First Class Honours and have been developing my practice through exhibitions, markets and commercial work with shops across Scotland and England throughout the past four years.
I’ve also been offered a place to study an MA at the Royal College of Art in London, which I’m aiming to begin in September 2027. Until then, I’m continuing to develop my practice as a Graduate in Residence at Gray’s, while growing my business and saving for the move to London.

My Honours Project, focused on a local wild clay, and methods of using and firing it as a material or glaze.
A landscape tile, decorated with glazes made with a wild clay local to me. Displayed on handmade stands crafted with old whisky cask staves.
I often use video in my practice, and have an interest in projecting images and showing other sides of my process.
My 2026 Dissertation
In the form of a video/interview. Footage including myself, my lovely dog Bobby and locations such as Dufftown and Gray's School of Art.
Audio interview is with Kerstin Gren, a ceramic artist local to me with a beautiful process and way of both making and thinking. Thank you again Kerstin!
I really enjoy making videos about my process and I aim to set up this youtube channel for future videos.
