The Knox County Schools employs approximately 4,000 teachers. They experience 5-10% turnover each year.
The various aspects of employment such as human resources, payroll, absence management, learning management system, curriculum, etc. are located in various digital locations and are supported by various departments. Feedback from new employees indicated that acquiring the knowledge and resources needed is confusing and frustrating. Searching for information and support consumes a large amount of cognitive load that could be devoted to working with students.
I designed and authored a website that collocates all of the information related to technology and platforms touched by my team to ease this burden on teachers. The hope is that other departments will append their resources to this site to make it a one-stop-shop for new employees.
