Cardenillo / Carta al espacio consta de 42 pequeñas piezas escultóricas que, en conjunto, forman una carta escrita.

Esta elección de formato se basa en la etimología de la palabra cartografía, que proviene de charta, en referencia a los mapas o la comunicación a través del papel, y graphía, relacionada con las representaciones gráficas. Desde mi llegada a Alemania, gran parte de mi comunicación ha ocurrido a través de mensajes de texto con familiares y amigos, en los que he intentado describir lugares y mis emociones sobre ellos, estableciendo paralelismos entre Berlín y la Ciudad de México.

A partir de esta experiencia, decidí escribir una carta donde expreso mis impresiones y aspiraciones en un lugar fuera de mi país de origen. Las piezas incluyen siluetas de México y Berlín, así como fragmentos de la carta que escribí sobre mí y ambas ciudades, con la intención de crear una narrativa que vincule estos dos espacios a través de una escritura ilegible.

Además, he incorporado detalles en verde esmeralda como referencia a la pátina del bronce europeo presente en esculturas y edificios, la cual también puede encontrarse en algunas construcciones icónicas de México, estableciendo así una conexión visual a través del color.

Cardenillo / Letter to the space consists of 42 small sculptural pieces that together form a written letter. 

This choice of format is based on the etymology of the word cartography, derived from charta, meaning map or communication through paper, and graphía, referring to graphic representations. Since my arrival in Germany, much of my communication has taken place through text messages, both with my family and friends, with whom I have attempted to describe places and my emotions about them by drawing parallels between Berlin and Mexico City. In this way, I decided to write a letter expressing my impressions and aspirations in a place outside my country of origin. The pieces include silhouettes of Mexico and Berlin, as well as fragments of the letter I wrote about myself and both cities, aiming to create a narrative that links these two places through illegible writing. 

Additionally, I have used details painted in emerald green to reference the European bronze present in sculptures and buildings, which can also be found in some iconic buildings in Mexico, establishing a visual connection through color.

Para este dibujo, utilicé una imagen satelital de Oaxaca y comencé a alterar gradualmente las formas, llegando incluso a inventar montañas y elevaciones, inspirado por el potencial ficticio que encontré en las imágenes de Google Earth.

En el centro del dibujo, se puede leer la frase "Tierra Ficticia" en una tipografía que evoca las antiguas cartografías. Además, el término ficticia simboliza la representación que creé a partir de una imagen “real” extraída de Google Earth.

A través de modificaciones personales, se genera una compleja ilusión de territorio y espacio.

For this drawing, I used a satellite image of Oaxaca and gradually began altering the shapes, even inventing mountains and elevations, inspired by the f ictional potential I found in Google Earth images. 

At the center of the drawing, the phrase “Fictitious Land” can be read in a typography reminiscent of old cartographies. Additionally, the term fictitious symbolizes the representation I created based on a “real” image extracted from Google Earth.

Through personal modifications, a complex illusion of territory and space is generated.
