Supporting Generative Writing for Emergent and Early Conventional Learners
This workshop will support students with complex needs, including students who use AAC and need to use alternative pencils, rather than traditional writing tools.
This workshop will share strategies for teaching students 'process writing', including planning, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing writing.
Caroline Musselwhite has more than 45 years experience working with people with complex challenges, including AAC. She has worked in scores of classroms across the world and presented thousands of workshops.
Anne Page is an SLP and the lead assistive technology coordinator for Roosevelt Elementary School District. Anne has presented on AAC at ASHA and her social media blog is titled Beautiful Speech Life.
Brenda Del Monte is an SLP, AAC Evaluator/Trainer, Author of “I See You In There" and co-founder of the non-profit, Believe Beyond Ability.
Laurel Buell is an OT, special educator and AT/AAC Specialist. She is a mom and grandma and a dedicated employee of Therapy One in Mesa, AZ.
Staci Dover is a former National Board Certified Teacher, a reading specialist, and AAC SLP. She enjoys coaching families and schools, and teaches an NAU graduate course on Assistive Technology and Literacy.
Krista works directly with people who use AAC as a tutor and model. She has worked with student groups with Caroline Musselwhite and Kate Ahern, and is a carer to a young woman who uses AAC. She also provides AAC consulting to schools and other programs.
Tina Lorenzana is mother to Aya who is a multi-modal communicator and uses AAC. Tina hosts online groups for families of AAC users. She teaches online classes called LiterAACy Sessions that incorporate literacy activities and AAC.
Brooke Brown is a persistent AAC and disability advocate as Ms. Wheelchair Arizona 2022 and State Coordinator for Ms. Wheelchair America. She also teaches storytelling techniques to inspire hope and healing from hardships.
Lynsey is an SLP at a private pediatric clinic, where she is AAC Program Director. She enjoys providing direct services as well as consultations and support for therapists, teams, and families on their AAC journey.
Abbie is an SLP at Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency in Iowa. She works directly with preschool students on all aspects of language, literacy, and AAC. She loves collaborating with teachers and families of new AAC users.
Lauren Fuhr is a special education teacher in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. She has taught for 13 years and is currently employed with Community High School District 218.
