Ani joined the Oxford University Computing Laboratory (now Department of Computer Science) in September 2002. From April 1996 until August 2002 she was a Research Assistant in the Oxford Manufacturing Research Group based in the Engineering Science Department of Oxford University.
She is also an Official Fellow (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning), Reuben College, and a Senior Research Fellow, Institute for New Economic Thinking, University of Oxford.
Since October 2021, she has been a Turing Fellow at the Alan Turing Institute, London.
Her research interests include Complex Networked Systems and Complexity Metrics, Agent-based modelling, Control and Prediction of complex systems such as Financial Markets and Supply Chains, Digital Twins, and The Cost and Value of Information.
