This workshop took place in person at 2435 NQ, with the option to participate on Zoom.
Session Description:
Come and join us at A2D2's Workshop Day, consisting of a SQL workshop and a Tableau data visualization workshop on Saturday, December 4th at 2435 NQ. The SQL workshop will be led by SQL experts Ihtesham Uddin and Michael Hess. This is a great opportunity to learn more about database management, SQL queries and concepts, professional and industrial skills, connect with other participants and experts, and much more. Data visualization expert Elsie Lee-Robbins will lead the data visualization workshop, focusing on how to design an effective data visualization and how to bring it to life using Tableau.

What are data visualizations concepts? How can we visualize data effectively in Tableau?
In this workshop, you will learn the fundamental guidelines of what makes a good data visualization. Elsie will run a tutorial on how to use Tableau and together we will go through a walkthrough example of visualizing data in Tableau. You will also have a chance to work with other data enthusiasts and practice designing data visualizations.
Elsie Lee-Robbins is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Information at the University of Michigan. Her background in Psychology is a foundation to understand the perceptual and cognitive processes of how people read data visualizations. Her research interests are data visualization, human-computer interaction, and decision-making. Her academic research explores how to design effective communicative visualizations.
