Jay is an 8th grader who struggles with acne, which hinders his self confidence. After many attempts at trying different medicine to help with his acne, Jay is finally put on Accutane as the last resort. Not only does Jay have to worry about his acne, but he has to figure out who his friends are. His old friend Brace has joined a band, which does not leave too much time for Jay and him to hang out. Follow Jay on his journey of finding out who he is, while also fighting the battle of acne.
About the Author: Jarrod Green is cartoonist and wrote A-Okay. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice. He currently resides in Vermont where he also got a Master of Fine Arts from The Center of Cartoon Studies. He enjoys writing, illustrating, and coloring. This is the second book that he has wrote. His first book is Scullion.
Ingredients:
1 cup white sugar
½ cup unsalted butter
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 ¾ teaspoons baking powder
½ cup milk
Directions:
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9-inch square cake pan.
Step 2: Cream sugar and butter together in a mixing bowl. Add eggs, one at a time, beating briefly after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
Step 3: Combine flour and baking powder in a separate bowl. Add to the wet ingredients and mix well. Add milk and stir until smooth. Pour batter into the prepared cake pan.
Step 4: Bake in the preheated oven until the top springs back when lightly touched, 30 to 40 minutes.
Step 5: Once cupcakes are cooled off after 15 minutes, cute middle of cupcake out and pour in with the filling of your choice.
Step 6: Rollout fondant on a flat surface, cutting out circular shapes and an extra circle in the middle for the "pimple" that will be placed onto the top of the cupcake
Step 7: Brush a little bit of edible red paint around the middle circle of the fondant, lining up on the cupcakes. Top of the pimple with extra filling!
Step 8: Squeeze Away!
Ingredients:
1 cup of green tea
1/2 teaspoon of Epsom salts
2 tablespoons of bentonite clay
Directions:
Step 1: Steep 1 cup of green tea at least 5 minutes.
Step 2: Scoop 2 tablespoons of cooled down tea into a bowl. Dissolve 1/2 teaspoon of Epsom salts in the tea in the bowl. Mix in about 2 tablespoons of bentonite clay and stir until you have a smooth paste.
Step 3: Spread the paste evenly over your skin. You can enjoy the remaining cup of tea as you relax with your mask. Wait 10 to 15 minutes before removing it with warm water.
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon pure, organic turmeric powder
1 teaspoon organic, raw apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon unsweetened coconut milk or plain yogurt
2 tablespoons raw, organic, locally sourced honey
1 drop of fresh lemon juice (optional)
Directions:
Step 1: Thoroughly wash your face with your regular cleanser to remove impurities.
Step 2: Measure out a teaspoon each of turmeric, apple cider vinegar, and coconut milk (or yogurt). Then, add two tablespoons of honey and mix together in a bowl or jar until it forms a thick paste that will easily stick to your skin without dripping.
Step 3: Apply a thin layer to your face and neck with a spatula, avoiding the eye area, and leave it on for about 15 minutes (less for sensitive skin).
Step 4: Make sure to wash off as much of the mask as possible before patting your face dry with a towel.
