Teddy Albaugh, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Albaugh, died of pneumonia at their home in the town of York, Clark County, Wis., north of Romadka Saturday. He was a student at the Granton High School and a remarkably fine boy. His age was about 16 years. Mr. and Mrs. Albaugh lost a son in the army and the death of this bright boy is another hard blow. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved family.

Darlene L. Albers, 75, Medford, died Tuesday, July 1 at her home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 3 at 3 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating. Interment of her cremated remains will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Kelly, Jeff, Michael and Megan Mancl, Jessie and Adam Bohn and Jeremy and Jason Albers.

Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.

Arthur James "Jim" Albert, age 71, passed away Sunday February 19, 2006 at his residence, 880 Jonathon Way, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701. Jim was born February 19, 1935 the son of C. O. (Chub) and Lorraine Albert in Marshfield, WI. Jim and Pat (Malinowski) were united in marriage on June 17, 1961 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen, WI.

Jim’s working life began as a truck driver for the Owen Pea Cannery followed by Thorp Finance Corp., and finally a mail carrier before working and co-owning Owen-Withee Motors and Albert Leasing Company. In 1988 he and Pat moved to Central Florida where they managed motels for Marcus Corporation until his retirement in 1994. Upon retirement he worked part-time for Document Courier Service and as a Crossing Guard for Seminole County Schools.

While in Owen-Withee, he was an active member of the Lions Club, golfed and bowled as often as he could, and as a member of Holy Rosary Catholic church he was a part of the Holy Name Men’s Club and was a 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.

Jim will be dearly missed by his wife Pat; their children; Peggy, Orlando, FL, Joseph, Jacksonville, FL, and Cindy, Eau Claire, WI; granddaughters Jessica and Kristie, Jacksonville, FL; sister, Jean (Mike) Ravet of Wausaukee, WI; sisters and brothers-in-law: Jackie Ticknor, Greendale, WI, Frances (Whitey) Bak, Burbank, IL, Stella (Stanley) Halida Sr., Lublin, WI, Marcie (Jerry) Kotlowski, Grand Marsh, WI, Mary Ann (Jerry) Wnek, Thorp, WI, Josephine (Wally) Czuba, Moline, IL, and Marcie Higley, Mission Viejo, CA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents C. O. and Lorraine, his brother Sam, and daughter-in-law Kim.

Visitation with family and friends was held on February 25, 2006 from 11-2:00 p.m. at the South Seminole Chapel of Collision Family Funeral Homes. Funeral services at 2:00 p.m. were (was) officiated by his pastor, Monsignor Edward Thompson from Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs. Following the funeral, a gathering for family and friends was held at Jim and Pat’s home in celebration and remembrance of Jim’s life with us.

Charles Albert, 79, died at the Marshfield Hospital at eleven-thirty o’clock Thursday evening, Feb. 29th, 1940, after undergoing an operation for ruptured appendix. Death was caused by peritonitis resulting from the rupture.

Mr. Albert has been a resident of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) for the past forty-six years. When first arriving here he was employed by his brother, Albert Albert in Thorp’s first creamery, and later operated the farm in the Town of Thorp for ten years before moving to the village. Since that time he and Mrs. Albert ran a little grocery. About ten years ago Mr. Albert lost his eyesight.

Always cheerful despite his affliction, his friendly greeting and ready wit will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Chas. Albert was born in Horicon, Wis., Dodge Co., on July 25, 1860, the eldest of twelve children of Charles and Augusta Albert. He attended the Horicon High School and in 1883 was united in marriage to Emma Ende. One son was born to this union. He was married to Minnie Ende of Horicon on March 30, 1891, who, with his son George Albert of Stratford, survive him. Other relatives surviving are three brothers, Theodore of Withee, Adolph of Vesper, and Alvin of New Holstein; two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Lawson of New Holstein, Wis. and Alvina Albert of Pittsville, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows Fraternity for fifty-eight years and an active member of the Forest Queen Lodge No. 321 of Thorp.

Funeral services were held on last Sunday afternoon at the Bogumill Funeral Home here and were conducted by the Odd Fellows Lodge members and Rev. Jas. Irish, pastor of the M.E. Church. The remains were taken the same evening to Horicon, Wis., where services at the grave were conducted on Monday afternoon by the Horicon Odd Fellows Lodge.

Edward H. Albert, 82, died on Friday, April 13, 2012 in Albuquerque, NM. Edward was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI.

He was a veteran of the United States Army. He resided in the township of Little Black WI for the majority of his life. He and his wife, Beatrice, owned and operated Black River Gardens - a pick-your-own strawberry farm, as well as an H & R Block office in Medford, WI.

In 2004, he relocated to New Mexico with his family. Edward was preceded in death by Beatrice, his wife of 49 years; and Jonathon, his son.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary; son-in-law, Dennis; and grandchildren, Katherine and Matthew. Per his wishes, there will be no formal memorial services. Edward will return to Wisconsin to rest near his wife, Beatrice and son, Jonathon.

OWEN - Julia Albert, 92, Owen, died Friday, April 20,2001, at the Rosewood Villa Retirement Center in Thorp, where she had resided since May of 2000.

Funeral services for Julia will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2001, at the United Church of Christ in Owen. Rev. Robert Everhard, pastor, and former pastor Rev. Ralph Claybaugh will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Withee.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 1:30 p.m. until service time Monday at the church.

The former Julia Thorson was born July 22,1908, in the town of Longwood, rural Withee, the daughter of Tobias and Helen (nee Erickson) Thorson. She received her early education in the town of Longwood and was a 1926 graduate of Withee High School. Julia was employed with the National Tea Company in Minneapolis from 1928 until 1933. She and Edgar T. Albert were united in marriage on May 27,1933, in Minneapolis.

Julia and Edgar were very active in the Owen-Withee Ladies fellowship, serving as president, secretary, treasurer and chairperson of her Circle for five years, sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School.

Julia was on the Withee Library Board from 1953 to 1972, and also served on the election I board for the village of Withee for I eight years. She and Edgar were I former owners of Owen-Withee I Motors, retiring in 1971. She will always be remembered for her homemade bread I and cookie baking.

Besides many Mends and relatives, Julia will be dearly missed by her two sons, Ron (Mary Alice) Albert of Hot Springs Village, Ark., and Darrell (Joan) Albert of Owen; a sister, Mildred Grimes of Owen; five grandchildren, Donna Jean (Chip) Weber of Scottsdale, Ariz., Randy (Shari) Albert of Hatley, David Albert of Howards Grove, Dean (Heather) Albert of Elora, Tenn., and Ted (Christina) Albert of Huntsville, Ala.; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Albert on Nov. 13,1988; and six sisters, Lill Haire, Nell Haire, Ella Snyder, Sadie Thorson, Edna Bowen and Bess Thorson.

Funeral services were held at St. Bernard's Catholic Church for Mrs. Nellie Albert, 86, who passed away Thursday, Jan. 23, 1964 at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley. Father Millert officiated at the ten a.m. service on Monday, Jan. 27th.

Nellie Gorman was born Feb. 1, 1877 at New London, Wis. On Jan. 12, 1898 she married Albert at Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis. Mr. Albert passed away in 1930.

AGED RESIDENT DIES FRIDAY

Hans Albertson, 85, died shortly after 8:00 o'clock Friday evening at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Emberson (Greenwood, Clark County), following an illness of six weeks duration.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Rev. M. K Aaberg officiating. The body was taken to Green County for burial.

Deceased is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Martin Johnson and Mrs. John Emberson, both of Greenwood, and three sons, Carl of Blanchardville and Albert and Amund of Douglas, N.D.

Colby, Clark Co., Wis. - Arthur A. Albrecht, 62, died of a heart ailment Saturday at 6 p.m. at his home in the town of Holton, Marathon Co.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Dorchester, the Rev. F. H. Sprengler will officiate and burial will be made in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.

The body is reposing at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby.

Mr. Albrecht was born in dodge Co. Jan. 16, 1898. He received his education in the Watertown area. After his marriage at Stratford to the former Erna Spindler on Nov. 1, 1927, he operated the Cloverleaf cheese factory in the town of Emmett, Marathon Co., for 18 years. From 1945 to 1948, he ran a cheese factory at Granton, Clark Co. and later at the Holton cheese factory. He was a member of the Central Wis. Cheesemakers Association.

Surviviors include his wife; a son, Donald, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Jerme (Betty) Radlinger, Dorchester; three sisters, Mrs. Milan Andrich, Milwaukee, Mrs. Theodore Bartz, Stratford, and Mrs. Herman Metzke, Greenwood; two brothers, George Albrecht, Stratford and Edwin Albrecht, Milwaukee; and one grandchild.

Funeral services for Arthur A. Albrecht, 62, who died suddenly Saturday, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Dorchester.  The Rev. F. H. Sprengler officiated.  Interment was made in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers were six nephews of the deceased: Fred Albrecht, Kenneth Albright, James Metzke, Dale, Gerald and Robert Spindler.

Mr. Albrecht was born Jan. 16, 1898 in Dodge County and was educated in the Watertown area.  On Nov. 1, 1927, he and the former Erna Spindler were married at Stratford.

For 18 years, Mr. Albrecht operated the Cloverleaf Cheese Factory in the town of Emmett, Marathon County and from 1945 to 1948, he had a cheese factory at Granton.  On March 5, 1948, he purchased the Holton Cheese Factory, northeast of Abbotsford.

Although Mr. Albrecht had suffered a heart attack in 1951, his death occurred unexpectedly at his home Saturday at 6 p.m.

Mr. Albrecht was a member of the Central Wis. Cheese Makers’ Association.

Surviving him are his widow and son, Donald, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Jerome (Betty) Radlinger, and granddaughter, Wulene? Radlinger, Dorchester.

He leaves two brothers and three sisters, Edwin Albrecht and Mrs. Milan Andrich, Milwaukee; George Albrecht and Mrs. Theodore Bartz of Stratford, and Mrs. Herman Metzke, Greenwood.

Relatives and friends attending the funeral came from Chicago, Watertown, Milwaukee, Stratford, Greenwood, Wausau, Marathon, Medford, Marshfield, Spencer, Edgar, Dorchester and Abbotsford.

Donald J. “Tiny” Albrecht, 79, of Lake Holcombe passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, at the Ladysmith Nursing Home in Ladysmith.

He was born the son of Arthur and Erna (Spindler) Albrecht on May 24, 1935, in Edgar.

Donald graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1953 and worked at Holton Cheese Factory and became co-owner in 1960. On Oct. 16, 1965, he married Sharon Ann Stubbs in Dorchester. In 1974 they established Albrecht’s Cheese, a well-known store in the Lake Holcombe community. They operated the store until retiring in 2000. After retiring he worked for Markquart Motors, shuttling cars between dealers. Tiny had been a resident in the Ladysmith Nursing Home for the past several years.

Donald was a 50 plus year Lions Club Member and was the 2nd President of the Dorchester Lions Club as well as a Charter member. He was also an avid Packer Fan.

Donald is survived by his sister, Betty (Jerry) Radlinger of Dorchester; niece, Julene (James) Mueller of Phillips; great-nephew, Kirk Cwikla; great-niece, Amber Von Seggern; special friends, Karen and Bob Langland of Holcombe; several great-great-nieces, nephews and a special buddy, Sparky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon; infant son; and a nephew, Troy Cwikla.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at the Holcombe United Methodist Church with Rev. Jason Kim officiating.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the Church.

Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery in Dorchester.

Following the service, a Celebration and lunch will be held at Paradise Shores in Holcombe.

Earl G. Albrecht, 87, Athens died Tuesday June 6, 2017 at home under the care of his family and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Earl was born February 26, 1930 to the late Peter and Emma (Braun) Albrecht on the family farm in the town of Rietbrock. He met his childhood sweetheart Nancy Morse and always saved her a seat on the bus, eventually marrying her on November 30, 1953. He was her loving husband for over 63 years.

Earl was a hardworking and dedicated family man. As a dairy and ginseng farmer, he knew the value of home, love of family and friends. Many in the community may know Earl from being a local seed-corn dealer, serving on the Athens Co-op board of directors, lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church where he worshipped, ushered and served on church committees. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, playing Sheepshead, Packer parties, going to Canada fishing and deer hunting with family, friends and neighbors. One of his favorite pastimes was listening and dancing to the Polka music he loved. With God's blessing, Earl survived and his family had 12 more years with him, after being diagnosed with stage four Sarcoma.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; his eight children, Louise (Jeff) Ellenbecker, Michael (Sandra) Albrecht, Karen (Alan) Schmitt, Norbert (Karen) Albrecht, Peter (Barb) Albrecht, Lisa (Andy) Spahn and twins, Denise (Steve) Balz and Dennis (Noreen) Albrecht; 27 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Walton; two brothers-in-law, Robert Lenz and Norman Hamby; four sisters-in-law, Helen (Tom) Giese, Audrey (Harold) Pruss, Alberta (Wayne) Walker and Sally (Lamont) Mienen; many nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends and neighbors.

Earl was also preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille, Viola and his twin sister, Ellen; a grandson, Kevin; his step-mother, Erna Gassner; three brothers-in-law, Barney Schmitt, Russ Walton and Sonny Morse; and a sister-in-law, Judy Morse.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday June 10, 2017 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. George Graham will preside. Family and friends may call from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens is in charge of the arrangements.

The first portion of this obit for Emma Louise (Thiel) Albrecht is missing; In the Town of Hewett. She lived on the farm for two years after her husband’s death in 1940. Since 1942, she had made her home with her children, and entered Memorial Home in July, 1966.

She is survived by a son, Richard Albrecht of Neillsville; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Albrecht was a member of the United Church of Christ.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the United Church of Christ for Mrs. Emma Albrecht, 93, of Memorial Home, who died February 9 in Neillsville. The Rev. W. C. Koehler officiated with burial taking place in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Emma Louise Thiel was born April 28, 1873, in Fond du Lac County. She received her education in Ripon. On October 8, 1891, she was married in Ripon to Herman Albrecht, who died in 1940. They farmed in Green Lake County for 13 years, coming to Clark County in 1905 and locating on a farm in the Town of Hewett. She lived on the farm for two years after her husband’s death.

Since 1942 she had made her home with her children, and entered Memorial Home in July 1966.

She is survived by a son, Richard Albrecht of Neillsville; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Albrecht was a member of the United Church of Christ.

Henry Albrecht, aged 77, passed away at the Neillsville hospital, on Sunday, September 26, after an illness of eight weeks. Brief funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 28, at the Jaster funeral home, followed by services at the Fremont Zion Lutheran church, and interment was made at Nasonville. Rev. Edward Melville, pastor of Zion church, officiated.

Mr. Albrecht was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, on March 18, 1866, and came to this country with his parents in 1875, settling in Clark county, where he has since resided. On May 6, 1890, he was married to Miss Susie Sanger, in the town of Lynn. Together they cleared 50 acres of timber land in the town of Lynn, making it into a fine farm, and resided there until 1937, when they retired and moved to their present home in Neillsville.

The deceased has long been a member of Fremont Zion Lutheran church, and has served the church faithfully.

He is survived by his wife, four daughters and two sons. The daughters are:- Mrs. Bertha Bartz, Granton; Mrs. Gustav (Irma) Kaddatz, Neillsville; Mrs. William (Lottie) Hoppe, Chili; and Mrs. August (Lillian) Selk, Wisconsin Rapids. The sons are the Rev. Ernest Albrecht, U.S. army chaplain in North Africa, and Harold Albrecht, Niagara Falls, N.Y. One son, Louis, died at the age of 17. There are thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One brother, William Albrecht, Lynn, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Juneau, Black Duck Minn., also survive.

The following relatives were pall bearers:- Donald Hughes, William Meier, James West, Raymond Kaddatz, Lawrence Bartz and Wilber Sanger.

Henry Albrecht, aged 77, passed away at the Neillsville hospital, on Sunday, September 26, after an illness of eight weeks. Brief funeral services were held on Tueday, September 28, at the Jaster Fuenral Home, followed by services at the Fremont Zion Lutheran Church, and interment was made at Nasonville. Rev. Edward Melville, pastor of Zion Church, officiated.

At 5 o’clock Tuesday morning at the dawn of a new day, Henry Albrecht, surrounded by those near and dear, breathed his last and passed over that silent river into the great beyond. Deceased was born in Germany on the 3rd day of May, 1840, where he grew to manhood, and at an early age was united in marriage to Miss Sophia Gundlack. To them were born 6 children, 5 sons and 1 daughter. Forty-one years ago, he, together with his family, emigrated to America and settled one year in Calumet County, Wis. The following year he moved to the township of Fremont, at that time a vast wilderness, and through many hardships and self-denials supported his family and provided a pleasant home. His wife preceded him in death ten years ago and those left to mourn his loss are Henry, Jr., and Wm. of Lynn, Charles of Fremont and Mrs. Frank Juneau of Black Duck, Minn., 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, two sons having passed away some years ago, one in infancy and the other at the age of 22 years.

The funeral services will be held in the Lutheran Church of Fremont at 1 o’clock Friday afternoon, Rev. Viergutz of Nasonville officiating and interment made in the Fremont Cemetery by the side of those who have gone before.

Jerome Albrecht, 86, Athens, died Saturday, May 20, 2017, on Jamie's Birthday, at Dycora Transitional Health in Abbotsford, under the care of Aseracare Hospice.

He was born April 3, 1931 on the family farm in the town of Rietbrock, son of the late John and Celia (Nowicki) Albrecht. The family farm was established in 1902 by his grandparents, Peter and Elizabeth Albrecht.

On September 3, 1956, he married Mary Ann Myszka at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2005.

In his younger years, Jerome worked on the first atomic submarine engine, while living in Milwaukee. He then moved back to Athens and worked as a bulldozer operator, ginseng farmer and dairy farmer until the age of 80, when he retired. Jerome was proud to have been a local advisor to former President George W. Bush.

Survivors include one son, James "Jamie" (Tammy Dvorak) Albrecht, Athens; one brother, John (Debbie) Albrecht, Edgar; two sisters, Dolores (Marvin) Osterbrink, Wausau and Pat (Tom) Niewolny, Rib Mountain; brother-in-law, Ervin (Lorraine) Myszka, Athens; sister-in-law, Doris Carroll, Copperas Cove, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, Mary Ann, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Julie Albrecht; one sister, Doris Albrecht; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Literski.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. George Graham will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Joseph Albrecht 98, of Athens, was called home to heaven on January 22, 2012.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. The Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens.

Friends may call Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.

He was born in Halsey Township on the Albrecht family farm, on May 16, 1913 to the late Frank and Katerina Albrecht.

On October 12, 1937 he married Rosella Schmitt at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wausau. They spent 72 years together and raised six daughters.

When Joe was 16, he took over running the family farm after his dad was injured in a car accident. He stayed on the farm until 1984, when he and Rosella retired to their home in Athens, where they spent the rest of their lives.

Over the years, Joe worked at many different jobs, including logging, making cheese, doing cement work, helping in the feed mill and saw mill. He did a lot of his own repair work on the farm. Joe was always available when the neighbors needed help. He was a life-long member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and was very active at St. Anthony Catholic Church. He was on the school board when they decided a new high school was needed. He was always a gentleman and conscious of others' feelings.

Joe enjoyed fishing, picking strawberries and socializing, especially when he could bring up the interesting stories about the "good old days." He always had a lot of those to tell. He and Rosella did a lot of traveling after retiring. Joe loved spending time with his family and playing sheepshead, which he did very well until the very end of his life.

Joe is survived by daughters, Rosemary (Dennis) Kraft of Wausau, Kathleen Writz and Nancy (Marvin) Reuter of Athens, Judy Wisniewski and Diane (Chuck) Humpal of Cadott and Teresa Albrecht of Amherst. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one granddaughter, his parents, seven brothers and two sisters.

The family would like to thank Dr. Cameron, his staff and the Aspirus Hospice House staff for their kind assistance during this difficult time.

She was born December 6, 1961 in Port Washington, the daughter of Jerome Albrecht of Athens and the late Mary Ann (Myszka) Albrecht.

Julie enjoyed watching sporting events on television, rides in the car and taking rides on the four-wheeler.

Leona A. Albrecht, 92, Medford, died on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at her home.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 12 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev. James Krueger officiating. Interment will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Active pallbearers are Pete, Todd, Terry, Travis, Zachary, Michael and Jason Albrecht, and Derek Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers are Tracy Chipman, Amy Albrecht, Amber Riley, Tanya Clyde, Elizabeth Vignali, Craig Chipman and Adam Vaughn.

Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday, Aug. 11 from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

The former Leona Dassow was born on September 24, 1920 in Whittlesey to the late William E. and Magdalena (Frischman) Dassow Sr. She attended Gad School. She moved to Milwaukee where she was a live-in nanny, then worked at a shoe factory for a year until returning to the area.

On August 4, 1942 in Dubuque, Iowa, she married Lorin A. Albrecht, who survives. She was a homemaker and mother. She was also a seamstress.

She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church and Sunny Hill Homemakers Club. She enjoyed fishing, camping, quilting, cooking and baking.

In addition to her husband, survivors include five children, Lorna Chipman, Gary (Georgine) Albrecht and Larry (fiancée Jane Lekie) Albrecht, all of Medford, George (Donna) Albrecht of Niceville, FL, and Bruce (Diane) Albrecht of Gad; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Michael and David Albrecht; six sisters, Elise Loeffler, Bert Diels, Amanda Steen, Gertrude Weiler, Hildagard Jari and Martha in infancy; and eight brothers, William, Ervin, Herbert, Ernest, Gerald, Lester, Raymond and Frank in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to her family to be designated at a later date.

Just before closing our forms we are informed of the death of Louis Albrecht, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Albrecht of the Town of Lynn.

The young man was severely injured at the sand pit accident several weeks ago, but according to reports received here recently he was getting along nicely and last Sunday was able to sit up for a short time.  His condition however changed to the worse again the first of the week and Thursday morning at 10 o’clock he fell into that peaceful slumber from which he will never awaken.  Louis was 19 years old, was very industrious and well liked by all who knew him. The bereaved family has our deepest sympathy.

The funeral of Louis Albrecht who died last week Thursday took place last Sunday, Rev. Reiff officiating.  Interment was made in the Nasonville Cemetery. His age was 17 years, 3 months and 22 days.

Louis Albrecht, son of H. Albrecht, who got hurt in the sand pit February 1st died last week Thursday at 10 o’clock a.m. for a while it seemed as though he would get well, but it was false hope. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock at the house, from there the body was taken to the Fremont church where Rev. Reiff held the funeral services. The remains were laid to rest in the Nasonville Lutheran Cemetery. 

Louis was born November 2, 1892 and brought his age to 17 years, 3 months and 21 days.  He leaves father, mother, several sisters, a young brother and many relatives to mourn his loss.

Lynette “Lynnie” Laura Albrecht, 55, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning, April 9, 2006 at Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau after a courageous five-year battle with cancer.

Lynn was born on September 30, 1950 in Wausau, the daughter of devoted parents Lawrence & Vera Gantner, who survive and continue to live in the same Wausau home they built the year Lynn was born. Lynn attended Wausau Newman High School, then graduated from the new Wausau West High School in 1969.

Lynn grew up with the love of two brothers, Brian and Scott, both of whom continue to reside in Wausau. Lynn always admired older brother Brian and younger brother Scott, and she was also blessed with a large and loving extended family of uncles, aunts, and cousins. Most especially she was blessed with Brian’s wife Sue Gantner, who became the close friend and sister she didn’t have at home. Throughout Lynn’s painful hardship with cancer, Sue was there to provide the love and medical support to help her make the best of all the days Lynn had.

Lynn enjoyed a lifetime career of medical care, beginning as a Junior Aide at Wausau Hospital while still in high school. After that, she worked many years as an OB Technician, and then interrupted her service to the hospital by taking a position at Marywood Convalescent Center where she cared for her grandmother in her final years. In 1986 Lynn returned to Wausau Hospital as an Anesthesia Technician giving comfort and care to thousands of patients in critical surgery. Lynn was loved and respected by many doctors and staff at Aspirus Wausau Hospital for her long years of dedicated service.

On June 6, 1992, Lynn married Jim Albrecht of Mosinee at Good News Baptist Church, with their three children participating in the wedding ceremony. Meeting on a blind date bike ride, the couple rode by the river property they would later buy to build Lynn’s dream of a log home. Lynn loved decorating with antiques, birdhouses, pictures, and crafts, and together Lynn and Jim opened their home to guests by operating a log home dealership from their home. Lynn loved her pets. First Sam and Odie, then Roscoe, Gidget, Spicie, and Peekaboo knew the special care that Lynn gave them.

Lynn loved the outdoors and travel. Her favorite outdoor activities included biking, skiing, snow shoeing, and hiking. Many weekends and vacations were spent seeking out trails. Lynn was also a strong swimmer and enjoyed good health even through much of her treatment time for breast cancer. Lynn also loved cooking and seeing the family gather around the dinner table for holidays and birthdays. Many vacations were spent with Jim’s extended family in Ontario on skiing and camping trips.

Lynn is survived by one son, Ryan Juers (Wausau), and two stepdaughters, Erika Albrecht (Marathon) and Tanya Albrecht (Nashville). Ryan (Jennifer) has been the light of Lynn’s life and their love and support for one another was always cherished by both. Erika (Dave Quiggle) and Tanya formed a special bond with Lynn, who loved her expanded family dearly and delighted to share in their happiness.

Lynn was blessed with six grandchildren, with another expected soon. Her times with these children were some of her favorite moments in life. Vanessa and Nicholas Juers loved to have their special days with Lynn at parks, zoos, and on bike rides. Felipe and Rafael Mosqueda are the adopted sons of Erika and Dave, and Aria Quiggle is their natural daughter. Lynn was delighted by the addition of grandson Austin by marriage, and Lynn looked forward to the birth of baby Mikayla Lynette Juers in June. Lynn was also very close to three dear nieces, Trisha Bunten (Duluth), Tracy Gantner (Duluth), and Melissa Teske (Wausau). During her last years, Lynn assembled several scrapbooks to record the weddings of her children and the growth of her grandchildren, and continued to work on these to her last days at Hospice House.

To all her family and friends, Lynn was a very giving and loving person. Her closest friends shared her passion for providing medical care to the community. The family wants to especially thank Pamela Reynolds, Betty Roloff, Luci Krueger, Linda Cerney, and Ceda Roesler for all the care and companionship they provided to Lynn.

The family also wants to thank most gratefully the exemplary care that Lynn received over the past several years: Dr. Hamied Rezazadeh (Oncologist), Dr. Darryl Barton (Radiologist), Dr. Charles Alden (Surgeon), Dr. John Hugus (Spine Surgeon), Dr. Matthew Clark (Internal Medicine), and all their staff personnel. Lynn had two spine surgeries in 2005, and seven extended hospital stays for care and recovery. For this care, she is most grateful to the nurses and aides on the Surgical/Oncological Unit and for those who provided Hospice care and comfort in her final weeks.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2006 at the Peterson/Kramer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. The Rev. Stephen Russell, Chaplain Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, will officiate.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 12 and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 13 all at the Stewart Avenue funeral home. A lunch will follow at the Rose Garden. Michelle R. Albrecht, age 58, of Abbotsford, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 25, 2023, at her home under the tender care of Hope Hospice.

Michelle was born on March 29, 1965, the daughter of Earl and Marciel (Carpenter) Timm in La Porte, IN. She graduated from high school and received an Associate degree as a Medical Assistant. Michelle worked at Curtiss Metal, owned a bar, waitressed, worked at Phillips Plastic, Weathershield and Nestle and as the Office Coordinator at the Abby Crossings Chamber of Commerce.

Michelle was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Curtiss and a member of the Curtiss Lions Club. She enjoyed riding motorcycle and loved animals. Most especially, she loved and cherished her family and friends.

Michelle is survived by her significant other, Robert Moser; her two sons: Dustin (Leslie) Blume of Abbotsford and Jesse Albrecht Sr. of Abbotsford; four grandchildren: Conner, Aaliyah, Jesse Jr. and Roman. She is further survived by her four siblings: Earl Timm, Gina Timm (Steve Tyznik), Steve Timm and Jodi (John) Knorr; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Curtiss. The Rev. Ken Schmidt will officiate. Paul Carl Albrecht, age 55, of Neillsville, Route 2, died at the Veterans Hospital at Ft. Snelling, Minneapolis, Minn., on September 1. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday from the Georgas Funeral Home at two o’clock. Interment was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery with the Rev. William Koehler officiating.

Mr. Albrecht was born on March 5, 1896, at Green Lake County, Wis. He came with his family to Clark County in 1905 and they located in the Town of Hewett. He worked on the home farm until he entered military service in 1918. After the war he returned to farming.

On Dec. 21, 1925, he was married to Martha Lenz at Neillsville. Mr. Albrecht served as treasurer of the Town of Hewett for several years. He was a member of the Haugen-Richmond Post No. 73 of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Louis, age 5; his mother, Mrs. Emma Albrecht; one brother, Richard Albrecht; and one niece and seven nephews.

His sister Mrs. Henry Collins preceded him in death on Aug. 27, 1950, and his father died in 1940.

Robert “Bob” E. Albrecht, 87, Marshfield, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Marshfield Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born on December 19, 1934, in Black Duck, Minnesota to Emroy and Hilda (Lichte) Albrecht. He graduated from Granton High School and attended UW-Platteville. He then served in the United States Army. On January 25, 1958, he was united in marriage to Blanche Rice.

Bob worked as a salesman for Montgomery Ward. He then owned and operated the Busy B Bar in Auburndale with Blanche from 1976 to 1980. Later, he worked at Weyerhaeuser until his retirement in 2001.

Bob was an avid Wisconsin Badgers supporter and a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. One of his best days was watching the Cubs win the World Series in 2016. He also enjoyed spending time with his casino family on his monthly Darcy’s bus trips.

He is survived by his children, Jim (Becky) Albrecht of Wisconsin Rapids, Jay (Lois) Albrecht of Winter, Jackie (Wayne) Arnold of Wisconsin Rapids, Jean (Ken) Brandt of Couderay, and Jon (Amy) Albrecht of Marshfield; grandchildren, Jim, Sara, Lindsay (Andrew), Cody, Ben (Ashley), Sam (Miranda), Matthew, Scott, Jenna, Michelle (Rob), Paige (Scott), Rachel (Phil), and Morgan; great-grandchildren, Landon, Adrian, Max, Addison, Connor, and a baby boy on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson, Nolan Albrecht, sister, Charlotte Washburn, brother, Richard Albrecht, and special friend, June Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022, at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, where visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time. The service will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes.  Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield and serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jim, Cody, Ben, Sam, Matthew and Scott.

Sharon Ann Albrecht, 66, of Lake Holcombe died Wednesday at her residence.

Funeral services will be at noon Sunday at the Holcombe United Methodist Church in Holcombe. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery in Dorchester, Wis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation. Borton Funeral Home in Cornell is in charge of arrangements.

Albrecht was born on April 10, 1944, in Tipton, Iowa, the daughter of John and Fern (Thumma) Stubbs.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Tiny; her mother, Fern Stubbs of Holcombe; and two brothers, Jim (Mary) Stubbs of McCausland, Iowa, and Bob (Jean) Stubbs of West Branch, Iowa.

Sharon Albrecht, 66, Lake Holcombe, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at her residence.

She was born on April 10, 1941, in Tipton, Iowa to John and Fern (Thomma) Stubbs.

Sharon graduated from high school in West Branch, Iowa and moved to Dorchester in November of 1960. On Oct 16, 1965, she married Don Albrecht in Dorchester, Wis.

While living in Dorchester, she was employed a the Meyer Lumber Company and later, along with her husband, owned and operated Holton Cheese Factory. In 1974, they established Albrecht’s Cheese. Sharon and Don operated the store until retiring in 2000.

Sharon continued to work part time for the Rural Insurance Company in Holcombe. She was a member of the Holcombe United Methodist Church and the church choir.

She is survived by her husband, Don; her mother Fern Stubbs, Holcombe; two brothers, Jim (Mary) Stubbs, McCausland, IA, and Bob (Jean) Stubbs, West Branch, IA.

She was preceded in death by her father; and an infant son.

Funeral services were held Nov. 24 at the Holcombe United Methodist Church in Holcombe with Rev. Cheri Miskimen presiding. Burial was in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery in Dorchester, Wis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation.

Thomas Michael Albrecht Sr., 67, Athens, died on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born December 16, 1945 in Athens, son of the late Frank and Katherine (Gebhardt) Albrecht. On November 4, 1967, he married Donna Kulas in Athens. She survives.

Tom graduated from the Athens High School in 1963, and went on to serve his country in the National Guard from 1965 to 1971. He was co-owner and operator of the Farmers Mill of Athens, Merrill, Tomahawk and Medford. Most recently, he was employed with Marathon Feed and Grain. Tom was very proud to have worked in the agricultural industry for 50 years.

Among his favorite pastimes, he loved woodworking, gardening, fishing and life on his homestead known as "Ha-Bie Achers" farm.

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Donna Albrecht, Athens; four children, Tom (Tracy Weiler) Albrecht Jr., Athens, Julie (Dave) Rock, Eagle River, Scott (Tracy Losiewicz) Albrecht, Merrill and Vicki (Adam) Halopka, Athens; eight grandchildren, Dan Finke, Eagle River, Brett, Kevin and Jonathan Albrecht, Ty, Mason and Tori Halopka, all of Athens and Vaughn Albrecht, Merrill; eight siblings, Bette (the late Bill) McConnell, Phoenix, AZ, Mary Ann (the late Merf) Lawrence, Doyle, CA, Carmella (the late Harold) Mallak, Wausau, Jeanne (Ron) Geissler, Minnetonka, MN, Frank (Carrie) Albrecht, Juneau, Gerald (Sharon) Albrecht, Wausau, Patrick (Diane) Albrecht and Robert (Mary) Albrecht, both of Athens; his father and mother-in-law; Dave and Elvera Kulas, Athens; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Adrian Albrecht.

Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o’clock for William J. Albrecht, 88, Rt. 1 Granton, who died Monday at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Emroy Albrecht. The Rev. Evan Dieck will officiate at services from the Zion American Lutheran Church, town of Grant. Burial will be made in the Lynn Cemetery.

Mr. Albrecht was born November 9, 1872, in Germany, and came to America with his parents the following year. The family settled in the Town of Fremont. 

He was married September 20, 1897, to the former Emma Neinas, who preceded him in death. Following their marriage they moved onto a farm in the Town of Lynn, which has been his home for the last 63 years.  During his lifetime he served on the town board and school board.

Surviving are two sons, Emroy of the Town of Lynn, and Edgar of Chicago; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rudolph Sternitzky, Fred Zuelke, Raymond Payne, Walter Roehl, Ray Keuer and Louis Grade.

Albright, Addie R. (11 May 1859 - 22 Augl 1927)

Addie Rena Allen was born in Camptown, Bradford County, Penn., May 11th 1859. Feb. 3, 1884 she was united in marriage with Geo. M. Albright and was his faithful helpmate until the time of her death.

Three children were born to this union all of whom are living.

She came to Wisconsin with her husband and family in 1886 and settled in Spokeville, Clark Co. where she lived until six years ago, when she with her husband moved to Fort Bragg, California. In June of this year she came back to Wisconsin to visit her daughter, Mrs. H. L. White, other relatives and many friends. The later part of July she was taken sick and was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield where she passed away August 22nd at the age of 68 years, 3 months, 11 days. Death being caused from cancer of the lungs.

Besides a husband she leaves to mourn her death four children: A. J. Albright, Fort Bragg, Calif; Leona E. Albright, San Jose, Calif; and Mrs. H. L. White, Loyal Wis. Four grandchildren: Arlene, Eunita, Elma and George White and one brother, W. R. Allen of Highland, Calif. also survive.

The funeral took place last Friday afternoon, August 26th from the M. E. Church, Rev. James officiating. Interment was made at Loyal cemetery under the Auspices of the Eastern Star and Royal Neighbor Lodges.

Albright, Amalie (1882 - 1932)

OBITUARY OF MRS. GEO. ALBRIGHT

Amalie Palzer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Palzer, was born at Wausau, Wis., May 26, 1882. She attended schools in Wausau and Milwaukee. Later the family moved to Two Rivers, where she was united in marriage to George H. Albright, Sept. 13, 1904.

In 1919 they moved to Greenwood, Clark County and lived on a farm with her mother and brother. Nine children were born to them, two dying in infancy. Her husband and the following children survive her, Norbert at home Leo, Milwuakee Johan and Rose at home Claude, Geneva, Ill. and Anna and Helen at home.

She also leaves her mother, Mrs. Chas. Palzer of Loyal, who is 75 years old, her sister, Mrs. Stryker Flagg of the Town of Eaton, her brother, Leo Palzer of Loyal and Michael Silbertsack of Milwaukee, an orphan boy who made his home with the Albright family for four years.

Mrs. Albright had been ill with yellow jaundice since February and died at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, April 17, 1932.

Funeral services were held from St. Mary's Catholic Church Thursday morning, Rev. Wm. Daniels officiated. The body was laid to rest in the parish cemetery.

An unusually large number of friends and neighbors attended the funeral and paid their last respect to one who was well liked by all who knew her.

Word was received from Mrs. Maud Huntzicker of the passing of her sister, Mrs. Elmer (Edyth) Albright, at a hospital at Alton, Ill., on Saturday, April 19, 1957.

Edyth Miller, daughter of Mrs. Edna Miller, Oshkosh, was born in January 1905. She received part of her education at Eaton Center School, and the sixth grade in Greenwood Public School (Clark Co., Wis.), before the family moved away.

Mrs. Albright, who spent the winter in Albuquerque, N.M. for her health, was called to Alton, Ill., here home, by the illness of her husband, who suffered a stroke on Sunday, April 7th. Mrs. Albright flew home from New Mexico and only visited her husband one day before she was stricken and also became a patient at the hospital.

Funeral services were held at Berlin, Wis. and burial was made there.

Mrs. Albright is survived by her husband, two daughters, Sue and Sally, Alton, Ill.; her mother, Mrs. Edna Miller, Oshkosh; four sisters, Mrs. Maud Huntzicker, Greenwood, at present visiting her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Snyder, at 3708 Inglewood Blvd., Apt. 7, Mar Vista, Calif.; Mrs. Edwin (Ruth) Ketelle, and Mrs. Glen (Judy) Messing, Lindsey; Mrs. Forest (Grace) Reid, Omro; two brothers, Dan Miller, Mt. Vernon, N.Y., and David Miller, Edwardsville, Ill. 

Albright, Marshall C. (28 Feb 1890 - 13 Feb 1919)

Marshall Clarence Albright, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Albright, died at the home of his parents at five o'clock yesterday afternoon from complications of the influenza. The funeral will be held from the family home at 1:30 Saturday afternoon.

Albright was employed in the Ames Shipyard at Seattle and became afflicted with a mild case of the influenza about a week ago. He decided to return home for a time, but did not consider himself ill enough to go to bed. Several days ago his condition became worse and pneumonia developed, with other complications which physicians say were undoubtedly due to the influenza, and the end came yesterday morning.

Marshall Albright was born at Humbird, Clark County, Wis., Feb. 28, 1890, twenty-nine years ago. In 1912, the family removed to this county, first making their home at Quilcene. Marshall Albright became an employee of the Green Shingle Mill, remaining with that concern for three years. He was interested in poultry and left the mill to take charge of a poultry ranch in Snohomish Co. A year ago, attracted by the excellent wages paid in the shipyards, he entered the Ames plant. For months past he was in charge of a drilling and reaming machine and was very well satisfied with the opportunity which had been presented him in the industry. He was an unusually amiable and likable young fellow and his good qualities won him a host of friends wherever he made his home. Although not making his home in this city, he had visited his parents here many times after their removal from Quilcene, and was well known to local people. All his friends were inexpressibly shocked when the news of his death became known, as it was not generally known that his illness was considered serious. He was unmarried. In addition to his parents he is survived by three brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Harrie Albright, 84, Neillsville, died March 6, at the Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient the past few months.  
 

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Bergemann Funeral Home. The Rev. Frank B. Harcey, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiated.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
 

Mrs. Albright the former Sarah Beaulieu, was born December 26, 1874, in Neillsville.  She was married to Harrie Albright on June 12, 1891, here and resided in the city most of her life. They operated a grocery store for many years, and later Mr. Albright served as city treasurer for several years.  She was a member of the Congregational Church, the Women’s Relief Corps, and served as recording secretary of the Royal Neighbors, Golden Link Camp, No. 78, for many years.
 

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Karl (Oral) Schenk of Stevens Point; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Beaulieu of Superior.
 

Pallbearers were: W. F. Dahnert, George Hubing, A. J. Kleckner, John Perkins, R. F. Wagner and Joseph Zimmerman.
 

Two hymns, "Still, Still with Thee" and "Abide with me," were sung by Mrs. Robert D. Peters, accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.  The Royal neighbors and women’s Relief Corps attended services in a group.
 

People from out of town attending included: Mr. and Mrs. Karl Schenk, Meta Schenk, Elsie Schenk and Emma Bronson, all of Stevens Point.

Albert W. “Shorty” Aldach, 90, of Blair, formerly of Black River Falls and Taylor, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, in the Pigeon Falls Health Care Center in Pigeon Falls surrounded by his family in love and prayer.

Albert was born April 19, 1919, in rural Taylor to Herman and Nellie (Pior) Aldach.  He grew up on the family farm in the Pine Creek area.  Some of his fondest memories were working for farmers in Owatonna, MN.  He returned to the family farm when his father passed away to assist his mother.

Albert was a devout Catholic, a loving, caring husband and father and known for his sense of humor. Shorty enjoyed dancing, reading, traveling, fishing and hunting.  He farmed, did road construction, worked in the woods and was employed by the Jackson Box Factory, worked at the Pigeon Falls Creamery, Bangor Creamery as well as the South Alma Cheese Factory.  He was also known for painting and whitewashing barns.

Shorty married Mildred Burnett May 7, 1946, in Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Black River Falls.

Albert is survived by his wife, Mildred; 11 children: Ellen (Douglas) Hurlburt of Black River Falls, David Aldach of Merrillan, Barbara (William) Rogstad of Taylor, Katherine (Randy) Sterner of Hudson, Nancy (Dennis) Duggan of Columbia City, IN, Peter (Rita) Aldach of Modesto, CA, Susette (Lonnie Stenulson of Taylor, Connie (Kenneth) Johnson of Hixton, Michael Aldach of Whitehall, Steven (Diane) Aldach of Humbird and Sherrie (Roger) Oelrich of Whitehall; 39 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Shorty was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Ann; a son, Charles; six grandchildren; a sister, Mary Aldach; and a half sister, Selma Upham.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Ansgar’s Catholic Church in Blair with Father Nathan officiating.  Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in rural Taylor.

Visitation was held Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Saint Ansgar’s Catholic Church in Blair, where a rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m.  Friends also called one hour prior to the service Saturday.

The Jack Funeral Home in Blair assisted the family with arrangements.

Alderman, Albert (1845 - 18 FEB 1904)

Albert Alderman died at the soldier’s home at Waupaca on Feb. 18, 1904, of heart disease, aged 58 years and about 7 months. He served in the war for the Union from 1861 to the end of the war in an Ohio regiment, and was in many battles, in one of which he was so terribly hurt that rebels who found him would not take him prisoner, and he was left to shift for himself without food or care until he got out of his dilemma. He lived at Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.) fro ’66 to ’98, when he moved here (Neillsville, Clark Co.). He was postmaster of Humbird for a number of years. He is survived by the wife, a daughter, Mrs. O. D. Sires, and a son, A. L. Alderman. He was the soul of honor and kindness, and will long be missed. The burial was at Humbird.

Word was received the fore part of the week, by W. E. Waters, of the death of Mrs. A. L. Alderman, at Kleskun Hill, Alberta, Canada. The Northern Tribune, of Grande Prairie, Alberta, Chronicles her passing away:

"The residents of the East End and Grande Prairie were shocked to learn the death of Mrs. A. L. Alderman of Kleskun Hill, who passed away at her home at noon on Monday, June 3, after a month illness.

Mrs. Alderman, whose maiden name was Nellie Clarice Arnold, was born at Burlington, Wisconsin, Oct. 1, 1883. She came to Calgary in 1912, where she and Mr. Alderman were married. In a year’s time the Aldermans went to Red Deer, where they spent a short time, coming to the Peace River over the Edson Trail in 1914 and settled in the Kleskun Hill District.

Hospitable and charitable to a fault, Mrs. Alderman will be truly missed by her wide circle of friends, who were always welcome at her home.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, at Forbes Presbyterian church, Grande Prairie, the minister, Rev. C. E. Fisher, officiating."

Mrs. Amelia Aldinger, age 39, passed away at her home early Tuesday morning after a several month illness.

Her husband, Henry Aldinger, was killed in an aeroplane accident July 1, a year ago. She leaves to mourn, her aged parents, with whom she lived, and a daughter and son, age 10 and 8 years, two sisters, Mrs. Edwards of Curtiss and Mrs. Lena Kisten of Kenosha.

The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon from the German Lutheran Church, of which she was a member. Rev. Goetsch, pastor of the church, will officiating. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery.

She was a cheerful, pleasant and good mother, and will be missed by a host of friends.

Curtiss, July 17 – Funeral services were to be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the local Lutheran church for Mrs. Amelia Aldinger, 34, who died Tuesday morning at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schoeneman, following an illness of several months, due to heart trouble. The Rev. M. C. Goetsch of the Green Grove congregation was to officiate.

Mrs. Aldinger, who spent practically her whole life in this community, was a member of a pioneer family, and was married about 12 years ago to Henry Aldinger, local garage man, who was killed last summer in an airplane accident.

Besides her parents, she is survived by two children, Marie, 10, and Reuben, 7, and two sisters, Mrs. Lena Kesten, Kenosha, and Mrs. E. A. (Ida) Edwards, Curtiss.

Henry Aldinger of Curtiss, Clark County, Wis., was instantly killed last Sunday noon, when the airplane in which he took a ride, crashed to the ground and hit a stump in the Fred Neitsch field near Curtiss. Alphonse Herrmann, twenty-three year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Herrmann, who was also a passenger, suffered three broken ribs and a dislocated ankle. The pilot of Greenwood, Clark County, a brother of Mrs. Thieme of Curtiss, escaped with light bruises. The pilot had been taking up passengers from the Olson field at Curtiss. The Colby Medical Association was called for assistance and Dr. H. H. Christofferson autoed out to the scene of the accident and brought Alphonse Herrmann to the Colby Clinic, where an X-ray was taken and his injuries taken care of in a fine manner.

At the time of the accident, the pilot was "banking", turning on one side, and when he attempted to right his plane, couldn't for he struck an air pocket and the plane crashed to the ground and hit a stump with the disastrous result. The place was also smashed to pieces.

Aldinger had attended the jubilee celebration services at Green Grove in the morning and rushed home to get dinner and take an airplane ride so that he could return to Green Grove and attend the afternoon services.

Arrangements for funeral services were made for Wednesday afternoon, July 3rd, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Curtiss, Rev. M. C. Goetsch officiating, and interment in the Curtiss Cemetery (Pine Hill?)

The deceased, who with his brother-in-law, Wm. Hennlich, conducted the Aldinger and Hennlich garage at Curtiss, was a very congenial and likeable young man and his sudden death has brought the bitter cup of sorrow to the lips of many friends and relatives. He was a good church member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Curtiss, and just recently, on June 25th, celebrated his 10th wedding anniversary. He served on the front in the World War and was a member of the American Legion. Besides his broken hearted wife, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Schoemann, he also leaves two small children to mourn his departure to the Great Beyond.

The pilot, D. K. Schwarze of Greenwood, and Alphonse Herrmann, were co-owners of the plane and pilot Schwarze recently completed a course in flying at a St. Louis airport and returned north about two months ago with the plane in which he crashed. He had a narrow escape six weeks ago when he went through two fences in attempting a take-off near Thorp. Schwarze has visited the local airport on several occasion.

Family Note: Durward K. Schwarze, son of Adolph & Anna (Koehler) Schwarze, was my first cousin, once removed. I believe this article is in error when it notes that his sister was "Mrs. Thieme". My records show he was an only child, but this could have been his cousin, the daughter of Albert & Agnes (Norris) Schwarze. At the time of this accident, Durward was just 19 years old. He and his wife, Alvera L. Dahlby, who was a pharmacist, owned the Drug Store in Granton for many years. He died in 1993.

CURTISS MAN KILLED IN PLANE ACCIDENT 

PLANE PILOTED BY GREENWOOD MAN AND CARRIED TWO PASSENGERS

Henry Aldinger, Curtiss, is dead as the result of a plane crash which occurred on Sunday afternoon at that place while he was a passenger in a plane carrying passengers.

The cause of the accident was due to the plane going into an air pocket, and the pilot not being able to bring the machine into control.

Aldinger it is said was killed instantly, as his chest was crushed, several ribs broken, as well as his arm and leg. He was accompanied on the flight by the pilot, and Alphonse Herman, co-owner of the ship. Herman, was badly cut and bruised and was immediately rushed to the Colby clinic where he was given medical aid. The pilot escaped with minor injuries and remained at the plane following the accident.

The plane was piloted by D. K. Schwartze, Greenwood, a young man who had recently returned from a flying school at St. Louis. He came to Curtiss early in the morning and was making flights carrying passengers. He had made several trips in the afternoon, and Aldinger, feeling the desire for a ride, entered the plane. After the ship had raised about 800 feet from the ground it struck an air pocket, and then made a nose dive, coming down and striking a large stump in a field nearby from where it had taken off.

There was a large crowd present watching the plane as it was making flights, and among the spectators were Mrs. Aldinger and her two children, a daughter 8 years old and a son 5 years of age. The plane was a complete wreck. The body of Aldinger was brought to Owen following the accident where it was prepared for burial at the undertaking parlors of Griebenow - Weirich Co.

Henry Aldinger was one of the leading business men of the village of Curtiss, having been owner of the garage of that place for the past several years. He was married June 25, 1919, and is survived by his wife and two children.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) from the German Reform church at Curtiss, Rev. Goetz of Colby, officiating and burial took place in the Curtiss cemetery.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday for Mrs. Pearl Aldinger, 57, of Humbird, who died October 1 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital.
 

Services were held from the Merrillan Methodist Church with the Rev. W. L. Grover officiating.  Interment was in the Merrillan Cemetery.
 

Mrs. Aldinger was born December 23, 1898 at Merrillan, to Elmus and Melissa (Abbott) Rush.  Her marriage to Edwin Aldinger took place November 16, 1921, at Merrillan.  Her entire life was spent in the Merrillan-Humbird vicinity.
 

She is survived by her husband and the following children: Mrs. William (Emma) Arndt, Neillsville; Harold of Fond du Lac; Eileen at home; Mrs. Ed (Iva) Kubaski, Humbird; Mrs. Earl (Marlene) Dayton of Chili; four sisters: Mrs. August Luepka and Mrs. Arthur Buttke of Alma Center; Mrs. Clarence Gaede, Merrillan and Mrs. Robert Hagerman of Pasadena, Texas; three brothers - Sam Rush of Merrillan and Ernest and Roy Rush of Black River Falls.  Other survivors are her mother, Mrs. Elmus Rush and seven grandchildren.
 

The body, in charge of the Georgas Funeral Home was taken Tuesday noon to the Merrillan church where it reposed until time of services.

Mrs. Milton Alexander, formerly a resident of this part of Wisconsin, died at her home in Jacksonville, Florida, April 5, 1937, after long years of invalidism.

Funeral services were held at the Main Street Baptist Church in Jacksonville, April 9, the pastor, Rev. H. Hansen, officiating.

The body accompanied by Mr. Alexander was brought back for burial here, brief services being held Monday afternoon, April 12, at Schiller’s Funeral Home and at the grave in the Neillsville cemetery, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating.

Allie Bullis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Bullis, was born at Augusta, Wisconsin, April 22, 1879. She spent her early years there, at Merrillan and Eau Claire, finishing her school education in the latter city.

In January 1909, she was united in marriage at Eau Claire, with Milton Alexander of Chicago, formerly of Neillsville, Wis. They began housekeeping in Chicago, later moving to Omaha, and in 1918 moving to Jacksonville, Florida, where they continued to make their home.

In October, 1914, after a period of ill health, she became confined to her bed, and has not been able to walk since that date. For a time Mr. Alexander’s sister, Miss Jennie Alexander assisted in caring for her, but she also became an invalid; Mr. Milton’s mother, now aged 89, has also been a member of the family for several years, and for some time was confined to bed by an accident. For a number of years past, Mrs. Kate Stockwell a sister of Mr. Alexander has been in charge of the home and helped him care for his invalid wife and the others of the household.

During these years the keenest sympathy has been felt for the members of this home by their old friends here, and with it a fine admiration for the patience and fortitude all have shown.

Beside the husband and his relatives, deceased leaves one sister, Mrs. J. J. Smiley of San Diego, California.

The former Birdene Ball was born October 24, 1882, in Bloomington and was married there on December 21, 1901, to Ernest Alexander, who died on April 1, 1956. She had lived on a farm in the town of Green Grove, near Owen, since 1923.

She is survived by five sons, Floyd, Richland Center; Cecil, Roscoe and Walter, Owen, and Delos, Unity; two daughters, Mrs. Art (Leora) Lange, Waterford, and Mrs. Jay (Ester) Mellin, Wauzeka; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Ward, Patch Grove; and a brother Clarence Ball, Bloomington.

The Rev. DuWayne Schneider will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

He was born May 1, 1923, in the town of Green Grove, Clark County, to Ernest and Birdenna (Ball) Alexander. He attended Elmwood School, town of Green Grove. He married Ardina Knecht Nov. 23, 1946, in the town of Green Grove.

He farmed in the town of Green Grove until his marriage. He and his wife then moved to the town of Beaver and farmed there until retirement. They moved to Spencer in 1990. He had been in ill health for the last two years.

He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and held various offices at the church.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Leonard "Lennie" of Reedsburg; two daughters, Emily Molle of Unity and Debbie Alexander of Spencer; two brothers, Roscoe of Whitewater and Walter of Loyal; two sisters, Leora Lange of Milwaukee and Esther Millen of Fennimore; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by his parents and three brothers.

He was the son of Charles and (Mary Ann Abrams) Alexander. On December 31, 1901, he was married to Birdenna Ball at the home of her parents. They farmed in the area of Patch Grove, Mt. Hope, and Bloomington until they moved to the vicinity of Owen in 1923 and continued farming until his death.

Surviving besides his wife are fives sons: Floyd, Richland Center; Cecil, Roscoe and Walter, Owen; Delos, Unity; two daughters, Leora, Mrs. Arthur Lange; Milwaukee; Esther, Mrs. Jay Millin, Fennimore; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Auld, Bloomington; and Mattie, Mrs. Jess Crawford, Withee. Jacob Alexander, a former resident of this community, who made his home the past five years, with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Petrie of Marshfield, Wisconsin, died in that city November 14, 1950, after being ill several years following a stroke. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, Nov. 18th, at the First Ev. and Reformed church in Colby, Wis., Rev. Franz Paul Puhlmann officiating. Mrs. Margaret W. Puhlmann sang two vocal selections, "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me." Pall bearers were Paul Draeger, Sr., Albert Dins, O. H. Davis, Paul Schmidt, John Petrie and M. O. Johnson. Burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

Mr. Alexander was born on January 13, 1877, thus reaching the age of 73 years, 10 months and one day, in Burgdorf, Russia, where he married Katherine Huber on June 12, 1897. They came to this locality in 1930.

Surviving are nine children - John and Fred Alexander of Shafer, Calif., Christian Alexander of Freeman, S. Dak., Mrs. Lydia Schnabel of Unity, Mrs. Magdalena Schnabel of Oregon, Wis., Mrs. Paulina Braun of Hartford, Mrs. Adeline Petrie of Marshfield, Mrs. Edith Schnabel of Brooklyn, Mrs. Vera Hein of Sheboygan. There are 25 grand children and two great grand children.

Jennifer L. Alexander, 24, Shoreview, passes away suddenly on Saturday, July 14, 2007. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, July 18, at 10 a.m., at St. Odilia Catholic Church, Shoreview.

Jennifer L. Alexander was born May 6, 1983, to Harry and Diane Alexander. She graduated from Totino-Grace High School in 2001 and UW-Eau Claire in 2006. She was a beloved daughter, sister, and fiancé.

Survivors include her parents, Harry and Diane; her brother, Mathew (Angela) and their son, Luca; her sister, Melissa; her fiancé, Curtiss Mayenschein; her grandparents, Clara Alexander, Richard and Theresa Cisewski; numerous aunts and uncles, and other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death was her grandfather, Art Alexander.

John (Jack) W. Alexander, age 84, of Medford passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019, at Deerview Meadows Assisted Living in Medford.

John was born in Glidden on Feb. 22, 1935, to Peter and Ella (Schraufnagel) Alexander. The family moved to Abbotsford in 1937. He attended Abbotsford grade and high schools. He attended UW-Eau Claire for two years and then entered the U.S. Army in 1955. He spent three years in the Army Special Forces. He returned to UW-Eau Claire and graduated in May 1960. He married Gertrude (Trudy) Meinke on July 25, 1959. John taught high school in Elmwood and at Medford Senior High. He was head baseball coach at Medford for many years. After teaching, he ran the Tastee-Treat and Countryside Restaurant.

He also was a credit manager for Stetsonville Oil Company, retiring in 2018. John loved baseball and spent the last years following his grandson’s ball games – attending almost every game they played. He was a member of the Stetsonville American Legion.

John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Trudy; four children: Sue (Richard) Dashek of Medford, Mark (Tracie) of Kronenwetter, Daniel of Medford, and Kurt (Kathy) of Medford; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Jean Weix and Alice Beck.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Whittlesey. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gary Ludholz presiding. Burial will be at a later date in Medford Evergreen II Cemetery.

LEUKEMIA FATAL TO LOYAL GIRL, 9

Services Monday for Marcella Alaxander

Loyal - Marcella Elaine Alexander, nine year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Alexander, route 1, Owen, died Friday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she had been a patient for four weeks. A victim of leukemia, she has been ill for a month prior to hospitalization.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the North Green Grove Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Martin Krause officiating. Burial will be in the South Green Grove Lutheran Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Myre Funeral homer here beginning this evening.

Marcella, who was born April 6, 1947, was a fourth grade pupil at the Elmwood School in the town of Green Grove. She is survived b y her parents, two sisters and two brothers; Marie Ellen, Marlene Elizabeth, Dale Alvin and David Allen, all at home; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brecker, Loyal; and the parternal grandmother, Mrs. Bird Alexander, Owen, Wis.

Marcella Elaine Alexander, 9, of Route 1, Owen, died in St. Joseph’s Hospital Marshfield, at 10:20 a.m. Friday November 30, 1956.
 

Death was the result of Leukemia from which she had been long ill.  She was born in St. Joseph’s Hospital April 6, 1947.  Marcella was a pupil in the fourth grade of Elmwood Graded School, Town of Green Grove.

Marcella Elaine Alexander, nine-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Alexander, route 1, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) died Friday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she had been a patient for four weeks.  A victim of leukemia, she has been ill for a month prior to hospitalization.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the North Green Grove Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Martin Krause officiating.  Burial was made in the South Green Grove Cemetery.

Marcella, who was born April 6, 1947, was a fourth grade pupil at the Elmwood School.  She is survived by her parents, two sisters and two brothers, Marie Ellen, Marlene Elizabeth, Dale Alvin and David Allen, all at home; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brecker, Loyal; and the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Bird Alexander, Owen.

Marcella Elaine Alexander, 9, of route one, Owen, died in St. Joseph’s Hospital 10:20 a.m., November 30.

Death was the result of leukemia from which she had been ill for four weeks before being taken to the hospital a month ago.

She was born in St. Joseph’s Hospital, April 6, 1947. Marcella was a pupil in the fourth grade of Elmwood Graded School, town of Green Grove.

The body lay in state at the Myre Funeral Home, Loyal, from Saturday evening until taken to the North Green Grove Lutheran Church on Monday where funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. by Martin Krause. Burial was in the South Green Grove Lutheran cemetery.

She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Alexander of Owen; two sisters, Marie Ellen and Marlene Elizabeth. And two brothers, Dale and David, all at home; by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Franl Brecker, Loyal, and her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Bird Alexander, Owen.

Active pallbearers were Dan Elison, Elmer Schuette, Harley Witt and Harley Hardrath. Honorary pallbearers were William Schuette, Dennis Witt, Jackie Molle, Arthur Raeck, Delmaine Schindler and Douglas Hardrath. Sally Hardrath, Alice Albert, Kathleen Anklam, and Shirley Molle were flower girls.

The honorary pallbearers and flower girls were schoolmates of Marcella. Mrs. Martin Krause was organist and she, accompanied by Mrs. Vernon Boss, sang, "I Fall Asleep in Jesus," and "Tender Shepherds."

Mrs. Thomas Alexander (Ada Hemphill) passed away Monday morning at her home in Jacksonville, Florida according to a message received here by Mrs. W. L. Hemphill.

The Alexander family formerly lived in Neillsville, Wis. The remains will be brought to this city for burial in the family lot, services to be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. G. W. Longenecker.

Mrs. C. S. Stockwell, the last surviving member of the Alexander family, will accompany the body to Neillsville, Wis.

This is the fourth death in the family within about five years. The wife of late Milton Alexander’s death occurred in September, 1940, and Milton Alexander passed away the fore part of December, 1941.

Owen - Roscoe F. Alexander, 78, Whitewater, formerly of Green Grove, died Monday at Fairhaven Residential Facility, Whitewater.

Memorials services will be June 6 at 2:30 p.m. at United Church of Christ, Owen.

Olsen Funeral Home, Whitewater, is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born May 26, 1913, in Mount Hope, to Ernest and Birdina (Ball) Alexander. He married Inez Hardrath April 28, 1937, in Greenwood.

He farmed in Green Grove until 1963 and was employed as a caretaker/gardener in Lake Forest, Ill., until 1975. He moved to the Whitewater area in 1979.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Gordon of Roscoe, Ill., and Rodney of Whitewater; one daughter, Mrs. Roger (Karen) Hatfield of Marinette; one brother, Walter of Loyal; two sisters, Leora Lange of Milwaukee and Esther Millen of Fennimore; and seven grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, one son, Caryle, and three brothers.

Memorials to Fairhaven Activities Department of Whitewater Rescue Squad would be appreciated.

The remains of Mrs. John (Agnieszka) Alfuth, whose death took place on Tuesday of last week in North Dakota, arrived here on Thursday, the funeral taking place on Friday from St. Hedwig's Church, Father Pudlo officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Alfuth were employed on a farm, and on Saturday morning Dec. 4th, both arose as usual, Mr. Alfuth going to the barn to do his chores while Mrs. Alfuth proceeded to build a fire in the stove, using kerosene, a blaze from which ignited her clothing and as a result died three days later. Mrs. Alfuth was but eighteen years od age, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Dranginis of the town of Reseburg, Clark County, Wis. The couple had been married here less than a year ago. The dwelling in which the accident occurred was destroyed with all its contents.

Betty J. Alger, age 80, of Thorp, WI, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019, at Clark County Rehab & Living Center in Owen, WI. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2019, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Thorp. Rev. Daniel Vang officiated and burial followed at Sylvan Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Ryan Strzok, Eric Strzok, Jeff Strzok, Lance Haas, Travis Haas, Scott Alger, Eric Alger, and Loren Alger. Visitation was held at the church, on Monday, from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Betty Jean DeSota was born on May 6, 1939, in Unity, WI, the daughter of Ivan and Emma (Evenson) DeSota. She was raised and received her education in Stanley, graduating from Stanley High School in 1957. Betty was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Alger on June 15, 1958 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanley, WI. In 1963, they moved to a farm near Thorp, where they raised their family. In addition to being a farmwife, Betty worked as a waitress at the Thorpedo Restaurant, as a clerk at Pabich's Grocery Store, as a Dietary Aide at the Clark County Health Care Center, and as a clerk at Sweet Memories in Thorp.

She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Betty also enjoyed, gardening, crocheting, working in her flower gardens, bowling, and being a secret Pen Pal at Thorp Elementary School.

Betty was a very active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Red Hat Society, and served on the Town of Reseburg Election Board for many years.

She will be dearly missed by three sons: Keith of Thorp, Brian (Delores) of Greenwood, Chris (Brenda) of Edgar; 4 grandchildren: Nicole Alger of Sparta, Cody (Kristen) Alger of Edgar, Michael Alger of La Crosse, Justin (Kourtney) Alger of Edgar; one great-grandson: Brantley Alger; four brothers: Duane DeSota of Oak Creek, WI, Dale (Carol) DeSota of Niles, IL, Gary DeSota of Oakdale, MN, Ron (Kandi) DeSota of Overland Park, KS; one sister: Irene Anderson of Gurnee, IL; three sisters- in-law: Margaret DeSota of Minneapolis, MN, Sharon DeSota of Milwaukee, WI, and Maryjo DeSota of Blaine, MN; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

George Alger died within a few hours after being taken ill at his home in the town of Worden (Clark Co., Wis.) on Thursday morning last. The cause was internal hemorrhage.

Deceased was born in the Town of Rushford, Winnebago Co., Wis., on Dec. 27, 1872, and had reached the age of 59 years 9 months and 15 days. On Jan. 23, 1891, he was united in marriage to Miss Laura Craig of this village. He had been a resident of Thorp and vicinity for nearly forty-two years, and is survived by his wife, four sons, Earl of Kaukauna; Jay and Sidney of Thorp, and Donald of Ladysmith, and three daughters, Mrs. Eva Asselin, Mrs. Doris Ustruck and Mrs. Hazel Weinberger of Thorp. Two daughters died in infancy.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church at two o’clock on Saturday afternoon last, Rev. James Irish officiating, interment following the services in the village cemetery.

Funeral services for Jay Ralph Alger, 75, of the town of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), were held Tuesday, November 26, 1968, ten a.m. at St. Bernard's Church, with Rev. Francis Brockman officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Harold Mattes, Art Stewart, Ed Schmidt, Loren Bivens, Vic Verner, and Frank Swienton.

Mr. Alger was born February 16, 1893 in the town of Thorp. His early years were spent in logging camps and on road construction. He farmed in the town of Thorp part time most of his married life. He was employed for Blue Moon Foods for 17 years before his retirement. He married Mamie H. Vanderhyden on May 25, 1915 at St. Bernard's Church.

He is survived by three sons, Cyril, Edmund and Gilbert Alger, all of Thorp; three daughters, (Genevieve) Mrs. John Schmidt of Lodi, (Mildred) Mrs. Joseph Schmidt of St. Paul, Minn., and (Annabelle) Mrs. Dale Anderson of Stanley; three brothers, Earl of Hilbert, Sydney Sr. of Thorp, Donald of Ladysmith; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Weinberger and (Eva) Mrs. Layton Asselin, both of Thorp, and Mrs. Doris Ustruck of Milwaukee; twenty-nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Died, at his home in this village (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.), on Friday, Sept. 26, 1890, John Alger, of heart failure, aged 51 years, 9 months and 19 days.

John Alger was born near Dunfrees, Canada West, and came alone to this country when twelve years of age and was not heard of for eighteen eyars, passing most of his time on the lakes and was on his way to Milwaukee to ship again when a stranger accosted him on the ears and insisted that he knew him; but it was a case of mistaken identity as he was taken for his brother, and through this stranger learned that he was only 16 miles from his beloved Christian mother and three brothers, who lived near Omro, Wis., whither he went at once. Feb. 7, 1866, he was married to Miss Arcelia Huffman at Wexford, Winnebago Co., Wis. Three years ago he came to this village with his family. During his residence here he made many friends who deeply regret his death, which occurred quite suddenly. His funeral occurred on Sunday last, Rev. J. E. Webster officiating, and was largely attended. He leaves his faithful wife, son George, and daughter, Mrs. Eliza Elmendorf. His three brothers, Nelson, Joseph and Wesley, who live near Omro, were present at the funeral, also a sister, Mrs. Eliza Wilbur, of Omro; also a brother-in-law, Eugene Hoffman, and wife, of Meadow Valley, Wis.

Linda Carol Schultz was born Oct. 14, 1946, in Rockford, Ill., to Anthony F. and Linda (Mullenbach) Schultz. She was united in marriage to Larry G. Alger on May 12, 1975, in Eau Claire. The couple lived in Eau Claire, where Linda worked for Wipfli-Ullrich-Bertelson LLP as a data entry clerk in the accounting department.

She is survived by her husband, Larry, of Eau Claire; two sons, Todd and Jay, both of Eau Claire; one sister, Toni Ann (Larry) Luzinski of Thorp; her mother-in-law, Wilma Alger of Thorp; brother-in-law, Allen (Joyce) Alger of Thorp; nieces and nephews.

Linda Carol Schultz was born on October 14, 1946, in Rockford, IL, to Anthony F. and Linda (Mullenbach) Schultz. As a young girl, Linda and her family moved to Thorp, where she received her education, graduating from Thorp High School in 1964. After graduation, she worked at the Thorp Finance Corporation and waitressed at the Silver Dollar Restaurant. She was united in marriage to Larry G. Alger on May 12, 1975 in Eau Claire, WI.

The couple lived in Eau Claire, where Linda worked for Wipfli-Ulrich-Bertelson, LLP as a data entry clerk in the accounting department, In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards, fishing, and bowling.

Louise F. Alger, age 99, former Stanley-Thorp area resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp, WI.

Services wee held on Tuesday, May 16, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thorp, WI with Pastor Daniel Welch officiating. Burial followed in the East Thorp Cemetery, Thorp, WI. Visitation was held on Monday evening from 4-8 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Chapel, Stanley, WI and one hour prior to service time at the church. Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements.

Louise was born in Lincoln, MO on October 12, 1906, the daughter of Hans and Dorothy (Hesse) Anton. As a young girl she moved with her family to Thief River Falls, MN and at the age of 19 moved to St. Paul, MN to work. She later moved to Thorp to be with her sister and met and married Sidney Alger, Sr. on October 14, 1925. They were blessed with eleven children. They resided and farmed in the Town of Worden and then later the Town of Thorp. After the death of her husband in 1969 she moved to Stanley, WI working at the Northern Colony in Chippewa Falls, WI from 1970-1986 and the Badger Inn in Stanley, WI. In 2001 she moved to the Morgan Plaza, Thorp, WI and later to Oakbrook Manor in 2003. She was a long time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thorp, WI. Louise had a great love for her family and enjoyed spending time gardening, crocheting, and traveling on tours. She will be remembered by her family for many things but truly missed for all of her wonderful baked breads, cookies and sweets.

Louise is survived by her eleven children: Sidney, Jr. (Lorraine) Alger of Thorp, WI, Jack (Elaine) Alger of St. Paul, MN, Dick (Rosie) Alger of Thorp, WI; Arlene (Norbert) Seichter of Boyd, WI; Kenneth (Betty) Alger of Thorp, WI; William (Maxine) Alger of North Branch, MN; Joan (Tom) Ruff and Jeanie (Tom) Stelter both of Milwaukee, WI; Carol (Dave) Teclaw of Hopkins, MN; Jerry (Sue) Alger of Big Bend, WI; and Sandy (Jim) Erickson of Raliegh, NC; one sister: Helen Proetz of Duluth, MN plus 187 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Martha Evangeline (nee Kobylarczyk) Alger peacefully passed to eternal rest on January 23, 2016. Martha was born on June 11, 1919, in Thorp, Wisconsin to Joseph and Julianna (nee Polnaszek) Kobylarczyk as the sixth of eleven children. She lived a faith-inspired life of over 96 years, filled with significant memories from living in Chicago, IL, Thorp and Hudson, WI, enduring the Great Depression and World War II, enjoying a lifetime of travel, and raising ten children on the beautiful 40 acre homestead she built with her husband.

Martha spoke fondly of her early years on the Kobylarczyk family farm in the Poznan are east of Thorp. Hard work, gardens filled with vegetables and flowers, homemade feasts, and family gatherings were the theme of each story she shared. Her childhood home was filled with love and music, and as a teenager she danced polkas and waltzes with her siblings and friends at local dances performed by her brother’s polka band, The Harmony Pals.

She attended the first elementary classes of the Sterling School, where she and her siblings walked five miles each day. After graduating from Thorp High School in 1937, Martha moved to Chicago to work for Western Electric Manufacturing Company. She also worked for Bunt Brothers Candy Company where, because of her beautiful Palmer Method penmanship, she wrote sweetheart messages on the chocolate truffles. At night, she joined family and friends dancing to the tunes of Big Band live orchestras.

She met Cyril J. Alger on the dance floor in Thorp where she taught him how to dance. Dancing became a big part of their life and they often danced to their favorite song, “My Shoes Keep Walking Back to You.” Shortly after he returned from serving in World War II, on January 12, 1946, she became his loving wife. The traditional three-day Polish wedding activities were captured in beautiful photos and memories, where she was surrounded by her family and friends and of course, the love of her life.

Her home was wrapped with lush flower gardens she tended to daily. Rows of vegetables filled a robust garden. Apples from her orchard provided amply for the best pie and jam. Celebration and tradition were a big part of making her house a home. From the special “rainbow cake” she made for each of her children’s birthdays to a meticulously planned Christmas celebration with antique ornaments for the tree, religious masses and activities, delicious holiday meals, and presents cleverly hidden until Christmas Eve. Whether a casual drop-in or a planned celebration, everyone left her home with a delicious edible treat, freshly picked vegetables, or clippings from her abundant flower garden.

She enjoyed a 40-year career as a chef or head cook for many of the local weddings, funerals, and banquets including hosting an event for the Governor of Wisconsin. After a childhood spent in her mother and grandmother’s kitchen, she developed her professional culinary skills at the American Legion Hall alongside her husband, who leaner his skill as a lead chef for officers in World War II. None of her success as chef could have been done without the constant kitchen and dining support from her friends, church circle ladies, and other volunteers whom she greatly appreciated. In her crisply pressed apron, she greeted guests with a brilliant smile and warm hug, knowing that they were minutes away from enjoying a delicious meal.

As a member of the Thorp American Legion Auxiliary, Martha was recognized for her commitment to fundraising selling red poppies every Memorial Day weekend to honor and support our nation’s veterans. He was also an active member of a St. Bernard-St Hedwig’s Catholic Church women’s circle and of the local chapter of the League of Women Voters.

Travel was a big part of her life. She enjoyed the sunshine, seeing the sites and dipping her toes in the ocean in Hawaii and California. She traveled to other western states from Minnesota to Washington and interesting sites in- between. On one trip to Washington CD she carried offertory for Mass in the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception after touring the White House and being a guest of the oval office. Sunday afternoon drives were a special time where she and her family rode miles through the countryside fueled by a delicious roadside picnic.

She was remarkably healthy until recent years. Frailty and weakness never held her back from playing Bingo with her friends or 500 Rummy with her grandchildren. She was endlessly characterized as the ‘social one’ by all who knew her. To keep her mind sharp, she would sit in her glider rocker and work the New York Times crossword puzzle everyday but nothing excited her more than her unrelenting passion for the Green Bay Packers.

Martha is lovingly remembered by her six sons: Dan (Patty), Edina, MN; Arnie, Seattle, WA; Gary, Chicago, IL; John, Hudson, WI; and three daughters: Karen (Jerry) Hadzima, Hudson, WI; Holly (Jamal) Alger, Washington, DC; and Alicia (Mike) Nesvacil, St. Paul, MN; and daughter-in-law, Lorraine (Chuck) Alger, Shell Lake, WI. She will be missed by her sisters: Josephine (John) Rycz, Margie (Don) Hoffman, and Pauline Kobylarczyk. She has touched the hearts of 31 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and numerous friends.

Martha is welcomed to heaven by her husband, Cyril Joseph, who passed away on the same date 37 years ago; her sons: Charles John and Joseph Matthew; and her parents, Julianna and Joseph Kobylarczyk; as well as seven brothers and sisters.

All are invited to celebrate the life and memories of Martha at a 10:30 a.m. Christian Mass on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held the evening prior at Thorp Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., with a 7:15 p.m., Legion Auxiliary Service, followed by a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the church, on Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Randy R. Alger, age 66, of Owen, formerly of Thorp, passed away at Clark County Rehab & Living Center, in Owen, on Thursday, November 5, 2020.

Randy Richard Alger was born on May 18, 1954 at Victory Memorial Hospital, in Stanley, the son of Richard L. and Rosella M. (Dulek) Alger. He was raised on Dickerson Avenue, rural Thorp, where he learned how to farm and raise pigs. Randy attended Thorp area schools, graduating from Thorp High School in 1972. After completing his education, he got his first job at Larson's Feed Mill, where his father also worked. Randy purchased the Leonard Mizerka farm on Bachelors Avenue and continued working full-time at the feed mill in addition to farming. He worked his way up from feed mill bagger to driving truck delivering bagged feed, and then to bulk feed truck driver. While working at Larson's Feed Mill, he was run over by a molasses trailer and received numerous injuries. Seven years later, Randy was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, and battled numerous health issues. He was united in marriage to Lori Fryza on October 25, 1986 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp, and they were blessed with four beautiful children. They later divorced. Randy later worked at the Lublin Feed Mill until health issues forced him to retire.

He was a hard-working, responsible, financial provider, with a great memory for life events. Randy always looked forward to Packer Sunday, and a superb home cooked meal at his parents' home with his family.

Randy is survived by his children: Richard Alger of Stanley, David (Marina) of Stanley, Lindsey Alger of Eau Claire and Michael (Grace) of Madison; one grandson: Jeffery-David, and a second grandchild on the way; 8 siblings: Rita Heiser of Beemer, NE, Ronald (Cindy) of Thorp, Renee (Allen) Marek of Thorp, Russell (Mitzy) of Thorp, Rodney (Lori) of Thorp, Roy of Thorp, Raymond (Rochelle) of Wausau, Rhonda (Brandon) Blaedow of Thorp. He is further survived by his former wife: Lori Fryza-Alger (David Lutz) of Thorp; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Rosie Alger; his brother-in-law: Brian Heiser; his nephew: Paul Marek; his niece: Tracy Alger; and his great-nephew: Mason Marek.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery, in Thorp, with Rev. John Sindler officiating. Pallbearers will be Richard Alger, David Alger, Michael Alger, Aaron Marek, Anthony Nicpon and Mike Stokosa.

Roger Edmund Alger, 76, of Thorp, Wisconsin, passed away, Tuesday August 28, 2018. Visitation, services, and a meal were held at St Paul's Lutheran Church, 201 E. Rusch St., Thorp Wisconsin, 54771. Visitation was on Friday, August 31, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. On Saturday, September 1, there was a pre-service visitation from 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. Pastor Daniel Wang conducted a 'celebration of life' ceremony beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, This was followed by a Military service outside of the church. A lunch was served immediately after the Military service at St Paul's Lutheran Church.

Rog was born May 8, 1942, in Stanley, Wisconsin to Ed and Ethel Alger. He grew up on a small farm south of Thorp and enjoyed participating in sports. He graduated from Thorp High School in I960. He then served in the U.S. Army for three years. He returned home in May 1963 and after adjusting to Civilian life he moved to Milwaukee where he met the love of £is life, Gail (Staab) Alger. They were married on May 28, 1966, and enjoyed 52 years together. After starting their family in Milwaukee, they moved back to Lublin for a few years and settled in Thorp in 1978 where they have lived for the past 40 years. While worth noting that Rog , was a banker and insurance agent for 40 years, his life was /not defined by his professional accomplishments. It was defined by his joyful nature, loyal friendship, and dedicated service to helping his community and everyone he knew. He was an active member of the thorp Lions Club, Thorp School Board (where he served for over 30 years), and was on the County Board for nearly 10 years. He was also a Church Elder and Sunday School teacher. He coached youth basketball and baseball and he could often be seen leading a pickup football game in his backyard for any kids who wanted to participate.

Rog loved going to the cottage, boating, golfing, and watching the Packers. He enjoyed his annual trips to the state high school basketball tournament and to Rock Dam for 'hunting' season. Rog especially enjoyed spending time d with his grandchildren: watching their dance recitals, Sporting events, school productions, and babysitting them . .where he would always sneak them some candy. He laughed with friends, loved his wife and family, and served his community and neighbors with a compassionate heart. He lived a life full of joy that spread fun and happiness to people around him.

Rog is survived by his wife Gail; two sons and their families; Scott & Linda Alger and their three daughters (Sydney, Lauren, & Tori) of Sturgeon Bay, WI and Matt & Melissa Alger and their two sons' (Dax and Myles) of Elmwood. IL. He is also survived by his three siblings and their families: Peg (& Ken) Maier of Green Bay, WI, Bill (&, Nancy) Alger of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and Rick Alger (and Pat McClain) of Tomahawk WI.

Sidney A. Alger, Jr., age 85, of Thorp, passed away at the House of the Dove, in Marshfield, on Friday, August 17, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2012, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Thorp. Rev. Dan Welch will officiate and burial of cremains will take place at Riverside Cemetery following services. Visitation will be held at the church, on Friday, from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Sidney Anton Alger, Jr. was born on April 3, 1927, in Thorp, WI, the son of Sidney Sr. and Louise (Anton) Alger. He was raised on the family farm and educated in rural Thorp. Sid entered the U. S. Army Air Corp and served overseas for two years. After his discharge, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Kowalski on September 20, 1947, at St. Hedwig’s Rectory in Thorp. They bought a farm in the Town of Thorp. While farming, Sid also held other jobs, including working at Blue Moon Cheese, Ken Lindquist Machinery, sold for Badger Farm Equipment, sold campers, sold silos, and was the manager at Farmer’s Co-op of Thorp for 28 years. While at the co-op, he often traveled doing appraisals for the co-op and other companies. When he retired from farming in September of 1995, Sid enjoyed going for rides and looking for animals, gong to his great-grandfather’s farm, wheeling & dealing on equipment, gardening, canning, and visiting his children before 7 a.m. on every Saturday morning. In his younger years, he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and camping.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the Thorp American Legion, and the Rock Dam Rod & Gun club.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Lorraine, of Thorp; his children: Georgia Morrison, Bob (Donna) Alger, Jim (Cindy) Alger, Joe (Jean) Alger, all of Thorp; nine grandchildren: Cathy, Kevin, Travis, Eric, Scott, Loren, Dustin, Amanda, and Adam; 17 great-grandchildren; nine siblings: Jack Alger of Maplewood, MN, Arlene (Norbert) Seichter of Boyd, Dick (Rosie) Alger of Thorp, Ken (Betty) Alger of Thorp, Joan Ruff of Milwaukee, Jean Stelter of Milwaukee, Carol (Dave) Teclaw of Excelsior, MN, Jerry (Sue) Alger of Mukwonago, and Bill (Maxine) Alger of North Branch, MN; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Tracy Alger

NEW AUBURN - Tracy L. Alger, age 30, passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, in Iraq.

She was born June 21, 1977, in Chippewa County to Pauline Symbal. She was serving as a second lieutenant in the Army in Iraq at the time of her death. She enjoyed barrel racing and was a member of Wisconsin Girl's Barrel Racing Association, serving as president. In recent years, her focus has been on service to her country and her fellow comrades in arms.

She is survived by her mother, Pauline Knutson of New Auburn; one sister, Tanya (Chris) Leo of Colorado Springs; maternal grandmother, Bernice Symbal of Stanley; special friend, Rick Hawkins of Indianapolis; and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Theodore "Ted" Symbal.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer.

Private family services will be held at a later date, with burial in the Saint Mary of Czestochowa Cemetery in Stanley.

Tracy Lynn Alger passed away on November 1, 2007, in Shubayshen, Iraq. Visitation was held on November 9, 2007 at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer. Memorial service was held at New Hope Lutheran Church in Sand Creek, with burial following at St. Mary’s Czestochowa Cemetery in the Township of Thorp.

Tracy L. Alger was born June 21, 1977. She grew up in Thorp until the age of 11, when she moved to New Auburn. She graduated from Chetek High School in 1995 and from UW-River Falls with a degree in graphic design.

Tracy enjoyed spending time with family, going snowmobiling, eating out, especially at Red Lobster, and barrel racing.

She joined the U. S. Army in January 2006 and arrived at Fort Campbell, KY in January 2007. Tracy was 2nd Lieutenant in the Army, and was decorated with numerous awards. She will be deeply missed.

Tracy is survived by her father Ronald (Cindy) Alger of Thorp; her mother, Pauline Knutson of New Auburn; sisters Tanya Crystal Alger-Leo of Colorado Springs, CO and Crystal Lynn Alger of Thorp; step-brother, Joshua Slagoski of Thorp; paternal grandparents, Richard and Rosie Alger of Thorp; maternal grandmother, Bernice (the late Ted) Symbol of Stanley, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Coreen Ann Liebzeit-Ali, age 56, of Brookfield, passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 5, 2005, at her home.

She was born September 12, 1948, in Marshfield to Anna and Arvin Liebzeit of Greenwood. Coreen was a graduate of Greenwood High School. Before continuing her education she joined the Peace Corp and served in Liberia, Africa. She received her degree in Social Work from the UW LaCrosse in 1975. On August 5, 1978 she married Fazle Ali in Minneapolis, MN. She was a dedicated mother to her two children, Shauncey and Afton Ali. Coreen was employed by the Tonawanda Elementary School as a Library Secretary and did volunteer work for the Elmbrook School District. She enjoyed taking care of her family, home and artistic pursuits.

Coreen is survived by her husband, Fazle Ali of Brookfield; her children, Shauncey and Afton Ali of Madison; her mother, Anna Liebzeit of Willard; siblings, LaVonne Liebzeit of Granton; Ellen (Alan) Vierthaler of Janesville; and Blaine (Lori) Liebzeit of Marathon. She is further survived by her mother-in-law, Monoara Begum, of Bangladesh; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Fazle (Benu) Kabir; Fazle (Ripa) Quayum; Fazle (Vicki) Ehsan and Dllara (Kamrul) Sultana.

She was predeceased by her father, Arvin Liebzeit and by her father-in-law, Abdul hai Akhand.

Funeral services were held at Brookfield, on Saturday, September 10. In lieu of flowers, memorials to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.

Joseph H. Allain, age 62, a resident of Unity, Wisconsin all his life, died at 3:30 P.M. Saturday at the Winnebago State Hospital where he had been a patient the past two weeks. Previous to that time, he had been a patient at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, Wis., Rev. Frank Brickl officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers included Tony Will, Bernard Tennis, Robert and Benny Foltz, Russell Meyer and William Schultz.

Mr. Allain was born in Unity on August 18, 1891 and attended school in Unity, Wis. His marriage to Miss Anna Foltz of Wonnewoc took place on April 23, 1917. He operated a greenhouse in Unity, Wis.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Virginia Parker and Mrs. James Wilcox of Milwaukee, Mrs. Victor Fisher of Spencer, and Mrs. A. O. Kline of Aurora, Ill., a son, Doland of Milwaukee; eight grand children; five sisters, Mrs. Frank Van Sleet of Unity, Mrs. Ruth Daudry and Miss Cora Allain of Fond du Lac; Mrs. Anna Schroeder of Wausau and Mrs. Art Foltz of Marshfield; three brothers, Frank of Milwaukee, Charles of Fond du Lac and Theodore of Richland Center. A son and a sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 9 A.M. Tuesday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby, Wisconsin, for Joseph H. Allain, 62, Unity, who passed away Saturday. The Rev. Frank Brickl officiated and burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tony Will, Bernard Tennis, Robert and Benny Foltz, Russell Meyer, and William Schultz.

Unity  - Information has been received here of the death of Mr. Theophile Allain, who until last fall owned 80 acres of land just north of our village. Mr. Allain left here about three months ago and when again heard from he had settled down in some town in the state of Washington. As near as we are able to learn he had rented rooms and depended on small jobs of work at his trade for a living. The owner called several times to collect the rent due bur always found the door locked. Finally entrance was gained by breaking in the doors and Mr. Allain was found lifeless. Upon his person was found an old letter bearing a Fond du Lac, Wis. postmark and also proved to have been written in Fond du Lac. Information was sent to Fond du Lac and from there to Unity. Mr. Allain has relatives at both places. Twenty dollars in money was also found upon his person which we learned was used for burial expenses. The belief is that suicide was committed for poison was found in the room where his remains were found. Mr. Allain at one time owned a good farm in Fond du Lac County but disposed of it and came to Unity a few years ago and purchased a large tract of land from the J. Week Lumber Co. On account of being unable to meet payments he lost a good share of it and finally succeeded in selling the balance to O. C. Haman, of this village. Before leaving he visited Colby and purchased a suit of clothes, gun and other articles. He probably had in the neighborhood of $200 when he departed.

Died, at his home in Milladore, Monday morning, July 22nd, 1907, of typhoid fever, Mr. Fred Allan, aged 36 years, 4 months and 2 days.

Deceased was born at Adell, Sheboygan Co., Wis., March 20th, 1871, and came to Marathon Co. with his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. James A. Allan, in March 1879, and resided in the town of Hull until about two years ago when he removed to Milladore, where he was carrier on the rural mail route running out from that place. He was taken with typhoid fever five weeks ago and was a very sick man, but during the last week of his sickness he was reported to be on the gain and the announcement of his death was a shock and surprise to his friends here.

Fred was an honest, hardworking young man, highly respected by all who knew him. He was united in marriage on July 4th, 1898, to Miss Lulu Lafee of the town of Hull, who with four young children survive him, and have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community.

The remains were brought to Colby, Wedensday afternoon, and the funeral held from the M.E. Church under the auspices of the Colby Lodge, No. 204, F.& A.M., of which order Fred was a member. The beautiful burial service at the grave was conducted by W.C. Pradt.

His relatives abroad who were in attendance at the funeral were his sisters, Mrs. Albert Greenwood of Fairfax, Va., and Mrs. Frank Wilcox of Knowlton, who were with him previous to his death, and his aunt, Mrs. Lizzie Robinson of Waldo. Mr. and Mrs. James Allan and Daisy of Washington, D.C., were unable to be present owing to the serious illness of Mrs. Allan.

Mrs. Amelia Allar of Colby passed away at 4:00 A.M. Tuesday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, at the age of 78 years. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 in St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, Wis., Rev. John B. Pinion officiating, and internment will be made in St. Mary’s cemetery. The body will repose in the Lulloff Funeral Home beginning this Thursday evening.

The Christian Mother’s Rosary will be said this Thursday evening at 8:00 P.M. and a general rosary Friday evening at 8:30 P.M.

The former Amelia Hainzlsperger was born in Germany on May 19, 1884, and came to this country at the age of six years with her parents who settled in the Lomira area. The family moved onto a farm in the town of Hull, Marathon county, in 1900. After her marriage to John Allar in 1901, in St. Mary’s church, Colby, the couple settled on a farm in the town of Colby, Clark county. This was her home until her death. Mr. Allar died in 1954.

Surviving are three sons, Frank Allar of Spencer, George Allar of Colby and Joe Allar of Fond du Lac; eight grand children; 17 great grand children; six sisters, Mrs. George (Lena) Sterzinger of Colby; Mrs. Lawrence (Theresa) Wall of Rockford, Ill., Mrs. William (Lucy) Krueger of Milwaukee, Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Riarsach of Milwaukee, Mrs. Henry (Bertha) Koenigs of Milwaukee; three brothers, Otto Hainzlsperger of Neillsville and John and Felix Hainzlsperger of Colby, Wis.

Eugene J. Allar, age 92, of Wausau, passed away on February 4, 2018, at Banner Boswell Hospital in Sun City, Ariz. Eugene spent five weeks in and out of the hospital and rehab center after being admitted because of the flu which also intensified other health issues.

Eugene was born on April 9, 1925, in Abbotsford, to Frank and Florence (Little) Allar. As a young man, Eugene was drafted into the U.S. Army serving in WWII, and received a Purple Heart after being shot while fighting in France. Upon returning home he farmed, built silos and other miscellaneous jobs before beginning work at Packaging Corporation of America. He worked at PCA for 36 years as a truck driver.

Eugene always enjoyed cars and motorcycles, riding trail bikes, snowmobiling, camping and fishing with his grandkids. Family activities were a big part of Eugene’s life and he was always willing to help with anything.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 28 years, Doris, of Wausau, (currently Sun City, Ariz.); and his two children, Judy (Russ) Palmerton, Abbotsford, and Gene (Dawn) Allar, Spencer, his grandchildren, Tami (Jay) Scheibe of Coon Rapids, Minn., Rick (Jeremy Schmidt) Palmerton of Rothschild, Nick (Michelle) Allar of Fairborn, Ohio; his great-grandchildren, Dylan and Lydia Scheibe and Ashley and Madisen Palmerton. Eugene is also survived by his sister, Shirley Ehrnstrom of Lake Bronson, Minn.; and brother, David Allar of Sun City, Ariz.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Florence; and siblings, Richard, Gilbert, Jerry and Sandy.

A memorial service was held at Christ Community Church in Sun City with Rev. David Mitchell presiding. A local celebration of Eugene’s life and interment will be held at a later date, please call family for information if interested.

Mr. Frank J. Allar, 78, Route 2, box 151, Spencer, died at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, on July 6, 1978 at 3:15 a.m. Funeral services were held at the Rux Funeral Home, Spencer, on Saturday, July 8, 1978 at 10:00 a.m., with the Rev. J. J. Burggraf officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery, Colby.

Mr. Allar was born on March 10, 1900 in Colby, Wis. He married Florence Little on Sept. 3, 1923 in Milwaukee. They farmed in the Unity area for 15 years and in 1947 moved to Route 2, Spencer.

Surviving are his wife, Florence, three sons, Eugene J. Allar, Unity; Gerald Allar, Milwaukee; and David Allar, Marshfield; two daughters, Mrs. Leonard Ehrnstom (Shirley), Lake Bronson, Minn.; and Mrs. Jerry Hahn (Sandra), West Bend, Wis.; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son and two brothers.

Gordon L. Allar, 71, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, in San Antonio, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, May 9, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Medford, with Rev. Brian Mundt officiating. Interment will take place at 1 p.m., on Monday, May 11, at the Spooner Veterans Cemetery, Spooner. Military rites will be conducted by the Loyal American Legion Post #175.

Gordon Lee Allar was born on Jan. 14, 1944, in Medford, to Raymond and Florence (nee Freeck) Allar. He graduated from Medford High School in 1962, and then from Metropolitan State University (Minnesota) in 1979 with a BS Degree. He married Mary Ann Godfrey on April 27, 1968, in Duluth, Minn. He was proud to have served honorably in the United States Air Force for four years and to have received the Air Medal for outstanding achievement for civilian service during Desert Shield/Desert Storm while in the employ of United Parcel Service. He worked in the aircraft industry for 40 years. Previous employment was with North Central Airlines, Republic Airlines & Northwest Airlines, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and United Parcel Service Air Group. He retired from aircraft maintenance with United Parcel Service in 2004. He loved traveling the world with his employment in the aircraft industry. When he retired, he enjoyed traveling in his Lazy Daze Motor Home and going to motorhome rallies making new friends and enjoying the country. Most of all he loved his Green Bay Packers and he was very proud to be a stockholder in the team.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Ann; his brother, Wayne (Jeanne) Allar, Redwing, Minn.; his sister, Barbara (David) Lucht, Spencer; and various aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents, Raymond and Florence Allar, Medford.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

John Allar, a prominent farmer of the town of Colby, Wisconsin died Saturday evening at 11:30 o’clock in the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital at the age of 81 years. He was admitted to the hospital on February 3rd after breaking his hip. A rosary was recited at the Lulloff Funeral Home Monday evening and funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning in St. Mary’s Catholic church, Rev. Frank Brickl officiating, and burial was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Arthur Sterzinger, Frank Sterzinger, Joe Hainzlsperger, Raymond Hainzlsperger, Raymond Allar and Matt Allar.

Mr. Allar was born on July 13, 1872, in Superior, Mich. He was married to Amelia Hainzlsperger on June 25, 1901 in Colby and resided here ever since their marriage. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Holy Name Society.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, George, Sr., of Colby, Frank of Spencer and Joseph of Fond du Lac; eight grand children and six great grand children. Three brothers preceded him in death.

Mr. Allar will be remembered by his many friends for his congenial and industrious disposition as well as for his honest dealings, so characteristic of the early settlers.

Died, at his home in the town of Colby, Clark Co., Wis., on Saturday, May 21st, 1898, of cancer of the stomach, Mathew Allar, Sr., in the 59th year of his age.

Mathew Allar was born in Laubach, Rhine Province, Germany, April 11th, 1840. April 18th, 1866, he was united in marriage with Miss Eva Falser, who survives him, and seven days later, April 25th, started for America. Shortly after his arrival in this country he went to Central Mine, Mich., where he worked in the copper mines until the spring of 1879, when he came here and settled on Section 26, town of Colby, where he died. With the exception of , that he was at Fond du Lac, he has resided here continuously. He was an industrious, hard working farmer, honest in all his dealings and respected by his acquaintances. For many months he has suffered and wasted away with that terrible malady, cancer of the stomach.

Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn his death four sons, Math. Jr., John, Frank and Jake, all of whom are now living at the homestead. The funeral occurred Monday from St. Kilian’s Church, Rev. G. Vadda officiating, and was very largely attended.

Matthias G. Allar, age 75, died at his home in the town of Colby Thursday noon, July 1st, at 12:30 o’clock. He had been suffering from chronic Bright’s disease and high blood pressure for the past three months and died of apoplexy. Funeral services were held on Monday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic church. Rev. L. J. Lang read the requiem high mass and officiated at the burial which took place in the Colby cemetery. Pallbearers were six nephews, Randall Sterzinger, Rudolph Sterzinger, Frank G. Sterzinger, George Allar, Frank Allar, and Raymond Allar. Those in charge of the flowers were James Allar, Genevieve Allar, Bernadette Engeldinger, Marian Frane, Shirley Allar, Galen Scheibe, Dorothy Dalke and Junior Dalke.

Mr. Allar was born at Superior, Mich., on Jan. 11, 1868, thus reaching the age of 75 years, five months and 20 days. He lived at Superior until he was 11 years of age when he moved to a farm northwest of Colby with his parents. Later he bought a farm two and one-half miles southwest of Colby where he had since made his home. He was married to Mary Ann Sterzinger at Colby on August 16th, 1899.

Surviving are his widow, a son, Matthias J. Allar, Jr., at home, two grand children, James and Genevieve Allar, and two brothers, John Allar of Colby, and Frank Allar of Marshfield. One brother, Jacob, of Dorchester, died five years ago.

The deceased was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Holy Name Society and a faithful member of St. Mary’s congregation. Like all early pioneers, he was of a rugged constitution, honest in all his dealings with industrious habits. Being of a friendly disposition, he was well-liked by all who knew him.

Raymond M. Allar, 87, Loyal, died at the Colonial Center, Colby, on Thursday, May 11, 2006. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 16, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. Monsignor John Malak celebrated the Mass. Burial followed at St. Mary;s Catholic Cemetery, Colby. Pallbearers were Scott Allar, Jerry Freek, Albert Pinsch, Vaughn Lucht, Robert Pinsch, Don Freeck, and Greg Brock.

Raymond Matthew Allar was born on July 9, 1918. in Dorchester, to Jacob and Louise (nee Dombrowe) Allar. He received his education at St. Louis Parochial School, Dorchester, and graduated from Dorchester High School in 1936. He married Florence M. Freeck at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, by Monsignor Gregory Reuter on Sept. 25, 1940. After their marriage, they owned and operated a dairy farm in the town of Medford from 1940 until 1969. They moved to Loyal in 1969 and he worked for Co-op Services of Greenwood, in Loyal, until retiring in 1987. After his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 25, 1990, with all four wedding attendants present. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church; a member of the Knights of Columbus, third and fourth degree; and for more than 50 years, where he currently was a member , Our Lady of Fatima Council #4963. He previously served on the Loyal City Council and on the board of directors for two credit unions. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his three children, Gordon (Mary Ann) Allar, Garden Ridge, Texas, Wayne (Jeanne) Allar, Red Wing, Minn., and Barbara (Dave) Lucht, Spencer; four grandchildren, Lisa (John) Bowen, Lakeville, Minn., Scott (Barb) Allar, Welch, Minn., Vaughn (Winnie) Lucht, Loyal, and Jennifer (Greg) Brock, Loyal; five great-grandchildren, Nicholas Bowen, Gabrielle Bowen, Cole Allar, Dawson Brock, and Zaida Brock; and one sister, Frances Skinner, Ft. Mrs. Henry Selden sent the following obituary to Mrs. Burns and as Arthur Allard was born and raised in Dorchester, Clark County, Wis., and is well known to the older residents, and is a cousin to the Marcotes, Mrs. Wm. Miller, and Mrs. Felix Sharrow, we are publishing it in full. Arthur's home is at Fond du Lac.

"A month's illness from blood poisoning resulting from an abscess and carbuncle proved fatal Thursday night to Arthur J. Allard, age 41, father of eight children and an employee of the Galloway-West company for the past years. His death occurred at 7 p.m. at St. Agnes hospital.

The deceased was born at Dorchester on May 15, 1884. He was married to Miss Mae Paquin in this city on May 22, 1906.

Surviving Mr. Allard are his widow, his children, Marie, age 18, Eva and Iva, twins, 15, Arthur, 13, Ruth, 11, Clayton, 10, Marguerite, 8, and Florence, 10 months; and two sisters, Mrs. A. J. L. Roy, and Mrs. Henry Selden of this city.

The body was taken to the Zacheri Funeral Home and today was removed to the family residence, 432 West Division St. The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday from St. Louis Church. The Rev. J. H. Racette, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery."

Donald J. Allard, 90, formerly of Holcombe, passed away Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, at Cornell Health Services.

Services are tentatively scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday Dec. 2, at Sheldon Full Gospel Church. Interment will be in the Cornell Cemetery following the services.

A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1, at Borton-Leiser Funeral Home in Cornell.

Donald “Don” “Pix” John Allard Sr., 90, went home to be with the Lord Nov. 27, 2017.

Donald was born to Mildred (Hunt) and Paul Allard, Jan. 27, 1927, the third of seven children.

He was raised in Holcombe. As many young men did back then, he left school early and went right to work.

In his early years, Don was a farmhand, gravel hauler and logger. He then joined the Navy in December 1944. He served as a Painter 3rd Class assigned to the USS Altamaha during World War II. At the end of the war, he returned home and continued working.

He married Iris Laura Ann Studley Sept. 11, 1947. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage, before she passed away in 2006. Don and Iris had eight children and raised them primarily in the Cornell area, although there were times when the family lived in southern Wisconsin or northern Illinois. Don worked hard to support his growing family, and was always involved in the construction industry and logged in the off-season.

He joined the Operating Engineers Union in 1953, and was a member of Local 139 for 65 years. In his work with the union, he ran various heavy equipment machines over the years, because he could just jump in and figure out how to make them go, but mostly he operated cranes.

He assisted in the construction of many buildings, bridges, tunnels and dams, including the Holcombe and Jim Falls dams.

Don was a very loving and devoted husband and father. He loved spending time with his family, and took great joy in watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and learn. He often expressed his pride in all of them.

He loved the outdoors. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing, and working in the woods. He reveled in sharing many stories about his family, work, the woods, and of course, some hunting and fishing escapades. He often regaled them over and over, always with the same great animation and entertainment every single time. No one ever tired of listening to them. It was obvious to all who knew him, that he loved life and sharing it with others. Don also loved the Lord, and was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church in Cornell.

He is survived by his brother – Chet Allard, Arizona; his children – Linda (Robert) Queen, Cornell, Susan Allard, Cornell, Donald Allard Jr., Holcombe, Paul Allard, Kasson, Minn., Julie O’Neil, Kasson, Minn., Sandra Allard, Chippewa Falls, Phillip (Sue) Allard, Cornell, and Joel (Judy) Allard, Holcombe; 26 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings – Clayton Allard, Jack Allard, Nina Conry, Dick Allard and Tommy Allard; his wife; his great-grandson – Zane Donald Mathew Allard; and son-in-law –Wayne George.

Don spent the last several years at the Cornell Area Care Center (now Cornell Health Services) and the family would like to thank them, as well as St. Croix Hospice, for the tender care and concern they showed Don.

Friends called at Borton-Leiser funeral home in Cornell, Friday, Dec. 1, from 4-7 p.m., and also one hour prior to the service Saturday, at the Sheldon Full Gospel Church.

The funeral service was held Saturday, Dec. 2, at 10 a.m., officiated by Pastor Mark Williams of Faith Baptist Church, Cornell. Interment was in the Cornell Cemetery following the services.

Adam Elijah Allbaugh, 84, passed away at his farm home in the town of York, September 1, 1943, after an illness of nearly five months.

Mr. Allbaugh was born in Ohio on October 26, 1858, to Elijah and Keziah Allbaugh and has been a resident of Clark County for the past 42 years.

On December 24, 1882, at Bloom City, Wis., he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Parsons. Four of their seven children are surviving: Virgil, Garden City, Kan.; Wilbur, Thurston, Neb.; George, Neillsville, and one daughter, Nora, Mrs. Otto Drescher, Sheboygan. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Jessie Hillesheim, Richland Center, Wis., five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1932 and two sons, Emery and Teddy and one daughter, Grace, Mrs. Harold Branch.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. S. A. Gutnecht, and Rev. M. B. Ferguson, at the Methodist Church, Granton, on Monday, September 6, at 2 p.m. Burial was made in the Windfall Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Young, Merton Davis, Otto Schmidtke, Glen Lavey, Daniel Garbisch and Arnold Garbisch. Music was furnished by the Chili Evangelical Church.

Glen E. Allbaugh, 87, Platteville, died Monday, Aug. 26, 1996, in Parkview Terrace Nursing Home in Platteville.

He was born Sept. 8, 1908, in Bloom City, the son of Clement and Rena (James) Allbaugh. A graduate of Ithaca High School, UW-Whitewater, and UW-Madison, he was a public school teacher in Wisconsin for 41 years, primarily as a band director, social studies teacher and guidance counselor.

In 1934, Allbaugh married the former Frances Murphy of Hazel Green.

He was a member of the Platteville United Methodist Church, The Platteville Retired Teachers Association, the Platteville Kiwanis Club, and Melody Lodge no. 2 of Platteville. Allbaugh had also served on the Platteville Public Library Board.

Survivors include his wife, Frances; a daughter, Constance (Stephen) Stephens of Platteville; a son Stuart (Bonnie) Allbaugh of McFarland; two granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Platteville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sarah Johnsen officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Platteville.

Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bendorf Funeral Home in Platteville. Memorials may be made to the Platteville Public Library.

FORMER GREENWOOD RESIDENT DIES

George Allds of 1038 South 6th Ave., Wausau, Wis., died at his home Thursday morning, March 17th, 1932, after an illness of one day, following a heart attack.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the home, by the Rev. P. W. Erickson of the First Presbyterian Church. Interment was in the Pine Grove Cemetery of Wausau.

The deceased was born near Camp Douglas, Wis., April 13, 1872. He was married to Hannah Brookman on Sept. 6, 1897, at Hustler, Wis. He came to Greenwood, Clark County in the year 1900 and resided here for twenty-two years, where he made a host of friends. In 1922 he moved his family to their present home in Wausau.

Surviving are the widow, two sons, Dr. H. L. Allds of Chicago Ellis Allds of Wausau a daughter, Mrs. H. L. Rifleman of Rhinelander a grandson, Ellis Allds Jr., of Wausau a brother, Frank Allds of Camp Douglas, and a sister, Mrs. Wm. Edison of Hillsboro, who were all present at the funeral.

Other out of town relatives attending were, H. L. Rifleman, Mr. and Mrs. George Wilson, Mrs. Grover Danfields and A. J. Wilson of Rhinelander Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Pinch and Mrs. Joe Byer of Camp Douglas George W. and Mabel Bishop of Greenwood.

Monday afternoon at two o’clock, friends and relatives paid their final respects and tribute to Flay Deloss Allemang, when final rites were conducted from the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin). Burial was made in the Riverside Cemetery. Officiating at the service was Rev. C. S. Matthews, Owen and Rev. and Mrs. Rostad, formerly of Owen and now of Fargo, N.D.; sang two selections, "Under His Wings" and God’s Way is the Best Way." Pallbearers were: Val Connell and Eddie Chenenier, Chippewa Falls, E. V. Hennemann, Eau Claire, Emil Niemi, Withee and Wm. Mattson and W. W. Kidd, Owen.

Flay had passed away at the Sacred Heart Hospital at Eau Claire, where he had been a patient for three weeks, suffering from a complication of diseases, on Friday, Sept. 5th, 1947, at the age of 50 years, 11 months and 5 days.

Flay Deloss Allemang was born Sept. 30, 1896 at Bolmoral in Richland Co., Wis. When a youngster of one year of age he moved with his parents to Jump River, Taylor Co. where he spent his childhood and early youth. Her he attended the Jump River Public schools and was employed in the lumber camps and saw mills of Taylor county as a youth, up until he was 20 years of age.

He was one of the early enlistments of World War I and after returning home from the service he made his home in this city (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.). He later attended the Milwaukee Motor School at Milwaukee and the past several years had been employed in Eau Claire. During the recent he was employed in the Ordnance plants in Louisiana and also an employee of the Kaiser Ship Yards in Portland, Oregon. Since the war he had been employed continually in Eau Claire at Altoona.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge at Eau Claire and in that community as here he had made a wide circle of close friends because of his ever present sense of humor and amicable personality.

His only close survivor is his mother, Mrs. Ida Allemang of this city.

Allen, Agda (1 January 1886 – 5 October 1984)

Agda Allen, 88 of Neillsville Memorial Home died there on Friday, October 5. She had been, due to failing health, a resident of the Home for the past 18 months.

Mrs. Allen was born on January 1, 1896, in Sweden to Mr. and Mrs. Gotfried Ottoson. At the age of 16, she immigrated to the United States and made her home in Warsaw, Indiana. She then worked in Chicago for several years. On August 15, 1917, she married Carl Allen in Neillsville ceremonies.

The couple farmed in the Neillsville area for 25 years and then moved to Chicago where they lived for 18 years. In 1960, they returned to Neillsville.

She left no immediate survivors. She was preceded in death by her husband (August 18, 1983); a son, Robert; two brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, October 8, from the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. The Rev. Paul Forde of Calvary Lutheran Church officiated; burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mrs, W. H. (Alta) Allen, 75, died at Neillsville Memorial Home on Monday morning, April 30. Mr. and Mrs. Allen made their residence at 211 Grand Ave., Neillsville.

Funeral services were to be held this afternoon (Thursday, May 3) at 1:30 from the Neillsville United Church of Christ with the Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Burial was to be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were to be John Bergemann, Harold Robinson, Dale Short, Herb Puscheck, Wayne Grap and Arlan Mills. (The body was to lie in stere at the Gesche Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and again Thursday morning until 11:30 a.m., and then at the church for one hour prior to services.)

The deceased was born on October 30, 1908, in the Town of Seif, to Alvin and Rose (Ruege) Eisentraut. She received her education in the Town of Grant schools and graduated in 1926 from Neillsville High School. She then taught in the Cannonville and Irving Schools. On June 30, 1928, she married Willard H. Allen in the Town of Grant ceremonies. The couple made their home in Neillsville. She worked for the W. G. Woodward and J.C. Penney stores in the city for many years.

Mrs. Allen was a flower lover and an active bridge player for many years. She also enjoyed golfing and bowling. She was a member of the United Church of Christ congregation. She was also a member and past matron of the local Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving her, besides her husband, is a daughter, Mrs. Bradley (Jean) Larsen, Neillsville; two sisters, Ruby Syth of Neillsville and Helen Hemp of Rochester, Minn.; a brother, Carl Eisentraut, Neillsville; two grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. 

Allen, Anna L. (13 July 1891 - 15 December 1971)

Word has been received here of the death in Corvallis, Or, December 15 of Anna L. Allen, 80, former Neillsville business woman and a resident of the Neillsville area most of her life. Mrs. Allen was proprietor of Anne’s To Shop, which was located in the present Sears building, shortly after World War II. Until that time, she and her husband, Ed Allen, farmed two miles west of Neillsville on Highway 10 for 32 years.

Private family services were held in Corvallis December 18 from the first Congregational Church, with the Rev. Alfred Slighter in charge. Burial was made in the IOOF Cemetery, where her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Swanson, Oregon pioneers, are buried.

The daughter of Alfred and Elin (Johnson) Carlson, Mrs. Allen was born in Chicago, Il, on July 13, 1891. As a small girl she moved to Neillsville, where she made her home with Mr. and Mrs. John Carlson and received her early education. She later returned to Chicago and attended Business College prior to her marriage on May 26, 1914, to Edwin G. Allen. The couple moved to Neillsville in 1914 and made their home here until 1969, when they moved to Urbana, Il.

In September of 1969 they moved to Corvallis to live with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. James F. (Welcome) Lahey, who reside at 124 NW 14th Street, Corvallis.

Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband and three grandchildren, in addition to her daughter.       

Allen, Augusta (? - JUL 1910)

Mrs. E.D. (Augusta) Allen died quite suddenly at the Waupaca Veteran’s Home at about noon on Tuesday of this week. She was taken down with heart trouble about four weeks ago, but rallied from that attack and was much better. On Tuesday, however, she was stricken with apoplexy and the end came quickly.

Mrs. Allen’s first husband was W.E. Simons and they lived in this city for many years prior to his death. A few years ago she went to the Waupaca Home where, in 1908, she was married to Mr. Allen. Mrs. Allen has a number of acquaintances in this city, by all of whom she is held in high esteem. She is survived by one daughter and two sons, Mrs. L.F. Warner, who lives near McDill, George Simons of Colby, Clark Co., Wis., and Robert Simons of Kenewick, Washington. The body will be brought here Thursday and the funeral will be held from St. Paul’s M.E. Church at 1 o’clock in the afternoon, Rev. C.F. Spray officiating. Interment will be made in Forest Cemetery, by the side of her first husband. (Stevens Point Journal)

Gerald Brasier received word today (Wednesday) of the death of his uncle, Charles N. Allen of Eugene Oregon

Services were held Tuesday, June 25, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eugene. He passed away June 21.

Mr. Allen was born September 11, 1880 in Loyal and in 1909 moved to Eugene and resided there since.

He was a postal employee for most of his life. He carried mail and passengers on the Blue River Stage in 1918. In 1919 Mr. Allen became the seventh letter carrier hired in the city of Eugene.

Besides his wife, Margaret, he is survived by a son, James Allen, Pendleton, two grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews.            

Allen, Edwin G. (10 October 1887 – 16 July 1975)

Graveside services for Edwin G. Allen, 87, of Corvallis, Or., and formerly of Neillsville, were held July 17 in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Corvallis. Mr. Allen died July 16 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Lahey.

The son of Gustav and Marie Allen, he was born October 10, 1887, at Vesterjotland, Sweden, and came to the United States at the age of 21, settling in Chicago. His marriage to the former Anna Carlson took place in May of 1914 in Chicago.

The couple moved to the Neillsville area where Mr. Allen farmed from 1914 until 1946. In 1947 they bought the building on Hewett St. where Mrs. Allen operated the Tog Shop for a number of years. Mr. Allen was employed part of the time at the B&F Machine Shop. They sold the building to Bob Lulloff in 1968 and moved to Urbana, Il., to live near their daughter and son-in-law, the Laheys. In 1971 they moved with the Laheys to Corvallis. Mrs. Allen preceded her husband in death in December 1971.

Besides Mrs. Lahey, the former Welcome Allen, Mr. Allen is survived by three brothers, Carl of Neillsville and David, and Gunnor of Finnerodja, Sweden; three sisters, Anna Forsburg of Williams Bay and Ester Aranson and Edla Persson of Orebro, Sweden; and by three grandchildren. 

Allen, Fern (1933 - 1981)

Word was received of the death of Mrs. Fern (Cook) Allen of 7921 W. Norwich, Milwaukee, Wis. She died at Columbia Hospital, Milwaukee, early Monday morning. She had been in ill health the past several years.

Cremation took place at Milwaukee. A memorial service was held at 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the United Church of Christ, Hales Corners, Wis.

Mrs. Allen was born June 8, 1933, at Clayton, Wis. She received her education at Loyal, Clark County, and after her marriage lived in Milwaukee.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Allen and six children, Mrs. Roy (Diane) Bartz, West Allis Mrs. Larry (Cheryl) Rieger, Hales Corners Glen Switlick and Dan Switlick of Greenfield, Wis. and Mary Switlick and Carol Switlick at home and three grandchildren.

She is also survived by her mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Harry (Beth) Marvin, Route 1, Loyal and five brothers, Gene Cook of Waukesha, Roy Cook and Larry Cook, both of Marshfield, Lee Cook of New Berlin and Dennis Cook of Loyal.

She was predeceased by her father, Harold L. Cook, on Sept. 18, 1966.

Mrs. G.W. Allen (Harriet) of Loyal, Clark County died at her home in that village Nov. 5, 1910. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Allen are old residents of Loyal, and deceased has many friends in Neillsville who are grieved to hear of her death.

Died, at her home in this village on Saturday, Nov. 5, 1910, Mrs. G. W. Allen, at the age of fifty-five years.

Hattie A. Hallock was born in Meaford, Ontario on Feb. 17, 1855. She came to Clark County, Wis. in 1876 and was married to G. W. Allen on Dec. 25, 1877, and they have resided in Loyal, Clark County up to the present time.

Seldom has it been our duty to record so sudden a death. A dark gloom spread over the whole community when it was whispered from one to another on Saturday afternoon that "Mrs. Allen was gone."

She was of an affectionate disposition, bright and winning in her ways, so that friendship's circle was to her a large one. Indeed, it May be said of her that "none knew her but to love her."

Her home instincts were strong. Her affection for friends and kindred was tender and abiding. Among us all she ranked always as a woman of culture, refinement, sympathy, kind neighbor, devoted mother and a true friend, and withal a woman of heroic mould in bravely meeting the stern requirements and often the disappointments of life.

She leaves to mourn two children, Freeman G. Allen of Oakland, Oregon, and Mrs. Ethel Walsh, a father, J. D. Hallock of Newport, Oregon, one brother, James Hallock of Ontario, Canada, five sisters, Ellie of Newport, Oregon, Minnie of Bellingham, Wash., Martha and May of Fresno, Cal., and Elizabeth of Meaford, Ontario.

The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church on Friday afternoon at one o'clock and the remains interred in the M. E. Cemetery. She has left us and soon the autumn leaves will fall upon another grave that hides from our sight all that is mortal of a true and noble woman.

Mrs. Hattie Allen the beloved wife of W. G. Allen of Loyal after a brief illness passed on to her heavenly home last Saturday.  She was a cousin of the Mesdames N. E. Lee, John Kintzele, Henry Pietenpol and R. C. Beecher to all whom her death comes as a heavy blow. The funeral is held at Loyal today and relatives from each of these homes are in attendance.

Death of Hiram S. Allen

On Saturday evening, March 6, at his residence in Chippewa Falls, after an illness of two days, Mr. Hiram S. Allen, one of the earliest pioneers of the Chippewa Valley, breathed his last. On Monday afternoon his remains wore followed to the grave by one of the largest funeral corteges ever seen in the valley. Services conducted by Rev. Brown, the pastor, were held at the Presbyterian church, Rev. Lock wood, of Eau Claire, for many years a friend of the deceased, delivering the discourse. The desk was was draped in crape, relieved by baskets of cut flowers. A number of tasteful floral tributes rested on the coffin. Among those present of the old settlers of the valley, were Capts. Wm. Wilson and A, Tainter of Menomonie, and Wm. Carson, O, H. Ingram, H. P. Graham and R. F. Wilson of Eau Claire.

The city officials attended in a body, and about every family at the Falls was represented.

The name of H. S. Allen has been a familiar one in the Chippewa lumber regions for half a century. In 1832 he left Vermont and reached the Chippewa in the summer of 1834, coming up the Mississippi from Galena, in a keelboat. He engaged in lumbering at Menomonie until 1846, when he founded Chippewa Falls and thereafter resided, engaged until within a few years in lumbering and kindred pursuits. He was a man of even temper, remarkably courteous in his demeanor and very popular with his associates. He was always kind and considerate to his employees, hundreds of whom, though now scattered widely throughout the northwest, will hear the announcement of his death with a sense of personal loss.
