Growing up, my parents taught me never to waste anything.
Whether it was food, water, or clothes,
I made sure to use everything
until I needed to buy more.
That's often the case with the shoes I own.
I remember never having to buy new shoes every school year
unless I outgrew the old ones.
My most recent shoes were knock-off Converses, which I bought on Amazon.
I wore them during my last high school years,
and they've recently worn out the previous semester.
By worn out,
I mean, the soles of my shoes were literally falling apart,

and how I felt safe in it
every time
I stepped on the Earth.
⋆。˚🌿•✧˖°🧚🏻。𖦹⋆🍃✧°.
When I had to part it,
I felt a little sad,
so I've kept it with me in my dorm,
and I will continue to keep it until I die.
Right now, I'm wearing actual Converse shoes,
and they've started to wear out, too.
Like their predecessors,
the fabric and shoelaces are slightly torn,
and the whites of the shoes are muddied
from all the walking I've done.
I'm sure that when I have to part with this shoe,
I'll hold on to it as long as I can,
much like the daisy Converse knock-offs.
