We all have one - covering our faces,
We take it with us to all places,
Using it to hide, to save our pride,
To appear normal - not too wild.
Afraid of other people looks,
Scared of the crooks,
Using the brainchild, having people beguiled.
But when it starts to peel away,
We found ourselves defined -
In completely different way.
Starting to see the real us,
The one we tried to hide,
We might feel like we died,
But shortly after we glide,
Inside, one hell of a ride,
Leading us to ourselves,
Rediscovering the opposite side,
Yet again being true selves.
Yet again shining bright,
Finding the hidden light.
