Later, for a proper scientific look (once you have obtained the basic items from a Circuit Fabricator and a Compressor), you can power your base using Basic or Advanced Solar Panels which track the movement of the sun.
You will use the Oxygen Compressor to fill Oxygen Tanks. There are three sizes of oxygen tank that you can build -- the Light Oxygen Tank, the Medium Oxygen Tank, or the Heavy Oxygen Tank. In order to have ample time to start your moon base, bringing multiple medium or heavy tanks is recommended. For detailed information on oxygen tanks as well as how to put on your spacesuit, head over to the Oxygen Tutorial page.
Reviewing steps completed so far: you've gathered ore and oil, created a power source (perhaps even solar power), crafted various machines for processing ore and filling both fuel and oxygen tanks, you're wearing your spacesuit gear - or at least the oxygen-related components - since it's always a good idea when leaving solid ground to carry a Parachute, add that too. The last slot on the spacesuit tab is for a Frequency Module - it's optional, but will help you hear sounds properly while in space (it's also used with the Telemetry Unit so that your buddies can keep track on you from your base, if you are playing with friends).
If you are wondering what the Sealer's, Collector's and Bubble Distributor's function and purposes are, oxygen can be provided to your Moon-base through the use of the Oxygen Collector. Breathable oxygen is created by planting two or more trees on the moon with a source of water nearby with the Oxygen Collector very close to the leaves of the trees. Then, connect the Oxygen Bubble Distributor to the Oxygen Collector with Oxygen Pipes, so that the oxygen can travel from the collector to the Bubble Distributor. The Bubble Distributor is meant as a quick way to get you started, so you can take your mask off. For a more permanent base you will probably want to build an Oxygen Sealer which can fill any enclosed space with oxygen. To "enclose" your future Moon-base, it's just a case of making sure that the walls are solid, and you will need a door made of solid blocks. If you are good with redstone, you can perhaps make a piston door, otherwise Galacticraft has Air Locks. To make one of these you will need at least seven Air Lock Frames, and one Air Lock Controller - note that has Meteoric Iron in its recipe so it can't be made until you get to the Moon.
Since the sunrise and sunset of both planets happen at the same time, the best moment to travel to Mars is during the Overworld's dawn (about 1 minute before the sunrise), so you will have whole day to build a base on Mars before the sunset.
Slimelings are tameable mobs found on Mars. Slimeling Eggs have a chance to spawn on mars surface. They can be red, blue or yellow. They can be renamed and fed to create mini slime Bodyguards. They can breed with one another to create more slimelings and the color of the new slimeling is the color of the parents combined.
Galacticraft is a mod for Minecraft which introduces 5 new dimensions that are based on planets and satellites in the Solar System. These include the Moon, Mars, Venus, Asteroids and a Space Station built by the space Explorer (aka the Player). To travel to space, a rocket is constructed using the NASA Workbench. There are three tiers of rockets. The first tier allows travel to the Moon, Overworld, and Space Station. The second tier will transport the Explorer to Mars and the third tier grants access to the Asteroids and (in Galacticraft 4) Venus. Building and flying rockets requires Fuel refined from Oil.
Of course, my focus for the livestream (which is going on hiatus while I go on a trip for a couple of weeks), is using galacticraft to get into space, and build a space station, a moon base, and mars base. However, I have other goals in mind. The area I cleared is for my factory, which is not only for the galacticraft stuff (gather fuel and oxygen, building the rocket, etc.), but also to automate many common tasks. One of my big goals for the factory is an completely automated smelting operation. The goal is that I put in the ore, cobblestone, sand, or what ever else I want to go into the furnace, into one place, it automatically gets carried to the furnace which uses electricity instead of fuel, and then the finished product gets sorted by type of item. That way crafting and building resources are constantly being made with little input from me. That would definetly help my Galacticraft operations, allowing me to focus on the important stuff.
