About Us

Hapa's Hawaiian Style Shave Ice is a family owned and operated Shave Ice Truck located in the historic Kong Lung Market Center. Hapa's was previously owned by Chauncey Giraldi and his wife Carol! In May 2023 he sold it to Malia and Josh Vasallo. Malia was born on Kaua'i and raised in Hilo, She would eventually move back to Kaua'i in 2004 with her husband Josh and thier 2 kids (now 3) to be closer to her family. They are happy to be working and serving Shave Ice in a community that holds a special place in thier hearts, they lived and raised thier keiki in Kilauea for many years. They even named one of thier Deluxe Shave Ice combinations after the street thier kids grew up on, The "Kamali'i St.".
