We have different jobs
within our unit,
Certified Ground Searcher
To be participate in searches, i.e. assigned to a team going into the woods you need to become a Certified Ground Searcher. To become certified you need to
- complete the MASAR Basic Search and Rescue online course,
- complete the FEMA IS100B Online Course,
- obtain a current First Aid certificate including CPR,
- pass a physical fitness pack test,
- pass the written Basic SAR test, and
- complete the Skills Standards "Practical Day"
If you want to help in a search, but prefer to remain at the command post, we have positions that do not require Certification as a Ground Searcher including Trailer check-in, runner, driving teams, gear maintenance , and supplying gear to search areas. We will put you to work.
Perhaps you are good at writing grants, filing papers, taking care and maintaining gear, or fundraising. We have thoese positions available as well.
We are a volunteer organization. We are not reimbursed for any personal expenses. Members collect and maintain their own personal gear, stay active in training and in unit business
