Principles of Teaching 1 is a book written by Brenda B. Corpuz and Gloria G. Salandanan, both professors of education at the Philippine Normal University. The book aims to align teacher education with the new teacher education curriculum that is reflective of the National Competency-Based Teacher Standards (NCBTS) with the end view of contributing to the formation of the ideal professional teacher as concretely described in the seven integrated domains of the NCBTS. The book covers topics such as the nature and principles of learning, teaching approaches and methods, instructional planning and assessment, classroom management and discipline, and professional development. The book also provides activities or exercises at the end of every lesson that are intended not only for drill and evaluative purposes but also for purposes of advocacy for current trends in education such as reflective teaching, constructivist teaching, multicultural education, interactive and integrative teaching, authentic assessment and teaching for understanding.
