To use the X-series, you need to install and configure the NComputing vSpace software on the host computer, as well as the XD2 access device driver on each access device. The vSpace software is a virtualization platform that creates independent virtual desktops for each user and manages the communication between the host computer and the access devices. The XD2 access device driver is a software component that enables the access device to communicate with the vSpace software and display the virtual desktop on the monitor.
How to Install the XD2 Access Device Driver
The XD2 access device driver can be downloaded from the NComputing website or from the vSpace installation CD. To install the driver, follow these steps:
Connect the XD2 access device to a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers.
Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the RJ45 jack on the XD2 access device and the other end to the corresponding RJ45 jack on the X550 PCI card installed on the host computer.
Power on the monitor and the XD2 access device. The power LED on the XD2 access device should turn green.
Insert the vSpace installation CD into the CD-ROM drive of the host computer or download the vSpace software from the NComputing website. Run the setup.exe file and follow the instructions to install the vSpace software.
During the installation process, you will be prompted to install the XD2 access device driver. Select Yes and follow the instructions to install the driver.
After the installation is complete, restart the host computer and wait for the vSpace software to launch.
You should see a vSpace icon in the system tray of the host computer. Right-click on it and select vSpace Console to open the vSpace management console.
In the vSpace console, you should see a list of connected access devices under Devices. Select an access device and click on Settings to configure its properties, such as resolution, color depth, sound quality, etc.
You can also assign a name and a password to each access device for identification and security purposes.
Click on Apply or OK to save your changes.
You have successfully installed and configured the XD2 access device driver. You can now log in to your virtual desktop from any access device and enjoy your NComputing experience.
