For reference, so far tested Grim Pact, Hardlight pistol and Ley Line Pistol, and they all used the same base sound effect for guardian pistol in both main and off hand. The only one that gave a different sound effect is Quip, I don't have HOPE or Ebonhawke Crossbow Pistol Skin to check if they sounded different as well.

So, I've owned the Legendary Quip for quite a few years now, and they just enabled Quip or "Pistol" to be main-hand usable on Ele. But when I went to use the auto-attack or any other pistol skill, the Quip Unique Sound isn't playing. I checked settings and I have "My personal sounds: ALL" currently turned on. I even went to my thief and shot off all the pistol skills and on Thief the Quip Unique Sounds are active on them.

Quip was actually the first legendary I got, and honestly, I liked it cause of the silly confetti sounds it made and reminded me of the Birthday Blaster. Imagine if Quip Shot confetti and birthday cakes

I love playing dual pistol characters. Having said that, i find it hard playing them here in CoH because of the sound effects. To me, they seem bland, and to be honest, reaaly bad with good sound and headphones to the point of turning me off to the powerset.

The sounds of this game used to be AMAZING! AoE Heals, and random toggle sound effects have been crushed due to people complaining. One aspect of the game we will never get back. So I am sure the reason behind this was that they were trying to find a sound people wouldn't complain about, sadly, they over killed it. They should have made these sound changes an option, sadly they did not. The people who complained got what they wanted, while ruining the experience for those of us who prefer powerful sounds.

I'm with Logan D here - having a series of options between various contemporary and sci-fi sound sets would be cool. I'm not sure how much of a problem that would be to implement, but it would be cool.

As an afterthought and reading the replies.. I am not advocating getting rid of the current sound, just an option to be able to change them... IE maybe add the resistance gun models to the choice menu and with them, their sound effects. Something along those lines..

How about an alternate set of sounds (and maybe effects?) for Pistols that are CLEARLY meant to be ENERGY Guns? A sort of "Star Wars Pew Pew" style effect? We certainly have the gun models for such things.

It would require an entirely new powerset to do so, but I'd be more than happy to have a spare clone set floating around with the bullet trails switched to glowing beams and some light laser sound effects to accompany them. Extra points if they could be color customized. That may be asking a lot though. Then again I'm the guy who just posted a proposal to clone MM powersets with alterations to the pet powers so they call different models since those are "baked in" to the powers, just so that we could have alternate MM minions, so I can't really say it's unreasonable as a request. Nor can I say it wouldn't make me roll a Dual Lasers blaster instantly, so ups from me!

Umm ty again for your time. I read the post and understood the concept. Replacing a sound with silence(or another sound) doesnt seem to be too hard for the average person. For an old coot like me tho, Im pretty sure I would screw it up.

What I am saying is, that your suggestion, and its a good one, is out of my league. Maybe a change to DP is wishful thinking. Then again 7 years have gone and I wished CoH would come back.. and here we are.

Best you can do from what I can tell is set the fire frame of the gun to 0 tics. Then have another sound play after firepistol (or firecgun) with a sound-specific action and set that to the appropriate tics. Replace whatever sound the new action plays with your new weapon sound. This should effectively override the old pistol sound with whatever your new sound is.

There weren't that many actions that only produced a sound, I thought about maybe the arachnotron walking sounds, but it's wrapped around A_Chase and it might've caused some weird behaviour when put on a weapon. Is it only the SSG which has these sound-only actions?

This mod is amazing and exactly what I was looking for. I know it is old, but I was wondering if you would be able to make a version for the Carbine Rifle so it is more realistic when I use both weapons on duty with the body cam. I already tried making one myself but failed miserably.

This mod is obviously outdated. The Instructions are absolutely dogsh.... Like bro couldve written the entire instructions in another language and we would not have been able to tell the difference. Trying to install this made me corrupt all the gun sounds 0/10

Any sound produced must not be within the range of human hearing (20Hz to 20kHz); sound produced outside of that range is fine. The measuring device we'll use is a human hearing the firing of the gun.

This should be a reliable weapon which can reliably kill a human at 200 meters, regardless of whatever is shot or projected. It should be able to survive more than one shot, at a minimum firing rate of three times per minute.

The technology of the time is similar to the present time, but there are advances in magnetic technology (they have far more powerful magnets as they have super compressed magnetic material and have aligned it in the same direction. All magnets used are functionally 5 times stronger, a strong dose of handwavium included).

This firearm, like the others in its family, uses a unique piston-driven cartridge. If you look in the cutaway cartridges, you will see this piston behind the bullet. When propelled by the gunpowder charge at the rear, the piston rams the bullet forward, propelling it down the barrel.

When it reaches the end of its stroke, the piston seals on the front of the cartridge, preventing any noise or gases from escaping. The only noise in the action comes from the internal striker system, and the mechanical friction between the bullet and barrel.

As long as the bullet is subsonic (and in this design, it is) there will be no sonic boom as it passes. While there might be some noise from the striker, at most it is a 'click' rather than the loud bark of even a suppressed and subsonic conventional round.

Use an electronic primer to eliminate the noise from the striker mechanism, and integrate suppressor baffles into the barrel to eliminate any noise produced as the bullet scrapes by, and there you have it- a completely silent firearm. 152ee80cbc
