What is Deep Freq?
Deep Freq is the third installment in the series of effects packages for Kore 2 and Kore Player, following Deep Reconstructions and Deep Transformations. It focuses on frequency manipulation, using advanced algorithms and techniques to create new sounds from existing ones. Deep Freq is based on four Reaktor ensembles, each with its own distinctive character and functionality:
Resonator Bank: A four-voice resonator that can create rich harmonic textures and complex tonal shapes. Each voice has its own filter, envelope, LFO, and modulation matrix. The resonator bank can be used to add warmth, depth, or movement to any sound, or to create entirely new sounds from noise or simple waveforms.
Re-Synthesizer: A spectral processor that can analyze and resynthesize any sound source, using a bank of 128 sine oscillators. The re-synthesizer can morph between different sounds, create harmonic or inharmonic spectra, or generate synthetic sounds from scratch. The re-synthesizer can also be used as a vocoder, with an external carrier signal.
Filter Machine: A multi-filter module that features five parallel band-pass filters, each with its own envelope, LFO, distortion, and feedback. The filter machine can create dynamic filter sweeps, rhythmic patterns, or chaotic effects. The filter machine can also be used as a sound generator, by feeding back the filter outputs into the inputs.
Multi Modulator: A versatile modulation effect that combines chorus, granular, and pitch-shifting circuits. The multi modulator can create subtle or extreme modulation effects, from detuning and flanging to glitching and stuttering. The multi modulator can also be used as a sound design tool, by modulating the parameters of other effects in the signal chain.
How to use Deep Freq?
Deep Freq can be used with Kore 2 or Kore Player, as a standalone application or as a plug-in in any host that supports VST, AU, or RTAS formats. Deep Freq comes with 200 presets that showcase the capabilities of the four Reaktor ensembles and provide a starting point for further exploration. The presets are organized into eight categories: Bass Enhancer, Filter Grooves, Morphing Pads, Pitch Effects, Resonant Textures, Spectral Synthesis, Vocal Effects, and Weird & Wonderful.
To use Deep Freq, simply load a preset from the browser and tweak the parameters on the Kore interface. You can also access the Reaktor ensembles directly by clicking on the edit button on the Kore interface. This will open the Reaktor window, where you can see the internal structure of the ensembles and adjust more parameters. You can also create your own presets by combining different ensembles and effects in Kore.
Why use Deep Freq?
Deep Freq is a creative tool that can expand your sonic palette and inspire new ideas. Whether you want to enhance your existing sounds or create new ones from scratch, Deep Freq offers a range of possibilities that are limited only by your imagination. You can use Deep Freq to add color, depth, movement, or character to any sound source, from drums and basses to synths and vocals. You can also use Deep Freq to transform your sounds into something completely different, using spectral morphing, granular processing, pitch-shifting, or resonant filtering. With Deep Freq, you can explore new dimensions of sound design and musical expression.
