History of Troop 942B

Our boys Troop was chartered in October 1936, sponsored by the Moffitt Bible Class at Steele Street Methodist Church. Initially identified as Troop 42, a prefix, 9, was added to the Troop number in 1956, to signify the Scouting District the Troop was in, making the Troop number 942. In 1974, the church moved from Steele Street to the current Wicker Street location, and was renamed Saint Luke United Methodist Church. Troop 942 was renamed as Scouts BSA Troop 942B in 2019 to note that it is a Troop for boys.

Troop 942 is the oldest continually operating boys Troop in Lee County. Troop 942B currently serves boys 10 1/2 to 19 years of age and they meet on most Tuesdays throughout the year from 7:00-8:30 pm at the Harriss Youth Hut at St. Luke United Methodist Church.

History of Troop 942G

Our girls Scouts BSA Troop 942G was chartered in February 2019 at Saint Luke United Methodist Church. Troop 942G serves girls 10 1/2 to 19 years of age and currently meets on most Tuesdays throughout the year from 7:00-8:30 pm at the Harriss Youth Hut at St. Luke United Methodist Church.

History of Pack 942

Pack 942 was chartered in 1953 at Steele Street Methodist Church. In 1974, the church moved from Steele Street to the current Wicker Street location, and was renamed Saint Luke United Methodist Church. Cub Scout Pack 942 has continuously served youth since 1953, and in 2019 Pack 942 added separate dens to serve both boys and girls, covering ages Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Pack meetings are normally from 7:00-8:00 pm at St. Luke United Methodist Church, but their schedule is currently altered due to COVID to allow the smaller groups of dens to continue to safely meet.
