iPDC Course @ 8th Life
Integral Permaculture Design Certificate
8th Life EcoVillage Project, Canary Islands
5-17 February 2018
LEARN WITH US IN A UNESCO BIOSPHERE
Join us on the beautiful island of La Palma to learn how being a Permaculture designer can lead you to real environmental solutions, both locally and globally. Where better to learn about sustainability solutions than in a world-recognised area of outstanding natural beauty?
We've been working hard behind the scenes to continually improve our courses, and now we are delighted to announce the relaunch of our on-site Integral-focused Permaculture Design Certificate (Integral PDC). This Integral PDC is hosted at the 8th Life ecovillage project in the north of La Palma (which is also known as 'La Isla Bonita'). In this beautiful landscape and fully functional Canarian 'finca', you will enjoy the unique opportunities of hands-on learning. This project - which now includes a permanent community of 8 residents - has been established for more than a decade, and is living proof of the abundance and balance that can be achieved with the application of permaculture design techniques.
As a group, we will explore holistic, systemic, integral solutions to modern challenges with a focus on People Care, Earth Care and Future Care. This is all about real-life, practical experience and outcomes, so expect it to be intense - but also intensely rewarding!
LEARNING THAT'S VARIED AND ENJOYABLE
During your time with us, you will learn through a variety of approaches such as presentations, hands-on learning, individual and group projects. Our past students have loved the community atmosphere, and we adapt the experience to you and your fellow students to maximise your learning and enjoyment. Part of the practical work will include contributing to the basic farm routines which, as well as great open-air physical excercise for you, we count as part of your accomodation payment - which is why the course costs are so low.
The course meets international standards for the minimum 72 hours of study required for the Permaculture Design Certificate, the standard PDC. Our iPDC in addition includes a more multi-disciplinary perspective of Permaculture as well as an introduction to the Permaculture Diploma and the Integral Permaculture world. The iPDC is awarded by the Integral Permaculture Academy, which is a thriving network of experienced permaculture designers, social activists & change agents who have been working together to co-create an international, multi-lingual community since 2001, together with action-learning / action-research students and all others who are passionate about the need to co-create healthy & sustainable cultures & environments for all species.

What's unique about this course?
As well as the modernized standard PDC curriculum, with the on-site course you also benefit from access to our popular online Integral PDC (iPDC, currently priced at €286), where you will have the opportunity to dive even deeper into the theory and knowledge behind your experience at 8th Life.
You will receive the standard basic Permaculture Design Certificate at the end of the on-site course PLUS you will be invited to continue your learning journey with us by joining our wider international community, using this new support group of permaculture designers to help and inspire you in your life designs. In our experience this ongoing support is crucial as most people struggle with their exciting new ideas once they return to their previous life. And implementing permaculture ideals in the real world, in big and small ways is immensely satisfying, as well as what our neighbourhoods, ecosystems and society desperately need. See here for testimonials from our current and past iPDC students.
Additionally, this iPDC is the gateway to the Applied Permaculture Design Internships at 8th Life, which are available to those who can extend their stay by 1 to 12 months.*
*European funding may be available for eligible applicants.
We have decided to limit the group to 8 participants to ensure you are well-supported and learning in a relaxed and convivial community setting.
