I tried some (not all) of the suggestions in the post by That_Random_Guy, but it appears not to have worked. I have read in various places that older Broadcom wi-fi drivers may not be Linux-compatible. Does anybody know more details (or where I can find a list of compatible/incompatible Broadcom drivers), so I know whether it is worth continuing to try on this matter.

First of all I have started with the tutorial to build image using open embedded (core). I did all the settings and finally used bitbake angstrom-lxde-image to build the image. The built image working well.

Now I want to add Wireless drivers to support PCIe atheros WiFi cards.

Download New Wifi Driver

I used bitbake -c menueconfig virtual/kernel to change the config of the kernel. Then added the all device drivers I need. And then saved the config file and used bitbake virtual/kernel to build new kernel based on the new config. After that I used again bitbake angstrom-lxde-image to build new image.

After flashing new image I used connmanctl enable wifi to activate wifi but it shows "net.conmanctl.Technology" doesn't exist.. Even in ifconfig output I can not see Wlan0.

Should I add something, more in kernel more than ath9k driver to activate WiFi?

I am trying to do a similar procedure for a Altera SoC where in I want to interface TP-Link TL-WN722N wifi dongle. The option (Atheros/Qualcomm)is enabled in make menuconfig .

When I plug in the device in the Altera SoC, I am able to see the device ID and name with the dmesg command. Howeer, I observe the following errors as well:

can anyone please explain me the steps to add the driver. I am trying to interface the wifi dongle with cyclone v processor and unfortunately the drivers are not present in /lib/modules/../kernel/drivers/net/.

I have also enabled the appropriate ath9k_htc option in the make menuconfig option.

The firmware is present in the folder /lib/firmware . However when I plug in, I observe the following error:

In reference to your question, we always recommend to install the Wireless drivers provided by the manufacturer of the computer, since those drivers were customized by them work with your specific platform. The Intel Wireless drivers are generic, meaning they might or might not work with your system since they do not contain the customizations done by the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer).

Keep in mind that the Intel Driver and Support Assistant Tool was designed to work with Intel products like for example Intel NUCs and Compute Sticks, you can always use it on 3rd party products but it might not be that accurate in finding and installing the proper drivers.

The reason why you get the notification about doing the update is because what the Intel Driver and Support Assistant application does is a comparison between the OEM drivers and the Intel drivers, if it detects that, based on the released date, there is a newer driver on either side it will suggest to do the update to that driver but that does not necessarily mean that it is the proper driver for your platform.

I am a developer for my day job and have been using Linux to some extent since the late 90's. I've checked the Wiki and forums and cannot find the source code for the WiFi driver at all. I am not sure how much I'll be able to help in coding on the driver, but would love to at least help with beta testing it.

Is there a Github repo or maybe other place to go to see the source code and progress on the Wifi driver for the PineTab2? This is not my main tablet so I'm fine with tinkering to get things working.

My wifi driver (Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160 MHz) has completely ceased to function. I've tried running the Driver Assistant tool multiple times, and installing the newest version of the driver has not helped at all.

I'm not very technologically inclined and I'm having a really hard time understanding what to fix here.

What mean for you "manully shutdown", "manually restart" - I usually go at Windows icon then Power -> Restart/Shutdown.

Maybe you can check my components at my profile, I install "Intel Driver & Support Assistant". I am Computer engineer and work like Web developer, so I know some stuff. I also bring PC to local PC experts but did not helped me. Motherboard seller said that he did not have fault Motherboard like this, usually is something bigger. He also think this is driver issue/conflict and he can send me new motherboard.

For the people with issues make sure you really follow each step as Scott mentioned and, for me, after the new drivers are installed I had to shut down the pc on the power button otherwise would still fail for some reason.

I have a Dell Optiplex 7090 with AX201 network adapter, been having problems lately, at least 3 months of this. I have a huawei AX3 Wifi 6 router, before it was working fine, usually got 2.1gbps speed, suddenly AX201 dropped. I have a notebook with AX201 showing similar symptoms.

The symptoms that I found were that I couldn't access Wifi 6 5GHz, only 2.4GHz.

Apart from wifi 6, I also have a wifi 5 router TPlink C8 which also worked fine before, on average it can get speeds of up to 1.3gbps.

After the issue of not being able to connect to 5GHz wifi 6, I tried connecting to Wifi 5, it turns out that the highest speed is only 190mbps.

I have tried the steps given here, I applied on a notebook and Dell Optiplex 7090, but it didn't work, the symptoms remain the same.

I have another older notebook but the wifi card has been replaced using the AX210, it doesn't show the same symptoms as the AX201.

Finally I tried changing the wifi card on my Dell Optiplex 7090 using AX210, the above symptoms disappeared, AX210 worked perfectly, connecting to Wifi 6 got 2.1gbps, and to wifi 5 got 1.3gbps on the same wifi network as AX201 used.

Hi, even though this fix works for a while, it isn't a final complete fix, the problem is related with some keyboards or mouses wireless, Logitech in my case as soon as I disconnect the wireless keyboard and mouse restart the machine and reinstall the driver the problem is gone. Something in this chip doesn't like my wireless mouse or keyboard.

First of all, before installing ANY device drivers, you installed the Intel Chipset Device Software package provided by MSI, right? If not, install it and then repeat my instructions above. Secondly, it is important to install the Intel Chipset Device Software package BEFORE installing the Intel Driver and Support Assistant. But, hold on, there are other driver packages that you need to install manually beforehand; read this page for more details: Intel Driver & Support Assistant Exclusions

It is very important to install the Intel Bluetooth driver package. The Microsoft generic Bluetooth driver is only going to cause you problems. The Intel Bluetooth driver package will install over the Microsoft driver, so you don't need to do anything special there.

Finally, a statement: 99% of Error 10 and error 43 is caused by folks not installing the drivers in the correct order or at all -- especially those expecting it to happen automatically (it does not and you should never expect this except for older machines that predated the release of Windows 10).

That was my first clean installation on this PC. In second I again install Windows, then install drivers from MSI site -B660M-A-WIFI-DDR4/support#driver in order from left to right, so first is Chipset. Again the same issue. I install DSA last, just to check if that will help.

Right, but when you followed the process I detailed above, did you use the latest drivers available on the Intel site? If you used the driver from the MSI site, then you need to repeat the process with the latest versions from the Intel site.

The PAN device is a virtual device, implemented in software. It sits on top of whatever underlying Bluetooth transport (hardware and driver) has been made available (in this case by Intel). It is provided as part of Windows and the driver provider will *always* be identified as Microsoft.

EDIT: I see that my wifi board requires kernel 5.2 so getting it working is going to take a lot of work. I will do a lot more reading. I found this Qubes discussion on how to update the kernel in the Debian or Fedora VMs.

Hello everyone. I'm running 21.04 MATE on my laptop which has an Dell Wireless 1704 802.11b/g/n 2.4 Ghz wifi card. I think the vendor is Broadcom. This wifi card runs perfectly on Windows 10 but when I'm switching to MATE, it's not discoverable. It looks like I'm missing the wifi card drivers. I tried Google searching for my missing driver but without any luck for Linux. Can anyone help me install the wifi driver so I can get rid of Windows? I can't have an internet connection on this machine without wifi.

I think I have the same bug happening to me. Any idea when a fix for this issue may come? Luckily I have a terrible wifi dongle I can use to connect my PC to the internet in the meantime, but I'm working with 10% of the normal speed right now. However, I'm using the Linux-lts already and I have this issue

I did compare the packages but was not able to determine which packages I had to add and remove to fix the problem.were in fact needed or which had to be removed on my build to get the correct wifi drivers/packages.

After searching through blogs it states there are no drivers. Its the chipset that I need to look for. However I still see others saying it doesnt fucnction on Ubuntu well and to buy another wifi adaptor.
