Chess engine vitruvius 1.1

Vitruvius is a commercial, UCI compatible chess engine that is based on the code of the free Ippolit programs, such as IvanHoe and Deep Saros. It has a speculative evaluation and playing style, and it is developed by Roberto Munter, Andrea Manzo and Domenico Lattanzi. Vitruvius won the 3rd Italian Open Chess Software Cup in 2012 and it is one of the strongest chess engines in the world.

    History and features

Vitruvius was first released in 2011 as a derivative of the Ippolit family of chess engines, which are reverse-engineered versions of Rybka. Vitruvius used IvanHoe and Deep Saros as its code base, and it added some original features and improvements. The name Vitruvius comes from the ancient Roman architect and engineer who wrote a treatise on architecture and proportions, and whose famous drawing of the Vitruvian Man was later used by Leonardo da Vinci.
