7th International Samsonov conference "Materials science of refractory compounds" (MSRC)

Frantsevich Ukrainian Materials Research Society (UMRS), Frantsevich Institute for Problems of Materials Science (IPMS) and National Technical University «Igor Sikorsky Кyiv Polytechnic Institute» (KPI) regularly, every two years, organize a conference on materials science of refractory compounds and materials. The conference bears the name of an outstanding scientist Grigoryi V. Samsonov, one of the founders of materials science of advanced refractory carbides, nitrides, borides, silicides etc. Over 400 refractory compounds were synthesized and extensively characterized under his supervision and described in 36 books. Out of this knowledge, industrial technologies of these compounds were developed and commercialized.

Refractory materials operate under extreme conditions such as high temperatures and pressures, aggressive chemical and radiation media and are widely used in many industrial fields. Recently, 1D and 2D unusual forms of refractory compounds have been discovered and attract significant scientific interest. The conference will focus on discussion of the advances in fundamental understanding and application of refractory materials.

To provide all the participants with a possibility to see the presentations, poster sessions will be held completely online. Prepare your poster as a single PowerPoint slide and export it in PDF to send to the Committee. Please, use fonts above 10 points for sufficient visibility on computer screens. Technical details on how to present during the online poster session are being worked out and will be sent to you at a later date.

The recommended duration of oral presentation, including discussion are:

• 30 minutes for plenary talks,

• 15 minutes for invited talks.

• editing and composition of abstract texts and publication of them in the Book of Abstracts

• a set of conference materials

• a conference program

• organizational services

• coffee breaks
