Kao rani mraz: A film by Đorđe Balašević
Kao rani mraz (English: Like an Early Frost) is a 2010 Serbian historical drama film written and directed by Đorđe Balašević, a famous singer-songwriter. The film is based on his book of the same name, which is a collection of stories and poems inspired by his songs. The film stars Daniel Kovačević as Nikola, a young man who falls in love with Ana (Jovana Balašević), a Jewish girl from Zagreb, during the turbulent times of World War I and the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
The film was produced by Salayka, a production company founded by Balašević and his wife Olivera. It was co-produced by Croatia's Interfilm, Bosnia and Herzegovina's Refresh Production, and Hungary's FilmArt. The film was shot in various locations in Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Hungary, with a budget of around 3 million euros. The film features a large ensemble cast of well-known actors from the former Yugoslavia, such as Rade Šerbedžija, Miki Manojlović, Mustafa Nadarević, Mira Banjac, Predrag Bjelac, Nikola Djuričko, and others.
