The Settlers Heritage Of Kings Expansion Legends: A Review

The Settlers is a long-running series of real-time strategy and city-building games that started in 1993. The fifth instalment, The Settlers: Heritage of Kings, was released in 2004 and introduced a new 3D engine, a more story-driven campaign, and a revamped gameplay system. The game received mixed reviews from critics and fans, who praised its graphics and atmosphere, but criticized its lack of innovation and depth.

In 2005, the game was followed by two expansion packs: The Settlers: Heritage of Kings - Expansion Disc and The Settlers: Heritage of Kings - Legends Expansion Disc. The latter is the focus of this article, as it adds four new campaigns, five additional single-player maps, ten new multiplayer maps, and new features such as coastal areas, tidelands, dikes, lighthouses, and animals.
