On behalf of the Office of the Chief of Army Reserve, join us for a meaningful and historic gathering at Fort Douglas as we commemorate its closing ceremony and honor the legacy of service, sacrifice, and community that has defined this landmark for generations. This special event will bring together veterans, families, civic leaders, and community members to reflect on the post’s enduring impact and to pay tribute to the people whose dedication shaped its history.
The ceremony will take place at Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City, offering an opportunity for the public to be part of a moment that marks the installation’s transition to the University of Utah after many decades of service to the nation. All are welcome to attend and participate to properly recognize the significance of this moment and pay tribute to the generations who served here.

As part of the Fort Douglas Closing Ceremony, we invite anyone with a connection to Fort Douglas to participate in a special Flag Flying Tribute.
To request flying of flags over Fort Douglas complete the following:
1. Deliver a 3’x5’ (36 inch by 60 inch) U.S. flag to Building 102 (South door) on Fort Douglas.
2. Complete a request form. Request forms will be available at Building 102, Fort Douglas.
Each flag will be respectfully raised and lowered and will then be returned to you as a commemorative keepsake. This tribute offers a meaningful way to honor the history and legacy of Fort Douglas.

This milestone event honors the legacy of Fort Douglas while celebrating the expanded capabilities, modern facilities, and future opportunities made possible at Camp Williams.
This ceremony represents the continued partnership between the Army Reserve, the State of Utah, and the surrounding community as we invest in the future of our Soldiers and their mission. We invite community members, partners, and families to come commemorate this transition and celebrate the continued mission in its new home.
