If you want superior low-light clarity and a compact front-and-rear setup for focused driving, choose 70mai 2.7K; if you need total vehicle coverage with four simultaneous channels and a built-in screen, choose SHTSHX 4. This distinction is not just about resolution numbers but about how the hardware handles the specific challenges of being on the road, especially when heading out for hunting trips where visibility varies from dawn to dusk and your vehicle might sit unattended in remote locations.
• 70mai 2.7K: Its biggest strength is the Sony IMX675 sensor delivering exceptional detail in dim light, but it trades off having only two camera angles (front and rear) rather than full 360-degree coverage.
• SHTSHX 4: Its biggest strength is capturing four independent views simultaneously to eliminate blind spots, though it sacrifices the ultra-high-resolution night performance found in the 70mai unit.
• Who it's for: The 70mai is ideal for drivers who prioritize crystal-clear footage of license plates and road signs during night drives, while the SHTSHX fits those needing to monitor side zones for parking safety or rideshare scenarios.
The 70mai 2.7K is engineered for the driver who demands the highest possible fidelity from their primary forward view. At the heart of this device is the Sony IMX675 high-sensitivity image sensor, paired with a six-glass lens and an F/1.8 aperture. This combination is not merely a marketing spec; it translates to a tangible difference in real-world usage. When you are driving on unlit backroads after a long day of hunting, or navigating through a poorly lit parking lot at a campsite, the HDR technology and large aperture work together to reduce noise and reveal details that standard sensors miss. You get clear images even when ambient light is nearly non-existent, ensuring that critical elements like license plates or trail markers are captured without the graininess that often ruins evidence.
This unit is specifically designed for users who value a streamlined installation and reliable evidence preservation over complex multi-angle setups. The inclusion of 24-hour parking mode, which utilizes time-lapse recording and collision detection via the G-Sensor, means your vehicle is watched even when you are asleep in a cabin miles away. If your car gets bumped while parked, the system instantly locks the footage into a separate file so it cannot be overwritten. The seamless loop recording ensures that storage space is managed efficiently, automatically deleting the oldest unlocked files when the included 64GB card fills up. It is a robust, single-purpose tool that excels at doing one thing very well: documenting the road ahead and behind with maximum clarity.
However, this focus comes with a trade-off. If your primary concern is seeing what happens to the sides of your vehicle—like a door opening into your side mirror or a cyclist passing close by—the 70mai simply does not provide that data. It lacks the side-facing cameras found in other categories. Furthermore, while it connects via WiFi for easy app integration, it does not offer the same level of on-device screen playback as some competitors, meaning you rely more heavily on your smartphone to review footage immediately after an incident. If you are someone who needs to verify side-zone incidents instantly without pulling out a phone, this unit might feel slightly less convenient, though its image quality remains unmatched in its class.

The SHTSHX 4 targets a different user entirely: the person who wants to see everything happening around their vehicle simultaneously. This is a true 4-channel solution, recording the front in 2K, the rear in 1080P, and both left and right sides in 1080P all at once. For a hunter transporting expensive gear in the bed of a truck or an SUV, this comprehensive coverage is invaluable. The 170-degree wide-angle front lens combined with adjustable 150-degree side lenses significantly reduces blind zones, giving you a complete picture of your surroundings. The inclusion of a built-in 3.0-inch HD screen allows you to play back clips directly on the device, which is a practical feature when you are in a remote location without immediate access to your smartphone or prefer to check footage quickly before heading out.
Durability and heat management are also central to the SHTSHX design. It utilizes a super capacitor instead of a traditional lithium-ion battery, offering better tolerance for extreme temperatures. This is a critical specification for anyone who leaves their vehicle running or parked in the sun during hot summer months or freezing winter nights. The super capacitor design ensures the unit remains operational in conditions where a standard battery might fail or degrade rapidly. Additionally, the infrared night vision with eight LEDs and WDR optimization helps capture lane markings and license plates in dim environments, providing a solid foundation for security even when natural light is scarce.
The trade-off here lies in the resolution balance. While the front camera shoots in 2K, the side and rear cameras are limited to 1080P. In the 70mai, the entire system is optimized for higher resolution output, whereas the SHTSHX spreads its processing power across four streams. This means that while you get more angles, the individual frame quality on the side views is lower than the 2.7K front feed of the 70mai. Additionally, the unit requires careful handling regarding power connections; using non-certified cables can lead to instability, and prolonged direct sun exposure can cause overheating, requiring you to cut power and let it cool. It is a powerful tool for situational awareness, but it demands a bit more attention to installation and environmental factors to maintain peak performance.
• Best for Low-Light Detail → 70mai 2.7K: The Sony IMX675 sensor and F/1.8 aperture provide sharper, less noisy footage in darkness compared to the IR-based systems.
• Best for Blind Spot Coverage → SHTSHX 4: Only this model offers four simultaneous channels to monitor left, right, front, and rear views effectively.
• Best for Immediate Playback → SHTSHX 4: The built-in 3.0-inch screen lets you review footage without needing a smartphone connection.
• Best for Heat Resistance → SHTSHX 4: The super capacitor design handles extreme temperature fluctuations better than standard battery units.
• Best for Night Driving Clarity → 70mai 2.7K: HDR and enhanced night vision technology deliver clearer images of road signs and plates in near-total darkness.
• Best for Parking Surveillance → Tie: Both offer 24-hour monitoring with G-Sensor impact locking and time-lapse options, though the 70mai focuses on the main path and the SHTSHX covers all sides.
• Best for Hunting Trips → SHTSHX 4: The ability to monitor the vehicle perimeter and cargo area from all angles provides superior security in remote, unattended locations.
• Best for Smartphone Integration → 70mai 2.7K: The dedicated app interface is streamlined for downloading and sharing high-resolution 2.7K clips directly to your phone.
In my opinion, for the specific scenario of a hunting trip, I would buy the SHTSHX 4. While the 70mai offers stunning image quality for the road ahead, the reality of being in the wild involves leaving vehicles unattended for hours or days while checking game trails. The four-channel coverage of the SHTSHX 4 is the deciding factor here; knowing exactly what is happening around the sides of your vehicle prevents theft or damage to equipment that a front-only camera simply cannot see. The built-in screen is also a practical advantage when you are in a tent or far from your phone, allowing for quick checks of the footage. The super capacitor gives me peace of mind against temperature swings common in outdoor settings. I recommend the SHTSHX 4 because it prioritizes total situational awareness over raw resolution, which is exactly what you need when protecting your vehicle in the wilderness.
The 70mai 2.7K generally produces clearer images in low light due to its larger aperture and HDR technology, whereas the SHTSHX 4 relies on infrared LEDs which can create a different type of contrast suitable for monitoring but potentially less detailed for reading distant text.
No, neither product supports 24-hour parking mode without a hardwire kit; the 70mai requires the UP05 kit, and the SHTSHX 4 requires a Type-C hardwire kit sold separately to enable continuous monitoring while the engine is off.
Yes, the built-in 3.0-inch HD screen on the SHTSHX 4 allows you to play back videos and review incidents directly on the device, which is particularly helpful in remote areas where smartphone connectivity or battery life might be an issue.
Yes, both the 70mai 2.7K and the SHTSHX 4 feature loop recording that automatically overwrites the oldest unlocked files when the memory card is full, ensuring continuous operation without manual intervention.
