Team Composition

There will be one division of competition:

High School : 9th-12th Grades

In Person Game Protocol

This year there will be 3 toss up rounds. The questions in each round will be organized by categories (NC/SC, General Black History)

1. The rounds will be named the following:  Purple, Gold, Founders.  The winning team at the state level will receive an award certificate and a cash prize.

2.Each Toss Up Round will include 20 questions

After a toss-up question is read, teams will have five seconds to ring in. Once recognized by the Que Master, the team to ring in first will have to answer the question immediately. If the first team to ring in cannot answer the question or answers incorrectly, the second team to ring in will have an opportunity to answer the question.  If the second team cannot answer the question or answers incorrectly, the question will be re-read and the remaining teams will have the opportunity to ring in.

3. Questions requiring a person's name for an answer can be answered by using the surname only provided that such an answer will be ambiguous. For example, if Theodore Roosevelt were the correct answer, the students should use the whole name in order to distinguish it from Franklin Roosevelt.

4. The Scorekeeper will announce the score following each round.

Advisers/Teachers/Site Coordinators should ask for clarification at this time if there is any disagreement about the scores.

5. Learning aids (such as study sheet) are not allowed during the competition.  Use of this material may result in the disqualification of that team.

6. Observers are welcome. General talking will not be allowed during the competition, but excitement, clapping, and cheering are encouraged.

Team Registration Deadline is March  11, 2024!
