University Policies

Students are expected to be familiar with the University’s Academic Integrity Policy, including the university’s policies on course withdrawal, add/drops, academic renewal, cheating, plagiarism, etc. Please refer to the “General Regulations and Procedures" in the CSUSB Bulletin of Courses for the university’s policies on course withdrawal, cheating, and plagiarism.

Academic Integrity

Academic Dishonesty is an offense against the California State University, other educational institutions, and the scholarly community generally.

Academic dishonesty includes but is not limited to: cheating- obtaining or attempting to obtain credit for academic work through the use of any dishonest, deceptive, or fraudulent means (see http://bulletin.csusb.edu/academic-regulations/ for more detailed explanations of what constitutes cheating); and plagiarism- presenting the ideas and writings of another as one’s own.

Plagiarism and cheating are violations of the Standards for Student Conduct Code. Students committing academic dishonesty automatically fail to meet a basic requirement for satisfactory academic performance, and thus, will receive an F in the course, and sanctions by the University (see Student Discipline Code 41301(a).

For this class, all assignments and assessments are to be completed by the individual student unless otherwise specified.

Plagiarism and Cheating:

Please review campus policy at (CSUSB Bulletin, pages 54-55). “Plagiarism is the act of presenting the ideas and writing of another as one's own.

Cheating is the act of obtaining or attempting to obtain credit for academic work using any dishonest, deceptive, or fraudulent means.” Instances of academic dishonesty will not be tolerated.

Cheating on exams or plagiarism on assessments or assignments will result in a failing grade and sanctions by the University.

Student Resources & Services

Student Services

You should also familiarize yourself with the university offered student services (https://www.csusb.edu/student-affairs/student-services).

Basic Needs: Although it is not broadly advertised, the university also assists students who are homeless or need food assistance by finding them a place to live (see: https://www.csusb.edu/basic-needs & contact: https://www.csusb.edu/care-team) and/or providing food through food pantries designated for students (the Obershaw Den provides food and personal hygiene items for enrolled students in need.

Services are confidential and available during the covid-19 campus closures; CSUSB campus: https://www.csusb.edu/basic-needs/food-security/obershaw-den & PDC campus: https://www.csusb.edu/basic-needs/food-security/pdc-den & other campus food resources, including how to sign up for CalFresh: https://www.csusb.edu/basic-needs/food-security). If you want more information for yourself or a friend, I would be happy to provide it and/or provide a referral to a service that would best fit you.

Counseling: If you find yourself stressed out and feeling overwhelmed, I encourage you to seek out university counseling services (https://www.csusb.edu/caps); seriously – they can even just help you figure out how to better cope with that annoying roommate, how to better schedule/organize your time to meet deadlines, or offer a safe place to vent about whatever it is that is keeping you up at night and preventing a good night’s rest. Your mental wellbeing is important. In fact, there's even an online resource created specifically for well-being: https://you.csusb.edu/ .
