We hope you can find the information you are looking for with this website, but if not, feel free to email us at 512packLC@gmail.com. Our goal is to help you and your child get involved in scouting.
We are Pack 512, a Cub Scout pack that mainly meets at La Canada Elementary and La Canada Presbyterian Church and is mainly organized for students at La Canada Elementary, Crestview Elementary and Micheltorena Elementary schools. We have cub scouting dens and activities organized for girls and boys in grades Kindergarten through 5th grades. That means we typically have Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, and Arrow of Light dens (which is Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, respectively). For the start of the school year, we are currently forming our Lion den(s), and also welcome new scouts to any of our other den levels..
Current Pack Leadership
Jill Henley, Pack Leader 512packlc@gmail.com
Travis Williams, Pack Chairman travisw@usc.edu
Stephen Kalb, Pack Trustee
We welcome you to join us in Pack 512! Please complete the following:
Ensure that you have sent an email to 512packLC@gmail.com to express your interest. That will help determine if you can join an existing den, or if you will need to help form a new den, often with you as a parent being one of two volunteer den leaders (don't worry, everyone in the pack must volunteer in some capacity, so that will be your volunteer role, and all leaders in the pack are volunteers)
Once you know you'll be joining the pack (either into an existing den or forming a new den) Register with BSA using this LINK
You will pay BSA fees directly on that site, and the Pack 512 dues separately.
Please reregister for the new scouting year using the registration link sent to you from BSA.
Please remember to renew/complete your YPT (Youth Protection Training) and AB-506 requirements.
Pack 512 and the Greater Los Angeles Area Council (GLAAC) are committed to assuring that all young people have an opportunity to pursue Scouting, regardless of their background or financial need. Pack fee assistance can be requested through our pack email, and scouting financial assistance is available at https://www.glaacbsa.org/financialassistance.
Scouts work toward achievements at each level as dens, and as a Pack we get together for fun activities and additional learning. Scouts bridge to their new rank by May, with the exception of Arrow of Lights (5th Grade), who bridge to their new Scouts BSA Troop in January to continue their scouting journey.
Each den meets regularly to help the scouts advance in their scouting adventures. Den leaders (parent volunteers) plan and lead the meetings to achieve the requirements of the rank the scouts are working on. Parents assist den leader(s) in planning and leading the meetings and activities. Den leaders will advise on when den meetings are scheduled.
Pack meetings are held on a monthly basis, with the primary purpose being bringing all dens/ ranks together to learn from each other, see what they are working towards, general Cub scout learning and celebrate together. Pack Events are scheduled for larger events such as Pinewood Derby and Raingutter Regatta so all Cub scouts have a chance to participate.
