Dual Track Recording: You can record 2 tracks onboard (in MIDI format) and you can include rhythms in them if you like, and have different voices on each track. This feature is handy for making a quick recording of something without having to hook up any devices. If you wanted to, you could connect the piano to a device and then export the onboard MIDI track; but keep in mind that the USB MIDI port can send MIDI data directly to an external device, so you could just record it directly. NOTE:  The recording options and features using the Smart Pianist app offer much more functionality (including recording in audio as well as MIDI) so make sure you check out that section of the review.

Whether the Yamaha P-125 is the right piano for YOU really depends on your specific needs and interests. There is no doubt whatsoever that it provides massive value & tons of versatility for the price (almost all of the pianos that it typically gets compared to are more expensive).

If you have any questions about my experience with the 3 pianos I have owned (the Yamaha P-125, the Roland FP-30 or the Alesis Recital Pro) or any of the other pianos I have reviewed, please feel free to contact me!

There are 10 voices, easily accessible from 5 buttons (on a lot of more expensive pianos, you have to memorize or look up how to choose a voice by pressing piano keys). You can also access these using the Digital Piano Controller app (more on that later). Here is a quick sample of each voice (NOTE: each voice has a default recommended reverb associated with it).

Single Track Recording: You can record one single track for simple playback; this is only intended for playback, not for exporting a sound file or MIDI data. NOTE: With the Digital Piano Controller app and an iOS device, you can record as many songs as your device will hold (your piano will only store the most recent one you recorded if the device is not connected)

The Alesis Recital is a more basic version of my first digital piano, the Alesis Recital Pro. It is priced similarly to the Yamaha Piaggero NP-32, possibly a bit less. A basic comparison to the Yamaha Piaggero:

So with all that in mind, I would HIGHLY recommend the Yamaha Piaggero NP-32 as a starter digital piano if it fits in with your needs and budget, and if the lack of weighted keys and 88 keys is not a deal breaker for you. If you would like to check current prices for the Yamaha Piaggero NP-32 or NP-12, or the Alesis Recital or the Alesis Recital Pro, please click my appropriate affiliate link below to check these products out.

In his later years as a pianist, Sviatoslav Richter, widely regarded as one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century, consistently favored Yamaha pianos. Richter first encountered a Yamaha piano in 1969 in Padua, Italy, the town where Bartolomeo Cristofori invented the original prototype of the piano. At the Menton Music Festival in the south of France, after briefly playing other pianos made available to him, Richter decided on the Yamaha, saying without hesitation, "This one." What captivated Richter at the time were the excellent sense and reliable skills of Yamaha technicians as well as the quality of the piano.

The following year, in 1970, Richter visited Japan for the first time to participate in the Osaka Expo where he made news by choosing to play a Yamaha CF grand piano in all of his performances from the second day on. Subsequently, he began to request Yamaha pianos whenever possible for performances not only in Japan, but also at the Ftes Musicales en Touraine, which he established, and on his European tours as well.

Richter said this about Yamaha pianos. "In a really good piano, the sensitivity of the heart, the sensitivity of the heart that reacts to the music is good. In other words, when you want to make a sad sound, it has to sound sadly, and when you want to make a joyful sound, it has to sound joyfully. Yamaha pianos have both, this kind of sensitivity of the heart, and a brilliant sound."

Gottfried Silbermann, a specialist in constructing organs, took over the work that Cristofori began. He studied Cristofori's designs and improved upon them.

Not long after in 1747, Johann Sebastian Bach performed one of his historical pieces in front of Frederick the Great on the piano that Silbermann dedicated to the king.

A man that contributed greatly to German piano manufacturing was Johann Andreas Stein (1728-1792).

Stein improved upon the Silbermann piano mechanism and developed what would later be called the Viennese action, a new system that was used for many years and gained much popularity. This new piano featured a bright tone quality and a keyboard that responded well to the player's touch. Mozart fell in love with these aspects of the new instrument, on which he wrote many renowned piano pieces.

Meanwhile, Johannes Cristoph Zumpe in England introduced a hammer action to the clavichord and produced a square piano. One of the first known uses of a piano as a solo instrument in public concert was a performance in 1768 by Johann Christian Bach (son of J.S. Bach), and this square piano was the one used on that occasion.

Later, John Broadwood in England added improvements to the English action that Zumpe invented, increasing the elasticity of the strings, and also strengthening the frame. His English action (in around 1780) produced a touch with a lower sense of resistance and a more powerful sound. In that regard, this instrument can be termed the precursor to the modern piano.

In his later years, Beethoven wrote many masterpieces on this piano made by Broadwood.

The piano is from 2000 and it has an updated DCK 850 controller. The Disklavier is not perfect but it is useful. One thing is that this piano has an amazing bass register and when played softly, the midrange has an almost choir like sound. I sampled this piano at PP and MP levels using the Earthworks Piano Mic system with the lid closed.

I absolutely love a piano with the lid closed. This library does a perfect job of capturing the warmth and character and in your face sound that sitting in front of a piano renders. Great! The only downside is the GUI doesn't load, oh well.

I got some missing file errors which I couldn't manage to fix, but it seems that at least every key is working properly. It's a nice sounding piano, very barebones if you'd like. If you like using the sustain pedal for long holds, you might listen to some noise that builds up that way. If you are looking for something to play around, this will be more than enough.

This is a nice and useful piano library but ut just feels kind of lacking in character compared to others on the site. I know sometimes you dont always want a piano with alot of character but personally, i usually do. I think the low end is pretty powerful and i like the attack of the note but again, there are many other pianos on pianobook i would reach for before this one. Its still not bad by any means though. I feel like everyone has slightly different taste when it comes to pianos

This piano is playable, and has a very full sound. The dynamic response is pretty good, really. There's a fair amount of noise in the samples which really piles up in a bad way if you use the damper pedal. I can't say exactly what it is, but either the selection of mics or the positioning of the mics isn't quite what I'm looking for in a piano. The mids just seem too present. The stereo image doesn't feel balanced. It feels like it leans heavily to the left. I think my biggest problem with this library is that I feel like I'm playing a recording of a piano, and not playing a piano when I'm playing it. I know that's not very concrete feedback, but that's the best way to describe it. However, just because this isn't my taste doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a try. You might absolutely love it.

The smaller, continental upright is a great piano for someone wanting the reliability of a Yamaha in a more compact size. This is a great piano with a streamlined, modern look in an ebony polish finish, and comes with a matching padded bench. This piano is in excellent condition. It was built in Thomaston, GA in 2000.

The Yamaha Corporation built it's first upright pianos in 1900, with grand pianos soon to follow. This Japanese company has continually sought to improve its instruments by sending its engineers to study with European piano manufacturing greats, as well as bringing experts to Japan to advise in their factory. The Yamaha Music school was started in 1954, and soon thereafter the company began to diversify with production of motorcycles, water craft, as well as other instruments.

In 1973 Yamaha bought the Everett Piano Company located in South Haven, MI, and produced pianos for the US market in factories that were located in Michigan and Georgia. These factories closed in 1986 (Michigan) and 2005 (Georgia). Today all of the Yamaha pianos are made in Asia, including Indonesia, China and Japan.

Yamaha has maintained its success to become one of the largest piano manufacturing companies in the world, and acquired the German Piano Bosendorfer in 2008, maintaining it's manufacturing plant in Austria. Today it is one of the most recognized names in the musical world.

Also, in FL Studio happens the same thing I can hear the Grandeur only when I click with the mouse and FL Studio detects it (see the SS). When I press the keys with my digital keyboard I hear just the regular piano.

The Yamaha P series is incredibly famous for offering the right balance between portability, feel and performance.Among these is the Yamaha p115, a digital piano that presents 88 fully weighted keys and a variety of functionalities.

The p-115 has a total of 192 polyphony, a high ratio when compared to the standard digital pianos. Polyphony is simply the total number of notes that a digital piano is able to play while holding down the sustain pedal. A higher polyphony count results in a slower decay of the first notes played. ff782bc1db
