Fourth Mini-workshop

on the Early Universe

2024 Sep 3rd - 6th @ Yatsugatake Commons, Yamanashi prefecture, Japan

Overview

Although the standard cosmological model now appears to be established, we are still far from a complete understanding of the early Universe: the actual mechanism of inflation is still unknown, we do not know how the Universe has evolved after inflation in the early Universe either, and several issues/tensions raised from observational data are now under debate. In this mini-workshop, we gather to discuss future directions towards the understanding of the early Universe, related fundamental issues and even more. To have in-depth discussions and stimulate collaborations, the workshop is organized such that the participants can interact with each other and have ample time for discussion.

Venue

The 4th EU mini-workshop will be held in Kiyosato Town, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. Kiyosato is a quiet and nature-rich town next to Nobeyama Station, the highest station in Japan and famous for its radio observatory. The venue, Yatsugatake Commons, is a conference center converted from a closed elementary school, and is the perfect place to learn something new by bringing our childhood back to life. This summer, escape the heat of urban cities and spend a wonderful week with us at an elementary school surrounded by greens and mountains.

Yatsugatake Commons

This workshop will be held in Yatsugatake Commons(八ヶ岳コモンズ). It was renovated from an abandoned elementary school. The room is a 6th grade (11~12 years old) classroom with desks and chairs for high school students (16~18 years old).  You'll feel very nostalgic!See Google Maps

Nobeyama Radio Observatory

This area is known for Nobeyama radio observatory, which has been the birthplace of radio astronomy in Japan since 1970. We will visit there during excursion to learn about the history of radio astronomy and consider its future with cosmology.See Google Maps
