Great idea, I tested something like that, but using a dither pattern that alternate at 60fps between the two colors. It worked well but only for some colors, and it was still prety glitchy looking. Plus making a dither pattern can cost a lot of cpu.

How do you test your setup to make sure it plays 4k 60fps? Tbh, I don't think I can trust my own eyes to make an objective judgement. I think I have the right HDMI cable and TV, but not sure about the android tv box.

I haven't bought one yet. After watching some of the youtube reviews, I'm not sure which one that is actually capable of doing 4k 60fps. I am hoping that I could find a box that has an SPDIF connector. If not, then I guess I need to update my receiver.

Make sure to test before you start your live stream. Tests should include audio and movement in the video similar to what you'll be doing in the stream. During the event, monitor the stream health and review messages.

3) In real world use, how much recording time can someone in North America working in 75-degree to 90-degree temperatures expect to get from 4K 60fps internal LOG recording before overheating? (again, if it is not line-skipped or pixel binned).

My typical workflow would be to use the camera for stills for about an hour-and-a-half and then need to shoot video for about an hour-and-a-half as well. Most of the clips would be short (about a minute long). But i would need full sensor width, 4K 60fps in LOG without binning / line skipping.

It's 4K/60 with a 1.07% crop (~3% chopped from the full sensor). You'll have to test the overheating issues yourself; it would seem to depend on the ambient conditions (unpredictable) and also what the cadence of shoot and rest is. If you shoot very short clips as you said, I wouldn't expect issues but I don't live where it's typically 90+F either. Why not rent and test to find out for sure?

It does overheat. A test I did to force overheating threw up the following: 27 Degrees Celsius. Inside a shaded room with good airflow and a breeze blowing through. Shooting 4K 50p the camera tells me I can record for 20mins. At 19 mins the overheating warning came up. At 26mins it shut down. After a minute switched off I could get another minute and another couple of minutes switched off I was up to 5 mins. As a side note, the size of this 26min clip was 40GB. The overheating and the file size is why I would always shoot in 1080 (or maybe 25p 4K at a push) for longer form video (that I hardly ever do).

In order to test this, the team put together "the actual Xbox Series X CPU via the AMD 4800S Desktop Kit, paired with a GPU that's a close match for the PS5's", and then ran Starfield at the closest possible settings to the Xbox Series X version. Then, they dropped the resolution down from 4K to 1440p (matching the Xbox Series S version) and spent a bit of time exploring the game to see what the frame rate was like.

Digital Foundry ultimately went on to sum up that a 40FPS mode in Starfield on Xbox Series X definitely seems a potential option based on the limited testing they've done so far, or Bethesda could opt for a Variable Refresh Rate mode instead and unlock the frame rate so those with VRR-supported displays would still see a smooth picture.

But there's other reasons it works so well. 40fps SEEMS like it is closer to 30fps than 60fps, but in terms of frame time it is 1/30, 1/40, 1/60 which is 33.33ms, 25ms and 16.66ms respectively. If you look carefully at the gap between them 40fps is EXACTLY half way between 30 and 60 in terms of frame time (+/- 8.33ms between each). It feels MUCH smoother to most eyes than 30fps, and much more like 60fps to me.

2) This is a Frankenstein machine and not entirely indicative of real hardware capabilities.

3) Their test didn't take into account using Series S equivalent graphical settings - only resolution. That's another boost to performance.

It could run at 60fps easily the series x could but bethesda don't want leave series s owners out so its capped at 30 fps which it shouldn't be and is a joke anyway bethesda need release a damn map for this game perhaps bethesda need a new engine now this creation engine is ancient that said starfield is full of faults but I'm still enjoying it most of the time

Hell, I think it's even possible for the same person to completely reasonably think Redfall, primarily a shooter, is not okay at 30 fps but Starfield, primarily an immersive storytelling RPG is fine. For me personally Starfield at 30 fps was a deal breaker but 30 fps didn't impact my enjoyment of Zelda in the slightest. Different games and different people have different needs.

I expect that MOST (if not all) Consistent 30fps games could perhaps hit 60fps in certain places, with an 'average' of 40-50fps. Games are 'NOT' static, but 'dynamic' and as such, the load will vary. To hit a 'locked' 30fps for example, that means that the 'most intensive' moments that really push the hardware must be at least running at 30fps but that might only be '1%' of the time with the majority running at 40-50fps and some aspects 'comfortably' hitting 60fps - such is the 'dynamic' nature of games.

I'd rather they ensure a consistent 30fps at 'launch' with a polished, bug free experience myself and then maybe added a 'performance' or 'unlocked' frame rate mode post launch. adding 'features' - like extra modes for example, is preferable to me than 'promising' a 60fps mode but unable to deliver on it. I expect a '60fps' mode to run at 60fps the vast majority of the time with only minor 1-2 frame dips at most. Most 'performance' modes are more like uncapped 30fps modes that may hit 60fps but not in any meaningful game-play.

And why they used a similar gpu to ps5? Series X gpu is way faster, even the cpu is faster with fixed clocks and no variable like the ps5, wtf?

 The game is heavy and demanding, I have non-issue with 30fps on my series x it runs pretty smooth most of the times with minor dips here and there. First I try to run the game on my pc (i5 10500+GTX 1660ti) but it was unplayable even with low graphics, so Series X, this is the way for me, really I don't care for a 60fps mode, I'm now at 130 hours in the game with no issues for me.
