Highly debated on wether this is the country's first freeway. Not to mention I'm writing this on the 4th of July and its numbered 76 because thigns were signed in Philadelphia in 1776 allowing the nation to become independent blah blah blah everyone knows the story. Makes sense, they probably would've chosen a different number for the freeway if it werent for the significance of the year to philly. Especially because at the time there was already an I-76. So two I-76's exist. Fun.
I may have been high when I wrote this.
Technically on the ramp of the Pittsburgh interchange but close enough
Idk about this one but why did they go for a full overhead gantry instead of a half one? Theres no signs on the other side...
Thank God they dropped the Clearview...
Uhh... Really? What happened to US-119?
This road NEVER divides more than 20 feet. Except here.
Nice of you to warn me that it's a toll road AFTER I got on it. That banner seems so unnecessary there.
Hmmm...
Theres a lot of signs like this on the turnpike. I mean it's pretty curvy but these are still pretty cool.
Thank you to the truck that got in front of the sign. Very difficult to not remind you that you're number 1 for that.
Westbound photo. Had to turn around to make up for the last photo.
The only diagrammatic I've ever seen for a service plaza
So close yet so far from 999...
I love this part of the turnpike. the straightest portion, you can see several miles ahead if you look closely.
Silly central PA... it's not THAT important. As much as I dislike Biden...
Non-negative contrast usage of clearview...
not an uncommon photo for my phone to take
Really love this bridge. Super long, and goes over the susquehanna river.
Hard to see, but this sign is Button Copy.
First sighting of the NJ turnpike! I'm planning on going there this trip to philly, I'm hyped
A bit easier to see this time, both signs are Button Copy.
EDIT 10/11/22 - This sign is now in a construction zone and isn't on its original gantry. It will likely be gone after construction finishes.
