Madonna The Virgin Tour Dvd 1984
The Virgin Tour was the debut concert tour by American singer-songwriter Madonna, supporting her first two studio albums, Madonna (1983) and Like a Virgin (1984). The tour was originally planned to have an international scope, but it was ultimately restricted to the United States and Canada due to Warner Bros. Records' decision to send Madonna on tour after the success of Like a Virgin. The tour began on April 10, 1985 in Seattle and ended on June 11, 1985 in New York City, with a total of 40 shows in 27 cities. The tour grossed over $5 million ($13.6 million in 2022 dollars ), with Billboard Boxscore reporting a gross of $3.3 million ($8.98 million in 2022 dollars ).
The Virgin Tour was recorded and released on VHS, Betamax and LaserDisc in 1985 as Madonna Live: The Virgin Tour, which featured the concert filmed at Cobo Arena in Detroit. The video received a gold certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipment of 50,000 copies. However, the video has never been officially released on DVD, despite the high demand from Madonna's fans. Some unofficial DVD versions have been produced by fans and collectors, using various sources such as the LaserDisc edition, TV broadcasts, and bootleg recordings. One example of such a DVD is The Virgin Tour Live (Digipack, DVD), which was released in 2009 by an unknown label. This DVD claims to be remastered from the LaserDisc version and includes bonus tracks of Madonna's early music videos.
