HIDDEN LEAF VILLAGE.

Founded by a Samuari and legendary blacksmith who hailed from the Land of Iron and a Kunoichi from the Uzumaki Clan, the Roronoa Clan of Konohagakure came to be known as the Blades of Konoha during the height of their power.

Many within the family are born with a natural affinity to wind chakra and are said to have innately intense chakra control. That, coupled with the natural incredibly strong life-forces and deep pools of chakra of the Uzumaki Clan they quickly rose to power within the village. Combining the strengths of both founding members into a fighting style that blends the three jutsu’s with the art of the sword.

Training their members from a young age in this unique fighting style that utilizes wind chakra in ways not often seen they are known to be masters of the blade. Due to the nature of their training and the jutsu’s that they’ve developed in combination with their fighting style, the members of the clan are well-rounded Shinobi. They can be placed on a team for all of the three range combat styles, though they are most lethal in close combat fights.

It was this versatility combined with their chakra control, specialized fighting style, and pools of power that caused them to be hunted nearly to extinction during the First Shinobi War.

Upon Zoro’s birth, the Clan had been whittled away to only a few remaining families within the main branch that were taught their unique style. Yet it would be the birth of Naruto Uzumaki and the rampage of the Nine-Tailed Fox that would lead to the clan’s almost near annihilation as they used their secret Fūinjutsu in an attempt to help seal and control the beast. Leaving behind three lone survivors. Zoro, his cousin Kuina, and her father, who had been out on a mission during that deadly night.

As the sole survivors of the clan and distant relatives, Kuina and Zoro were raised in a strict upbringing. Pushed harder than most children of the clan had been in decades to master their secret techniques. Vowing secretly to each other that they would one day see their clan’s name returned to its full glory.

This dream became Zoro’s alone at the age of 13 when he returned from a mission with his first Team to discover that Kuina had been killed during her own mission.

It was the death of his cousin and best friend that caused Zoro to accept the offer to join the Anbu when he was offered it at the age of 13 and reached the rank of Jounin, making him one of the youngest members to ever join their ranks. Remaining in the shadows as he honed his skill with almost sadistic focus and lethal accuracy until he came to be known as the Demon Blade both with Konoha and without.

He remained with the Anbu until Tsunade decided that he’d become too withdrawn while serving in their ranks. Coming to close to losing sight of his humanity even though his honor and devotion to Konoha still remained strong. Sensing the need for him to be closer to those of his age and yet knowing that his own age group was mildly terrified of him, she assigns him to the newly formed Team 7 right before they go to save Gaara.

Upon seeing how just that short amount of time with others closer to his age helped Zoro emotionally Tsunade unofficially assigned him as a member of Team 7 alongside Sai. The decision was made due to her suspicions around Danzo, claiming that he was needed on the team along with Yamato to help in case Naruto lost control of the nine-tails thanks to his family Fūinjutsu that was pivotal in the sealing of the tailed-beast fifteen years ago.

Later, upon Danzo’s death, he became her normal fill-in for members of the various teams in that generation when one was injured and unable to go on missions along with assigning him many solo missions as well.
