The scholarships are designed to support diversity and inclusion in the field of engineering, as well as to foster the development of future leaders and innovators in the automotive industry. The scholarships are open to students majoring in electrical and computer engineering, industrial and systems engineering or mechanical engineering who are active in the National Society of Black Engineers, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers or organizations with similar missions. Preference will be given to central and western Ohio resident students with an interest or work experience in the automotive industry.
The scholarships are worth $5,000 each and are renewable for up to three years, provided that the students maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. The scholarships will be awarded beginning fall 2021 and will fund as many as 20 new scholarships over three years. The scholarship recipients will also have the opportunity to network with Honda staff, apply for internships and co-ops, and participate in collaborative projects at Honda and Ohio State.
